A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

All women's sports are shit, except tennis and volleyball, and only those are watchable for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with the athletic skills of the players.

Greater Manchester Police are reporting a man raped two girls in Bolton over the weekend as well, this is fucking horrific. 'We won't release the footage because it will spark riots' okay so you know everyone is pissed about infinity browns raping women? awesome.
ETA: The man was an Afghan national, Sultani Bakatash, and he raped two 14 year olds. Quote from police

I don't actually believe the Palestine flag is red white and blue, I was acting shocked they've chosen to paint trains in the Union flag colours and not Palestine colours.

At this point it's multiple a day. People aren't angry enough. The midlands is about as deep as inland you can get from the shore, yet we're seeing multiple small-boat rapes in places like Warwickshire one of the whitest counties in the south.
 
Crowborough news- the town that is having 600 migrants forced on them- is starting a 'vigilante' patrol group that will be most active around the school run and evening. They are also funding for a legal battle. Emphasis is mine
Worried residents have set up a 'vigilante' group in a town that is set to house 600 adult male migrants in an army camp.
The Crowborough Patrol will wander the town centre day and night wearing hi-vis jackets and red baseball caps.
They say they want to be a 'visible deterrent' to prevent any 'unwanted activity' and protect families and children.
Organisers say the patrol team will concentrate their efforts on the morning and afternoon school runs and will be on the streets in the evening.
They say if they see any behaviour they believe 'warrants action' they will have the means to report it and to contact the authorities.
Last night one resident branded the group 'a bunch of vigilantes' and called for the police to step in.
He said: 'A bunch of vigilantes with too much time on their hands is the last thing this town needs.
'It is already a powder keg situation and what we don't need is for a self-appointed gang ready to put a flame to it. It's a provocation and should be stopped by the police.'
The group insists it has the 'full support' of the local community and has hit out against the vigilante claims by describing them as 'one comment on social media'. It said it will not directly intervene in any incidents, only report them on.
The launch of of the patrols is the latest controversy to hit the East Sussex town after the Home Office announced plans to house up to 540 undocumented migrant men aged between 18-65.
The men, who are free to come and go as they please, are to be housed in accommodation at the 37-acre cadet training camp as part of Labour's bid to reduce the use of asylum hotels.
Yesterday around 1,500 residents marched through the streets to protest against the Home Office plans.
A spokesperson for Crowborough Patrol said: 'Our aim is simple, be visible and a deterrent.
'Over the coming weeks and months, and who knows, maybe years, you will see us strolling around Crowborough, taking in the sights of the hot spots.
'We aim to be visible during the morning and afternoon school runs in term time, and as the evening sets in each day.
'We are not here to confront, we are here as local residents, concerned for the welfare of our town, and hopefully make a difference between unwanted activity and a peaceful place to continue living.'
The spokesperson said all patrol members must have a DBS check before starting work.

Weald District Council says it is taking the advice of senior barristers to explore what legal channels may be open to them should the Government press ahead with the plans.
It says it has serious concerns about staffing at the camp, police provision and the impact on health services.
Crowborough Shield - a grassroots organisation which has challenged the Home Office decision - has so far raised more almost £60,000 to fund legal action
The camp and barracks were previously used to accommodate Afghan families evacuated during the withdrawal from Kabul in 2021 before they were resettled elsewhere.
The camp itself has a proud history going back to the war, when it was used by Canadian forces preparing for D-Day.
Residents, especially those that live on their own, say they are installing panic alarms in their homes over safety fears.

The Home Office has apologised for its handling of its plans to use the the Crowborough camp to house asylum seekers but says it is determined to stamp out the use of hotels to house migrants.
The Crowborough Fast Reaction Patrol said in a statement: 'We are resident-led initiative created by people who want to play an active part in keeping the town feeling safe, welcoming and well looked after. Our volunteers give their time to provide a steady, visible presence in areas where residents often feel more comfortable when others are around.
'Patrol members can be identified by their branded high-visibility jackets and distinctive red caps. Our walks take us through key parts of Crowborough, including routes used during school-run times and the early evening period.
'The intention is simple: to discourage unwanted behaviour by being seen, to offer reassurance to those who live and work here, and to act as familiar, approachable faces within the community. We do not intervene or confront. Our role is based on visibility, calm observation and neighbourly support.'

Good on them, doesn't reek of a glowop unlike that new IRA video that came out a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it feels like a matter of when, not if, it all kicks off down there as well- free to come and go as they please? Will be interesting to see if the group learns from Epping at all and how the tragedy in Leamington will affect their plans. However very good to see locals caring about their safety.

As much as I hate police I would wager there are some local bobbies who are sick of the institutional rot and would be willing to look away if (IF) this Crowborough Patrol got into a few spats here and there (however I have seen a few locals mention that Cborough 'has no functioning police station'?) With the cadets being kicked out (+other barracks being used for migrants) I'd like to know how the army feels about this farce.
From their Facebook it's pretty obvious to me this is a genuine local group, and all the 'we are not enforcement we just report to the police' is likely to shield them from criticism. One to watch if legal battles kick off especially with the Green deputy leader being their MP. It seems the District Councillor also wholeheartedly supports the group. I'm getting a sort of BTEC Guardian Angels vibes from them.

It's actually hilarious how the left are still pushing for the benefits of immigration while the general public is currently at 'concentration camps'.

The funny thing is before WW2, concentration camps were a regular thing because it made sense that if you were fighting a war against X then maybe citizens of X in your country should be isolated. Now if concentration camps are mentioned then it's viewed as holocaust V2 which tbh is probably the public's next stage

It's one of those things that I take solace in; there IS a plan but it isn't as well thought-out as they make it out to be. I'm pretty sure the boomers in charge will be to dead to care when all of their constituents share the same color and low IQ.

All they’ve seen of the west is from tv, film, internet and adverts. It all looks like tarty women in barely any clothes who are dtf at the slightest provocation. Their women are well-behaved, cover up and look after families. To them, British women look like the sluts they’ve always seen in the media.

Assume the plan is meant to "fail" in exactly the way it is, just like we all knew it would. The public faces of Western politics are almost all retards, but some of the people who tell them what to do are not. Predictable outcomes are intended.

The plan appears to be—so assume it is—to end civilization so thoroughly that it's unrecoverable forever, and to do it as painfully, humiliatingly, and brazenly as possible. They believe it's their duty, their place, their calling (divine or at least higher than yours).

They go to work every day, just like anybody.

I'll say this, I think Boris Johnson going out of his way to stop the Russia-Ukraine peace deal years back might be tied with the Boriswave as the worst thing he ever did. It's now years later, tens if not hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian deaths later and all for a worse potential peace deal.

The Americans,specifically Joe Biden, shit canned any peace deal when the ruskies and europe agreed to putin's only red line of "do not park tanks on my borders". Biden was the only one to say "fuck you" to putin when the rest of europe knew it was a reasonable ask.
The rest of the negotiations on how far back those tanks should be and a possible dmz in exchange for cheap oil and gas could have happened. Ironically, what is going to happen now biden is gone, just with a death toll in the millions for the hassle.

you don't hate the americans enough.
