A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

The issues of the internet began when anonimity was removed. You can't cyberbully, be cyberbullied or have your pictures shared naked when you're only a handle on a text box called "Long rod von hugen dong".
I saw this absolutely fucking baffling video a couple months ago that just came to mind.

Personally I think that all children should not only be allowed online but they should be required to break the hate speech laws. If I open any post by keir and it isn't full of 5 year olds recreating the average xbox360 voice chat lobby then the country is fucking doomed. I mean if we're getting rid of kids then why don't we get rid of just the mentally vulnerable in general? Just sick of seeing kier's posts all the time.

I don't see an issue really I mean we all probably used the internet before 16 a fair amount right? We all turned out upstanding and totally normal people.

Exactly! I was just saying that the other day to Mr Crinkly.

*pulls out empty packet of scampi fries*

Isn't that right Mr Crinkly?

"THEY'VE GOT TO GO BACK!!!"

Whoa, don't say stuff like that! I've told you, you'll get me barred from the Citizens Advice Bureau!

Because of anonymity, respect and the understanding that existing on the internet was a privilege; to be able to afford computer, the internet and have the intelligence to get it working, rather than the right that most people believe it is.

Myriad reasons why the internet is fucked, to fix it though we need to restrict it and try again. Much like society, we need to return to the value system of the 50's/60's and try again. Continuing forward will only lead to demise.

Also us oldfags remember when you literally paid per minute to use the Internet. In the nineties it was a penny a minute (after 6pm). Try explaining that to someone in their twenties. It's basically unthinkable these days.

On Freeserve that cut you off every 2 hours, 99% complete on an unresumable download of an MP3 that's been running the last hour and a half, and your mum decides she needs to phone her sister she saw earlier that same day for a chat.

Us in our twenties had to pay for our phones by asking the paki at the Texaco for a fiver on Tmobile and texting the number thank you very much. Unlimited data was a fucking mistake.

I remember getting a very stern talking to after running up some mental phone bills.
An upsetting amount of my wage from my first job at McDs went to pay for my crippling Team Fortress Classic addiction. Them were the days, tell the youth of today a 200ms ping was considered good and they look at you like you have 2 heads.

Yea sure you did. And the internet shut off at 7pm too didn't it? The only thing I really remember is dialup and the fucking unusable speeds it gave you, mostly because I still get those same speeds half the time. Ofcom forcing me to use tor to access this site didn't make a difference because my internet is already slower than tor is.
Unlimited data was a fucking mistake.
I don't get what people do with it. I know what they do with it but I just don't get it. There's no way you need unlimited data without just constantly scrooling whatever social media. Just don't? I don't get understand. I can understand listening to music on the bus or whatever but I just don't get the need to constantly be on social media. They're not even using social media properly and bullying autistic people they're idk watching mr beast.

Krave sadly
F to pay respects.

Of course it did. Then we'd all stand up and sing God Save The Queen. It was only in black and white back then you know, colour only came in around 2004.
I remember downloading a camrip of Blade on WinMX for tuppence an hour. Those were the days.

That's just your isp
Nah that's just where I live. Everyone gets shit internet speed that goes to dial up tier speed when the weather is fucked. It doesn't cut out it just plummets down into bytes per second for a few hours. But I get to see rabbits when I go out for a walk so swings and roundabouts really.
Then we'd all stand up and sing God Save The Queen
Probably stopped shutting the internet off to save everyone from having to buy new windows and glasses every day then. Have we checked to see if it rained more when everyone had to do that?

The General Election debate is scheduled for tomorrow:

Whilst I expect the Government to ignore it, unless there is a marked improvement in Starmer and co. then I am not ruling anything out - especially if Burnham is now going to challenge the gormless gimp for leadership of the party, with Norwich South looking like it will head for a by-election on the same day as the Council Elections (May 7th).

The long delay would give Burnham

a) time to find a successor to become Mayor of Manchester

b) time to move to the constituency so that he can be registered there and therefore run as Labour's PPC in the hope of retaining the seat and then challenging Starmer to be leader/PM.

However...

Both Reform UK and a 'Coalition of the Left' party (or one of either the Greens or Lib Dems) will be eyeing up the seat, with Re-join EU now also threatening to put forward a candidate regardless of whether or not it would split the Greens/Lib Dems.

Who? Are they just trying to scrape in and live off of the visually impaired reform voters? And that's a fucking sargon tier threat. If you do not give me a general election within two weeks I will be calling carl up and getting him to run for pm again and you do not want that. This is your last warning. Do not make me bring out the rape man, he will humiliate himself again and is not afraid to do it.

Oh dear...

Maybe it's time to bring this one out:
