A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Nah chemistry doesn't really need much electricity. It's the one science you can feasibly do in a shed. Yea you need cooling and heating but gas canisters and ice cubes. Everything else can be powered by battery. And idk what a 1641 beetle engine would look like, fairly sure that's just a horse.

A dog walker has died and another man has been seriously injured in a triple stabbing in west London.

So yea. That's the guy that died. I mean looking at it. Yea. Unsurprising.
I say that it was a string of attacks because there's only one guy in that video but two others in hospital. It seems that they only cordoned off one street though? So I'd guess he went on a stabbing spree along that road. Rather than one mass stabbing it was three in quick succession on the same road.

Boriswave + Rwanda - infinite migrants into the country is Tory and Labour policy, it's just one lies about it
PPE scams - allowing businesses to profit from the public purse while ensuring those some companies have positions for them when their political careers are dead is Tory and Labour policy, it's just one lies about it

They're not as open about it as I would like, but they're at least conducting an inquiry into the scale of the problem around that particular demographic, which the tories didn't do and only cared about once they could use it to score against labour so they're not the same.
Also your basis for thinking they are the same is because I say they're lying, which conveniently can't be proven. I don't think they're doing any of what they're doing around immigration or the rape gangs out of some moral high ground - they're doing it because they want to stay in power and that's what they need to do to stay in power. But they are doing it, and the tories didn't. The tories just siphoned off massive amounts of cash while people died. Excuse me, I need to use this site to be quite politically incorrect for a moment. Unimportant anecdote incoming.

I am sick of how a lot of muslims behave in public spaces. I have watched my lovely, friendly, polite (read: white) community erode from a steady inflow of muslims. A lot of them do not respect our culture in the slightest and often actively and vocally despise and denounce it. They can also be so fucking entitled and racist.
I was on the bus today. As usual, sparsely filled by mainly old white people or white families. Two rows behind me was a brown male, probably late teens, hood pulled over his face, rapping loudly into his phone. Shitty homemade bars about shooting, stabbing and generally hurting or killing people, mothers specifically at one point. Everyone, in typical English fashion, stared straight ahead and tried to pretend he didn't exist. I turned around and curtly asked him to stop; I might have been more polite if his lyrics weren't overtly violent and anti-social. He muttered something under his breath about manners (the gall!) in that accent they all have (you know the one) and then continued, now even louder out of spite. I again turned around and this time told him to stop. Did nada. Nothing at all. Silly me. This spurred on a couple of other people to say some words in an attempt to reason with him, which I assume he took as racist persecution. At this point some other brown male decided to move to the seat next to him and said "don't worry bro, it's just white people" again in that tryhard arab roadman accent. There was one young woman travelling alone who even tried to get him to stop despite being visibly uncomfortable and on-edge. I got off before her and could only wish her luck as I left.
What do you even do next in that situation? We all had to just suck it up and put up with it. No one had the energy to keep trying to appeal to his nonexistent sense of shame or reason, and no one wants to run the risk of getting stabbed (something that would have seemed absurd and paranoid in my area 10 years ago) by an uppity arab/afghan/pakistani. There was a knife murder just down the road from me extremely recently by the usual suspects, almost completely unheard of historically but yet not surprising now.
As a bonus track, whilst waiting at the bus terminal there was a group of 5 young middle-eastern girls sat next to me absolutely screaming and cackling at the top of their lungs about group chat drama or some shit. Just absolutely no volume awareness or consideration for anyone else just sitting or conversing quietly. I watched an old lady stare them down before getting out of her seat and standing away from them. A short while later, when all the seats had been filled in the section, I got up and asked if she would like to have my seat, to which she kindly refused and explained she only moved because the girls were being so loud. Imagine being so socially noxious and ill-mannered that you force an old woman to stand for 30+ minutes, and then feeling no sense of shame or self-awareness about it. These kinds of people are completely incompatible with polite British society. We have no immune response to them anymore. They used to be kept in check by being treated as pariahs and ostracized from social circles, but the only social circles they're in are culturally completely alien so why would they care. I've spoken to many muslims who wouldn't be caught dead attempting to in any way integrate into our culture. They don't feel ashamed by their behaviour in the community because they see themselves as above the community. Polite society is a weakness to be manipulated for personal advantage or pleasure.
Oh I almost forgot, hidden DVD easter egg: Today I also had to walk by a gang of masked muslims riding about on the plaza on dirt bikes and setting off fireworks next to a war memorial, directly under some trees. Young children trying to enjoy half term with their families were crying in their parents' arms because they were terrified of the loud bangs right fucking next to them and the scary people in black masks driving bikes all over the place. It would be so cathartic to just chin one one of these days but then I'd be the bad guy. The way things are going I'm not sure I'm going to even recognize where I live in my later years.

These underclass types get their power because the law doesn't harm them for their behaviours. If a productive member of society was to fight back though, the law comes down on you hard. Your freedom, your job, your house, gone. Not a problem if you've never worked or honestly obtained anything in your life. If there was a Purge type situation where we could whack these sorts with no repurcussions, no problem. But there isn't. The only ways one could be not 'vulnerable' is to be prepared, carry a weapon or something, and risk one day being found out and fucked over by the law, whether you've had to use it or not. Or the other way is to just be a scumbag yourself.

On a related note, my personal theory for why pikeys never really got a foothold in America is the 2nd Amendment and stand your ground laws. Quite hard to rock up in a caravan and be a violent thieving shitstain if you're just going to be shot.

Bit late but on the subject of charities. I always go look at their accounts. It’s amazing looking at where the money actually goes at the big charities. Some of the little ones are really great however and they do a lot of good on a shoe string.

I needed an operation and because I fell in a grey area the NHS were dicking about and a tiny charity pulled some strings and got it done a bit quicker. Then a second tiny charity picked up the pieces when the NHS fucked it up.
