A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Don't mean to come at you personally with this, but you can either play to win or you can choose to lose more slowly.
I really don't take anything on this site personally (except that one insane Scottish bint who called me poor, what happened to her anyway?). But it just really feels like we're heading down this dilution path at the moment that only benefits Labour and the left more and more as time goes on. By 2029 the right wing vote may be so diffuse among splinter groups that we miss even thst opportunity and have to endure another five years of demographic vandalism, cultural erosion and ethnic humiliation.

I don't know what you guys were expecting with Farage being the captain of the ship. He's been known to be a complete chimera of a rat and snake. You can forget half of the manifesto they promised to enact. It's going to be swept away while the policies they will implement will fuck you just as the Tories and Labour have done for years.

The same always applies. Never trust a politician and never trust a journalist that will back them. And yet some of you got caught with the hopium that this time it will be different.

Anyways. Here's something funny. Reform's new Scottish leader managed to last about an hour before deciding to have his press officer tell off a journalist to get him to stop asking questions.

Don't worry. I'm sure Reform will replace the voting system with a better one that will make sure everyone's vote is heard and matters. :)

I'm a bit confused aren't people saying reform are gonna sweep in the next election why does Farage need all these desperate conservative MPs?
Because he really, really, really, really wants to be part of the political boys club. He doesn't really want to make a new party with radical people that want change, what he wants is to head the Tory party, run the country on autopilot and then probably leave politics and write a book about it. The goal isn't winning, the goal is to live in a very specific fantasy of his.

However, the pessimistic side of me is inclined to think that most MPs will simply jump ship to a new rising party and the re-brand will be enough to satisfy most, as the UK continues to leisurely cruise down the road of irrelevancy in the world stage.
I've never felt more vindicated for having an opinion in my life

Because he's a stooge that acts like he is anti-establishment when he;s always been one to ditch his image and "morals" for cheap gains, satisfy his ego and try his best to part of the boys club like Boris and his crew. He's not far off from Boris Johnson in this regard too but instead of acting like an endearing clown, he's acting like the "common working class man who's down to earth while having to deal with the woke world.".

The good thing about being a cynic is that you will never be disappointed when you are proven right and will be cheerful when you are proven wrong. If you view everything is never gonna get better and will always remain shit. It makes the moments where things change for the better a lot sweeter.

I would take half a manifesto being enacted at this point. That's a 50% increase from the usual 0%.

"We need people with experience to run the country. We have to rely on brown people to do the jobs white people won't".

I'm a paranoid conspiracy theorist so excuse me while I propose some intelligent ideas into the conversation. The guy who started the migrants hotel did not defect from the Tories. He was sent to join Reform knowing him joining them will absolutely tank their public image. And he'll be back in the Tories in a couple of months when reform dies. He was an assassin.

You are giving the Tories too much credit here to think that they would even have the cognitive ability and forward thinking to come up with such a plan.

More likely they would of sent someone to plant bugs across the offices of reform MPs only to find out that they planted it in their own offices instead because the third world migrant they hired doesn't understand English that well.

Possible scenario:
There actually IS a GE, and it’s timed for the maximal low of reform after a few debacles like this.
This is how they operate. Anything that looks like it might gain traction is subverted and damaged.

"Uhm sweetie, we have a mandate from the British public to import 5 gorillian sandniggers" (he said with his landslide 16% vote). If there is a GE soon the level of snarkiness from our beloved politicians is going to be unparalleled.

Know you said you struggled to find the figures, Duane, so maybe that’s part of the problem
The ones I want to find are from 2020 - 2022. Because I find it highly suspicious that 400k migrants a year come in, on average, then 0 came in during 2020 but 800k came in the following year?

It's the same number fuckery as having 0 flu incidents but the same number of average flu incidents all counted as covid.
Would Farage’s ego let him let another threat to him into the party who has already tried to stage one coup in his old party?
Farage doesn't run the party, he is just the face of it.

As I've said before, an out and out muslim leader is still too unpopular to win, but muslims control your party, labour, greens, independents and reform.
Finally got around to checking my lotto ticket... got one number.
Although RNGesus somehow managed to give me number 15 four times on five of my lucky dips.
You are statistically less likely to win with lucky dips than you are your own numbers.

We had it bros, we fucking had it. A third party, on the right, polling at 35%. It was right there, and these Westminster swamp lizards just absorbed it.
We never had it. Reform was always a jangling key level distraction to keep the people believing they can vote their way out of this mess.

"If only X party could get into power, we could fix the country!"
X party goes to shit
"If only Y party could get into power, we could fix the country!"
Y party becomes establishment.
Etc, etc, etc.

I predict Lowe returning to the Tory party at some point. Maybe he forms his own and wins some mindshare. Tories need him.
Personally I would like to see Lowe with a party and Truss as deputy spitting fire and truths about what happened and how the media class work with the international banks to coup leaders who don't follow their plan.
One can dream.

@Duane Dibbley, did you watch the interviews with Truss on You Tube after she left? She came across really well and had a lot of interesting stuff to say.
I did and I've always liked her, and not just because she's the most shaggable PM in history.
She was done dirty by the banks and was paid off to disappear into the countryside and never resurface. You'll know better than I that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and maybe we've not seen the last of Truss.

You know voters, we really are the Last of Truss.

I thought labour were canceling elections every where because they knew they can't win them any more.
As I've said before, an out and out muslim leader is still too unpopular to win, but muslims control your party, labour, greens, independents and reform.
I disagree. I think the Conservatives will happily put a mussie in charge and when the choice is A or B, people would vote for the mussie just to get rid of Starmer. It's how we've had the rainbow of bollocks from them in the past. The paki was almost as gay as Starmer is and he was put in as PM.

You wouldn't shag Maggie? I bet she'd be a great Dommy Mummy. And if she brought out the spitting image puppet she'd give you a right good seeing to.

this is like picking which yellow-sticker sushi looks 'alright' to eat
Lunacy. Truss is a milf, PM or not. If she worked in the office, she is the first one I would looking to nail at the Christmas party.

I'm conflicted because I'm sure our next PM will be a muzzie, but I also think reform will be to the tories what your party is to labour; the nuthouse magnet.
Kemi bedunkanog won't last as a PM and was probably put there by the leftist part of the tories, who are now jumping off the sinking ship like rats.

Maggie looked like Mr Burns in a wig, even in her younger years.

Early Lizzie II though, what a stunner.
