A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Bongs,

What's the vibe in Britain these days regarding fed posting? It seems like there's no rules anymore and that they can just lock you up on a whim? Are people scared or are they getting bolder? Are normy asses starting to twitch yet?
Basically we’re allowed to shout “fire” in a crowded theatre but if shouting that hurts anyone’s feelings, regardless if there is a fire or not, then we get sent to the gulag.

Even my hyper-liberal family members are starting to twig that infinity browns isn't a good idea (although they were already unconsciously mid White-flight before keir showed up)
They still still gush about their regular trips to sandnigger countries though.
Opinions are divided all over the workplace. I hear some pretty chuddy things from people but the same people also complain about people being racist in the news. They don't like the speech laws though.

I've said it before earlier in this thread, there's this weird 'quiet' atmosphere where everyone is silently seething and just waiting for the next local/general elections to vote for the furthest right party on the ballot paper. No, there won't be civil war. No, there won't be an IRA type campaign of political violence (unless Farage wins and Hope not Hate go full retard). It's just flags and mallicious compliance until voting day.

Absolutely every single person I've talked to has mentioned that the attacks on Farage seem like a hit job and nobody is buying it. Even my lefty friends started to squeak when I mentioned that what they've said in the past at school could be used against them in the future if this is allowed as a valid attack pattern.

Barton gets suspended sentence - we have free speech, but only up to a point and only if you attack the right people

Reacting to news of Barton's sentencing, Bike Nonce Vine said: "I'm happy the case is over.

"Joey Barton has been made to pay a lot for his disgusting lies and abuse, but I fear he'll keep offending until the day he dies."

In his victim impact statement, which was earlier read in court, the broadcaster said Barton's actions had been "profoundly traumatising".

"I felt my reputation was sullied," he said.

"Joey Barton is a small man who feeds off the pain of others."

In her statement, Rosemary Ward described Barton's posts as "irresponsible" and "hateful".

"I am now constantly afraid," she said. "Not just of the defendant, but the people he has incited against me and his history only heightens my fear."

She added the "barrage of hate" has left her "questioning my own worth".

In Fred Aluko's impact statement, she said Barton's comments were "abhorrent and the most offensive criticism she has experienced in her life" and she had to step up security as a result.

"I remain deeply upset with the malicious comparison to serial killers and feel humiliated given that millions of people will have seen this comparison," she said.

It was unwarranted and unjustified, she said, adding that as a result she was too scared to leave her house, resulting in cancelled engagements and loss of income.

"abhorrent and the most offensive criticism she has experienced in her life"

Queen Victoria:

Sir, we have never been so insulted in our entire lives!

Blackadder:
Well, all I can say is you've been damned lucky!

My family have been generally clued into it for a good long while, to a greater or lesser degree. Except they all still go to a multi-culti "foreigns welcome" liberal church (not anglican) and at least some are engaged in "ministry" that involved helping asylum seekers find accommodation. I've watched that church take in a couple of dozen "christians" from various middle-eastern shitholes; the church work hard to help them find work and housing, at which point these devout followers of christ suddenly stop attending church. They're all caught in a big cognitive dissonance about it, which led to an enlightening conversation a couple of weeks ago, when we were having the usual family rant about immigration and the state of the nation. I said at some point that over a million immigrants had entered, and one family member (I shall not name her relationship) stopped me short and said "don't say that. I can accept you saying a lot, but saying the number makes me uncomfortable." So I said it again just to poke her.

It obviously scares her that a million foreign men have entered the country every year since 2021, so while she understands there's an issue, she wants it to remain an abstract one that doesn't impinge on her directly and doesn't ask her to think hard-to-accept thoughts. That's where we're at, as a nation, I think. Total accept of the problem in the abstract, to the point of consistent and sporadically violent protest, but a refusal to address the specifics out of fear of the implications.

This should have been a civil matter, not a criminal one. The most Vine should have been able to do was take money off him for being a twat on twatter. The day they managed to make defamation and libel into crimes is the day this country fell apart, IMO.

I'm seeing stuff about Joey Barton getting sentenced on Twitter. I've been living under a rock with this case, but what did he even say for the law to go so heavy handed on him?

The moment anyone tells me I can't ( or I'm not allowed ) to say something, I will always double down, without hesitation.

"You can't say bomb on a plane"......I am Ben Stiller.

If she was part of a church helping them settle in, she facilitated it, so without being critical of you and yours, I'm afraid I have no sympathy for her.
I think you're right in the fact that a lot of people are at the stage of knowing the problem, understanding what needs to be done, but lacking the stomach to do what needs to be done ( and I don't believe this is something we can vote our way out of - sorry MIW and other fellow Nigel believers ).

I understand the whole dissociation thing, but believe me if I work from home and don't commute to Londonistan, I can go a few days in my location without seeing an invader, but uncontrolled immigration has been a huge issue to me for over 15 years. I don't need to see something with my own eyes to be able to visualise a threat. I can't see airborne diseases, but I know they are a danger. Perhaps I've always been racist, but I've always been more concerned with the impact that immigration has on our culture and way of life than anti any specific individual ( unless it's someone like Abu Hamza ) and I didn't need to see it where I lived for it to be an issue to me.

