A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I've skinned and dismantled a munty before, and it's deeply satisfying to reduce them to a bunch of freezer bags full of delicious venison.

I saw a news story the other day that invasive sika deer from Asia are forcing out our native red deer, and if they are to avoid the same fate as red squirrels we need to kill and eat a shit load of sika. Makes me think I need a dedicated deer gun.
 
I don't think the cops are actually in here, but they totally could be, its not paranoia if they really are out to get you.

The vegan/free-from/no-gluten/meme of the moment facing. 99% of the time it happens to every hot new thing, prime energy. orange twirls, more recently pistachio paste everything.
The vegan meme has been going on a while though, I think there must be some sort of tax exemption thing going on like there is with bakery produce (you can just bin whatever you don't sell and get it knocked off as a "donation"), because God knows nobody is making any money actually selling it.

But during those times the total change is less positive? That graph isn't saying that more people were born. The change is still positive just less so. Probably because the birth rate stayed the same but the mortality rate went up. Also there's that one statistic that couples who are around each other constantly, normally from both being unemployed, tend to be less happy and more likely to divorce, so probably not the best circumstances to be having kids. Even if it was 'british citizen' still means 30% of them are pakis.

Don't forget that statistically European people who emigrate will contribute 5-15% more taxes than they receive and that the anyone from the third world will contribute 10-20% less than they are given. And that 'change from migration' could mean that 100k people left the country and 350k came here, like last year's numbers, not just that the number of English people stayed the same but the number of browns increased by 250k. But hey, number go up. If we import 1,000,000 brown people to pay the pensions of 100,000 white people today then that's a win. We have solved the pension issue. Who cares about what happens to the pensions of those 1,000,000 brown people, we won't be in power to have to deal with that.

They used AI to scrape social media, or so Guildford 'was told'. Now I find it very coincidental that it may be that WMP used an AI, perhaps Grok, to find claims of naughty Israelis at football matches; but I can also believe that the fat cunts at WMP simply asked Chatgpt 'have israeli hooligans caused issues at football matches' and it dug up old tweets or reddit posts from the pro Palestine lot blaming Tel Aviv for rowdy behaviour. Guildford has not said what social media or what AI was used, however, take a guess.

I've not gone into it minutely but I think that was the old claim. Now they're going "Microsoft Copilot provided misinformation!"
It's hilarious and this is the preliminary report only so far. I suspect if no-one is fired it's because they will fire them when the final report drops.
 

Rubert Lowe did an advert for his activist org.

I must admit that I am tempted. I'm not sure my current job would allow me to join up with any politically active group, but it might be worth checking anyway. Lowe is far too much a creature of economics, and not nearly radical enough, but he is better than Farage in that regard. His video does have the vibe of 'Mid 60s guy in Thailand after wife died talking to you about politics while waiting for his new wife (23) to come back with the drinks.' to me though.

Isn’t this a direct breach of GDPR? Using certain means to discriminate ? The penalties for it are huge, it’d be hilarious if the fans sued.

Yeah, no thanks. The pub nearest me on there is a bar at a hotel that has illegal immigrants there. Fuck them. I hope they tank.

I like an old man pub in next town over from me. Proper old school boozer. Landlord is from Northern Ireland. There's no swearing allowed, no kids allowed, they do amazing home cooked food at tea time and you get change from a fiver for a pint of real ale and a big bag of nuts. And more importantly, only white people drink there.

Beyond Covid, here is a graph from a Gov website showing replacement theory in real time. Taking a wild guess, it seems that these numbers are massaged to be more viewer friendly, however anyone with eyes can see that migration will be more than "around 300k" a year.

I would like to see Reforms personal projections of population growth and the population mix of the UK from 2029 - 2033, assuming they win the election in 2029.

Jesus Christ, the amount of immigration inflow is terrifying. Who’s paying their pensions when they retire? Who’s paying for their healthcare?

Why do the official figures believe that this current peak of immigration inflow will die down? Not like it’s not already fucking mental, but with the open door policy we currently have, why would the foreign wave stop at all? Know you said you struggled to find the figures, Duane, so maybe that’s part of the problem. All they have are the most optimistic shots in the dark meant to keep everyone sweet.

This is really sad. There’s some great pubs on there in places all over the U.K. that I’d be really sad to see go. A couple that were great post-game watering holes. One that was always entertaining if you like watching impromptu MMA. A couple ‘you can get anything there’, although one of the worst offenders I know of is a healthy green dot, so the criminal fraternity in that area is safe for now.

I mean, god forbid the community have somewhere they can meet, socialise and discuss shit that can’t be monitored word for word like anything on the internet can be. I knew someone who did a PhD on the British pub in some specific 100s of years ago period of history, based on records of the time. Fucking wild, the shit that went down because people had somewhere to meet and confer (Russell Greer could never). No wonder the governmental overlords want them gone. No talking in person allowed. Only government-mandated and monitored communications allowed. Because we’re free and we’ll never let terrorists win.

I want a pint now, and it’s only half nine in the morning.
 
Current headlines are banning non-alcoholic drinks for under 18s, banning twitter (cancelled), banning over 70s drivers, banning some right wing Dutchie commentator, banning banning banning, and not a peep about leccy bills raping us, the water issues, or anything, idk, important.

I have sacked Robert Jenrick from the Shadow Cabinet, removed the whip and suspended his party membership with immediate effect.
I was presented with clear, irrefutable evidence that he was plotting in secret to defect in a way designed to be as damaging as possible to his Shadow Cabinet colleagues and the wider Conservative Party.
The British public are tired of political psychodrama and so am I. They saw too much of it in the last government, they’re seeing too much of it in THIS government. I will not repeat those mistakes.

Farage now saying that he has been talking with Jenrick and 'other senior members' just now but 'nothing is signed'. How can he take Jenrick now, knowing hes damaged goods? (so imho, he'll take Jenrick) As for Kemi, fair fucks to her, but I guess a Tory-Reform deal is off the table now, and I don't imagine she'll U-turn and take him back, kicking him out and making a deal of 'I'm sick of drama' is an obvious stab at Keir and all his rumoured backstabbers and schemers.
Maybe ol Rob can buddy up with Lowe or go independent. Maybe he can go write articles for the Guardian with Sunak.
 
The big problem for Jenrick in Reform is that it would be Lowe on steroids. I imagine his price would be the Home Affairs brief (including immigration policy) and he would absolutely not accept being dictated to in any way by either Farage or Yusuf on those matters. Would they keep out of his way?

I am also curious to see, if Jenrick is headed there, how many other MPs (if any) he takes with him.
 
Farage already had one person who knows what he was doing who was a potential threat and that was Lowe.

Would Farage’s ego let him let another threat to him into the party who has already tried to stage one coup in his old party?
