A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Guys, I’ve just been for a swim and there were women there in bikinis. I was sat in the sauna after the swim and could easily sexualise them. Exercise is also linked to rightwing extremism and misinformation.

There were children in various states of undress in the changing room and they were accompanied by older men.

For the good of all women and children in the country we need to close all gyms. And shoot anyone who disagrees with George Soros.

Oh, I just love George, he is such a lovely man! Please, my street needs more rapey Muslims, please. I just love them. Hell, let's chuck some jeets in for good measure because they have such wonderful food.

This is such a fucking boring counter argument. You sound like a troon. This is exactly their tactic.

Oh you don't want me wanking in women's toilets? Well why aren't you saying anything about Palestine if you care so much?

Why the fuck should anyone in particular who isn't a politician be expected to be making grandstanding public statements on every bad thing happening this week?

It's not their problem to fix or something they need to say anything about. You're not "turning around" anything with this shite.

I don't give a fuck about Palestine and I don't believe there is a tranny having a wank in every woman's toilet in the country. I've never even knowingly met or seen a trans person in real life.

I would have thought one of the world's most popular social media websites being infested with illegal porn would be a topic of concern for those who make themselves out to the great women's defenders.

I'm going to say what's on everyone's minds- certain people, including these great feminists, are happy to turn a blind eye to illegal porn because it's on the platform owned by their favorite person Elon Musk.

Lads, we’ve found our first crypto-tranny police officer!

Enjoy the rest of your day, “miss.”

Maybe they dont give a shit. Maybe they do but are talking about it in a WhatsApp group.

Either way JK Rowling and Graham Linehan don't owe you a commentary on their opinion of everything that happens.

You silly troon cunt.

shit is funny
He says with a completely straight face.
youtube keeps pushing thing faggot and he says there are no trees in england
Back in ye olde days this was kinda true. The main reason why coal became such a useful resource is because we cut down all the trees. There was a time when massive amounts of the country simply did not have any access to wood at all because it got used up faster than it grew. Pretty much all of the forests in England are not ancient, most of them have been replanted even if it was hundreds of years ago. A massive amount of forests were cut down in the early 20th century too.

He's not saying there are no trees, he's saying there are no forests. Which is not a massive overreach. There are small forests but is that still a forest? When does a garden with a few trees become a copse? And when does a copse become a woods? When does a woods become a forest? For something to be a forest it has to be a large area, all of the forests near me I can walk through in about 15 minutes if the ground's dry. The thing with England is that almost none of it is natural. The forests we have are not there because nature put them there, they're there because we wanted them to be. Almost all of the country has been molded and changed to be what we want it to be. And we don't want forests, we want small woodlands but a forest is pointless other than hunting because it's really fucking hard to drag a tree 20 miles out of the woods by hand when you have to avoid all the other trees. So yes, I would say he is being truthful, you just heard him wrong.

If they ban X for child porn, are they going to ban facebook, reddit and roblox?
If not, ban them all anyway, and social media, and phones that allow access to the internet.

Kemi has also jumped behind banning social media for under 16s (Andy Burnham has called for cross party consensus on this issue in a response to her post- leadership challenge soon or is he just a retard?). Which is a policy so fucking retarded I can't begin to wrap my head around tbh. Social media is awful for kids, its full of preds, groomers, adult content (gore, porn), dopamine-destroying FYPs, can lead to EDs and body image issues for young men and women, and posting your images/constant life updates is warping these kids brains. Thankfully, children should come with two (often only one) parents who are supposed to, idfk, parent their damn kids and either monitor their phones, not give them phones, block websites on the router/phone, or have ''difficult'' discussions with Tayden Brayden and Hayden about why they aren't allowed twitter.
Jfc.
Kemi Badenoch said a Conservative government would ban under-16s from social media in order to stop children spending hours on "addictive" sites. The Tory leader vowed to introduce age limits for social media apps should her party win the next general election.

She argued children should not be abandoned to the "wild west" of the internet and called for greater protection for children. The mother-of-three told the BBC's Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg programme that platforms were profiting from children's "anxiety" and "distraction" and were "designed to be addictive".

The Conservatives said tech firms, such as TikTok and Snapchat, would be required to use age checks that do not rely on government digital ID.

It comes after teachers' union the NASUWT said the Government should bring in legislation that would make big tech platforms prevent children from accessing their platforms. In Australia, a social media ban for under-16s came into force in December.
Mrs Badenoch said: "What we want to see is common sense - protection for children and freedom for adults. We want to give parents some understanding that the Government understands what they're going through. So we want to bring in age limits."

After her interview, Andy Burnham, the Labour mayor of Greater Manchester, wrote on X: "I find myself agreeing with a lot of what Kemi Badenoch is saying about children and social media. It seems to me parents would welcome a cross-party consensus around much bolder action."

The NASUWT surveyed 5,800 teacher members in 2025 and found that about four in five (81%) reported an increase in the number of pupils exhibiting violent and abusive behaviour.

Nearly three in five (59%) of respondents to the same survey said they believed social media was one of the driving factors behind deteriorating behaviour. In a separate poll of 300 members, the NASUWT found 89% said they would support a statutory social media ban for under-16s.

The issues of the internet began when anonimity was removed. You can't cyberbully, be cyberbullied or have your pictures shared naked when you're only a handle on a text box called "Long rod von hugen dong".

People rawdogging the Internet, full name and a selfie as a profile picture, will never cease to amaze me as someone who was first online in the late 90s.