I think that is a huge factor in why it is now becoming THE issue- because it is now happening to the NIMBYs ( I couldn't suppress my laughter the other day in the office, when a liberal colleague I'd known for years who lives near me, told how his neighbour had sold out and he was going to live next door to a HMO, his face was one of disgust ). All the time it was happening in Londonistan and "Up North" they were fine with it, but now it is starting to happen down here, suddenly it's an issue. Now an issue, my friend's MP is a Liberal Democrat, which in my opinion tells you all you need to know and why I laughed - you reap what you sew.

The former head of the government's equalities watchdog has warned that a new definition of Islamophobia could be used against women's rights campaigners.
Baroness Falkner of Margravine, who finished her term in charge of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) last month, suggested the term could be used to silence people who “dare” to warn Muslim women are being suppressed.
Proposals for an official Islamophobia definition are currently being considered by Steve Reed, the Communities Secretary.
The move is designed to counter a surge in anti-Muslim abuse, but critics say it could stifle legitimate criticism of Islam as a religion, and act as a de facto blasphemy law.
The EHRC previously pushed back against the Government adopting an official definition of any kind, warning it would clash with existing legal provisions, which could cause potential confusion for courts and individuals
“If they’re going to bring in yet another area where, for example, anyone who’s defending women’s rights is going to be accused by those ethnic minority men of Islamophobia, if they dare say something about how Muslim women are suppressed. I’m a Muslim woman myself. I know all about this. I know the community.”
The latest warning from Lady Margravine comes just days after she accused Labour of abandoning women over issues like trans rights, because ministers are “terrified of their MPs”.
She also claimed the Government had failed to stand up for “oppressed and vulnerable” women and girls over the issue of grooming gangs, in an interview with The Times.
In opposition, the Labour Party incorporated a definition of Islamophobia into its code of conduct for party members. It stated: “Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness.”
Merely another distract whilst Labour leak more than Wolverhampton Wanderers' defence.
Wolves slander makes my day fuck the wanderers
Because some of the nationalities here are wildly racist themselves, and not just regards local rivalries from back home in never never land
Apologies for posting a reddit link but this reminded me of this post that's been doing the rounds on socials again. I worked with Poles who would always complain about Brits being racist to them but then would openly call for gassing of Albanians or something which was funny; but the racism from browns puts this website to shame. We are literally importing the racists we are supposed to be, the browns are taking our racism jobs

I think the biggest blackpill of all is seeing white citydwellers move to rural locations. They'll dance around the topic but it becomes abundantly clear that white people are being priced out of London, Birmingham, Manchester etc. while similtaniously seeing the bulk of their paypacket going towards a house/apartment/houseshare in an area that's quickly becoming more of a horror show as days go by.

I'll never forget the based old guy who I met in a rural pub ages back who effectively told me I'm not welcome to move there because people like me are pricing people like him out of rural housing. It's never just been about race, demographic changes send ripples throughout a community even if it's someone from halfway across the country.

This isn't going to quiet him down, this will make him go harder but smarter.

The state have been trying to destroy his life for the past five years in everyway possible just for saying women's football is shit. They tried to prosecute him for an assault on his wife which she said did not happen.

He knows they want him broke, dead, his kids raped and brainwashed, and they think it's funny. His has nothing to lose now as he knows they won't stop.

I think a game should be made were anytime someone sees Jeremey Vine in public, you call him a bike nonce.
This made me wonder if Jeremy Vine had never heard of the Streisand Effect? Not only is he a grown man getting upset my name calling (although massive error using the word nonce, you’re practically giving him free money at that stage) but if I was Vine I would now expect to have “bike nonce” screamed at me whenever I stepped outside and commented hundreds of times under any social media post I made.

Quite honestly I hope this happens.

Women's football is shit though? It's not even arguable. I watched most of the women's euros over the summer (just because it was on in the pub), and there would frequently be penalty shoot outs where neither team could score. To the point that it would be embarrassing. The commentators would run out of excuses for why no one could score. And this is with those tiny keepers in the net.

I don't think I've ever seen that in the mens game. One or two misses, sure. But not miss after miss like that. I'm not even a big football fan, but even to a casual viewer you can see the quality is shit. And these are supposed to be the best women's teams in Europe.

Joey Barton’s hands typed this.

Tbh Barton is a midwit at times, he can have some fairly interesting opinions (it's contentious whether or not they're actually his opinions or if he has a focus group that posts content for him) followed by the restraint of a child.

Had he just called him a bike nonce, that might have been it. But he suggested that Vine stay away from children's playgrounds and posted his home address.

It's why footballers make shit politicians, they've barely been told 'no' all their lives so when they hit retirement they're prone to spergouts. See Sol Campbell who got paid, became a Tory and screamed racism at all of his critics until he became irrelevant.
