A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

On Freeserve that cut you off every 2 hours, 99% complete on an unresumable download of an MP3 that's been running the last hour and a half, and your mum decides she needs to phone her sister she saw earlier that same day for a chat.
And you got an auto dialer to reconnect you. And learned to use IRC to resume large downloads.
An upsetting amount of my wage from my first job at McDs went to pay for my crippling Team Fortress Classic addiction. Them were the days, tell the youth of today a 200ms ping was considered good and they look at you like you have 2 heads.
Are you me? TFC was great. It's dead now.

Smart phones don't belong in schools. Nor do laptops. All this technology gets in the way of learning. I know we fucked around online in the computer class the same way everyone else did. Now it has to be the default if there's not a mirror on the back wall to see what the kids are up to.

Also us oldfags remember when you literally paid per minute to use the Internet. In the nineties it was a penny a minute (after 6pm). Try explaining that to someone in their twenties. It's basically unthinkable these days.
And getting kicked from the Internet if anyone rang the house phone.
I had to pay for my time on the Internet out of my pocket money.
Was good times, fucking with wanna be predators in chatrooms.

Every lunchtime me and my mates would play multiplayer Mario kart (two players on the same keyboard!) on a version of Zsnes that I brought in on a couple of floppies and installed on the ~10Mb of hard drive space we had for our GCSE project. Ironically I only got a C in my exams in the end because I couldn't mail merge properly. Our IT teacher was also our PE teacher.

"Muuuuum, the phone's gonna ring, don't pick it up!!!"

The original GTA had a multiplayer mode where you literally had to enter your mate's landline number.

I predict he is going to bottle on banning X. Canada pulled out of their little pact because Trump will threaten tariffs. Starmer is in the worst position as he is fending off a looming backbench rebellion. Reform and Conservatives, who are seemingly angling towards a coalition now. The worst public opinion of any leader, even worse than Maduro. Commons and Lords are starting to turn on him, too, with the speaker growing more antagonistic with him, and the Lords having nowhere near the sway he wanted. Tariffs would be the icing on the cake and fuck us up hard. I am somewhat read up on a lot of PMs, but I have never known one in such a fucked position. This is just domestically too; internationally, it's even worse.

He has been left out of numerous meetings; Macron, who was his chief ally, just outright refuses to deal with him now. Merz hates him because he sucks up to Ursula. The Conservatives like Meloni, Tusk and Orbán just flat out hate him. It looks like Carney is abandoning him as well because he never talks about him. He has degraded the UK relationships with other countries to almost beyond repair.

You'd think our monarch would intervene in this embarrassment, apparently not, though.

Simpler times, though i was lucky to swap from BT dial up to NTL 'broadband' (128kbps of blistering download speed. I could get a whole song from limewire in while eating dinner!).
Arranging Diablo 2 runs with my mate so we didn't enter a dungeon after 1hr 50 mins of gaming was peak internet.

Good. Gore videos and the people that enjoy viewing them should be on a watchlist or minced into horse feed.
Banning smartphones in school is a good idea.
Anyone using a smartphone in public with the audio on loud should be medically deafened using knitting needles and a toffee hammer.

I remember getting a very stern talking to after running up some mental phone bills.

I vividly remember this advert from back in the day. It literally looks like something from the 1940s now.

I don't think anything will change until the right starts realizing this is what politics is, and that this is what they have to do. Until we do the best we can to actually play the kind of game the left does, we're just watching as they dominate from the sidelines. Expel the leftists, jail the anti-whites, death to foreign criminals. Actual action instead of going "Imagine if things were reversed, the people harming us are sooooooo silly."

I think future generations will look upon the right with confusion at how a faction faced with people that wanted to kill them, didn't fight back, and instead chose to try to desperately win their respect by doing nothing.

Who TF gets ptsd from snuff films. I remember in school everyone in my friend group would have ran to the computer if one of us found a gore video more brutal than the last. I think most teenagers have watched gore at some point, there's nothing weird about it. This is the gov's way tricking people into more internet bans by using the classic "think of the kids argument".

The modern right is dominated by moderates obsessed with maintaining civility. Acting as if God will reward them for never abandoning their morals. It's stupid. I think most right-leaning zoomers are moving away from this mindset as they never lived long enough through the the pre-2008/Blair time period. Politics is about power, not ethics. Morals are a convenient tool to appeal to the moderate non-politically engaged voter. The left has been a expert at this for decades. When the right is faced with this they will call hypocrisy and point to "What if the rolls were reversed" instead of updating their Modus operandi to account for this tatic.

I don't get what people do with it. I know what they do with it but I just don't get it. There's no way you need unlimited data without just constantly scrooling whatever social media. Just don't? I don't get understand. I can understand listening to music on the bus or whatever but I just don't get the need to constantly be on social media. They're not even using social media properly and bullying autistic people they're idk watching mr beast.
For the extra cash it’s worth it. If you travel abit for work just being able to fire up a 5g hotspot to avoid using terrible hotel WiFi it’s worth it.

If an extra fiver a month avoids me having to argue with the woman on accounts over a receipt for premium internet at Travel Lodge as she’s never had to work with their standard terrible WiFi then it’s worth it.
That’s really gay.

Your entire statement is great, but if there's anything the right needs to realize, it's this. It's not about principles, or the fantasy of compromise and getting together because "we're all one big team that wants to make the UK a better place". It's all power, and it's not just in the houses of parliament, it's everywhere. The right needs power everywhere. It needs to control education, media, policing and policy.

Yes I think this is because the right has taken on face value that they and the left are both on the same side (making Britain better), and thus have assumed that what the privileges the left has fought for (like a refusal of political violence) will be extended to them as well.

One of the right wing elites (for lack of a better terms) problems is they always let the left decide where a battle is fought. The left will never stop pushing a new issue or a new thing the right then fight them on letting the last thing slide. It's an over used example but if the right said "Gay marriage is gone, no debate just gone" then a lot of the tranny shit goes with it. We never get to child grooming and puberty blockers because the entire gay foundation is wiped out. The stack is reset and the left have to take it all again to push that hard.

That's where all of these problems stem from. No one is willing to write off bad laws the left put in place and instead keep fighting on new terrain they can't win. Trump is a faggot but he's right in his approach. He does what he wants and if the left want to use lawfare to fight it, it's already done. The right could act just like ICE is. Sweep up all the illegals and send them all to Africa. Bag em and tag em. Dump them in the middle of no where packed into military transports and just leave. Human rights violation? Too fucking late. They've already been eaten by lions or the local cannibals. And this isn't even difficult to do. There are thousands at hotels and military bases right now. Day 1 reform can get the military to immediately raid everyone with full force. By the time the BBC start crying they would already be in containment if not on a plane.

Mobilefagging but major incident declared as South East without water, again (hasn't this happened before a bunch in recent memory??) Companies are blaming storm Goretti and overflowing the pumps, or something. They rape us with water bills but the infrastructure is left to decay.
New trainee conductors on the tram today, who didn't speak a word of English and had to have the conductor/ticket guy training him translate.

See the thing that pisses me off the most about the potential X ban is that it's turned into another fucking wishy washy Starmer thing. If he wanted X banned, he could hold an emergency sitting in parliament to vote on an immediate ban on X which would result in it being banned by 12 midnight tonight. Parliament can fucking DO things.

I want X to stay online but this is the typical 'attempt to please both sides that pleases nobody' thing that has plagued this entire Labour term so far. Worse still, it's the fucking GOVERNMENT ITSELF that got into spats with Musk over it, publicising the CP thing to the general public, so now a segment of the public are enraged and Starmer is sitting on his hands doing fuck all. If it's a major national security issue he could have it banned in hours.

How is banning Twitter an attempt to appease any one? Bluesky trannies are the only creatures wanting twitter removed and they don't count as people and are very few in number. One of the internets biggest websites full of dopamine addicted doom scrollers isn't going to be a popular ban.

This was a knee jerk over reaction to "Twitter's chat bot is creating CP and making nudes of important women!" and so they immediately threatened a ban. Which would be the correct response if the situation was true. But the knee jerk reaction and then not backing it up is the usual British politics. Give it a day before the inquiry on Grok is announced, then in 18-24 months we'll get a pdf about it.

Great news everyone! A British production won Best Limited TV Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for TV at the golden globes.

Adolescence

If you ever need a list of things to brainwash yourself with. Look no further than these golden globes. It won multiple awards along with other propaganda pieces no one watched and no one remembers after a week. It's almost like they're trying to convince people to watch them by giving them these awards.
