A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Why an evacuation in November?
My arse twitches around Bonfire night - as much as it is my favourite annual event and seems to be dying down.
I hope something isn't planned for November. Ship out the Brits to fight in Palestine, bring in the palestinians who don't want to fight.
Apologies for your twitchy arse, Duane, I just hope it doesn't leave you 'tongue tied...'

Christ almighty, I'm off here for 24 hours and Null gives it a makeover...

Not staying long, and @Duane Dibbley might be right that something might be happening in November.

Starmer needs a distraction and talk of Ukraine people or Gaza people coming here will (he think) help him and his ratings. It will do anything but.

Universities will be closing early, that's all I can tell you, and some might not reopen for the academic year due to a) a dearth of places and therefore finances down the pan, b) lecturers and staff wanting a wage rise, with strikes planned if they're told 'no' and c) staff having enough of the pro-Palestine activists refusing to leave academic premises.

Also, news from these parts which will be impacting on Westminster - the Welsh/Senedd Budget 'will not pass' if Reform UK win the Caerphilly by-election, and spending will be cut by 25% as a result.

If the UK's Budget also fails to pass, it won't just be Duane's arse twitching - this will then lead to the end of Labour in Government, possibly permanently.

I have made a concession in my GE thread that if a GE gets called this year but takes place in January 2026 (the only other two January ones have taken place in 1910 and 1924) then @Chunky Salsa need not worry about his Warwick Davis post as both of us will have got it wrong.

Talking with 'certain people' today, it is not a case of hoping Labour will fail it's an expectation (even with some former Labour backers) that we are heading towards the end; McSweeney is apparently in big trouble over some 'Whatsapp' messages in which he wished direct harm on Nigel Farage and Reform UK as well as making crass comments about white, working class Britons.

Whilst things appear to be bleak, they usually are at the start of the revival.

They're showing an undercover documentary on BBC about institutional racism in the police force. Of course, most the racist stuff they said was completely agreeable. How does one catch out an undercover journalist?
Ngl kinda suspect they release this the day another paki rape gang gets a combined 174 years in prison.

There’s not going to a general election until they legally have to do it.

Labour don’t want to be wiped out. The Conservatives don’t want to be wiped out. The Lib Dem’s and the Greens don’t want power, they are just a social club for sexual deviants.

We just going to have a bunch of weak Labour PMs whilst Tories make noises about an unelected Prime Minister, just like Labour did in opposition.

You lads need to lay off the copium and breath in some of that disgusting real air.

I for one welcome our new Hamas overlords.

Ok so I just watched that pakistani incest documentary | [PT A]. It's pretty good. I wouldn't say you must right now watch this but it is worth it. The main fucking question I have is its fucking legal to marry my first cousin??????????????? Genuinely. What the fuck? I thought that was correctly labelled as incest and made illegal? I genuinely thought that they all went back to their disgusting lawless shitholes to marry their cousins not just did it in England. Fucking hell. I'll just assume it's the same as Welsh sheep laws where it was legal to fuck them because no one thought someone would actually do that to make it illegal. There's a statistic, average children's hospital sees 20-30 genetic defects per decade, a Bradford (lol) hospital saw 165. They have a part at the end with a Birmingham hospital (of course) that talks about how they got a shit load of vandalism and threats and all that lot from the pakis as a result of saying "fucking your cousin over doubles risk of genetic defects". They talk about how it's something they should treat with care and take it slowly and all that lot, talking one on one with people or whatever. I say fucking bullshit. We have made raping children illegal despite mohammed doing just that. We made forced marriage illegal despite that being a traditional muslim passtime. Same for raping animals which is about as disgusting. Oh yea, we've also banned stoning women to death in the street for fun, same for burning them at the stake like is a cultural tradition in pakistan. We've already banned a lot of disgusting traditions from the third world. Why have we decided that actually this equally disgusting tradition is perfectly fine? There's also this fucking absolute but I did have breakfast this morning but worse level retardation from the pakis. They have this absolute mutant child and then turn around and say well it can't happen twice in a row right? And then it fucking does because it's a 25% chance and they're fucking pakis of course they have more than 4 kids. The family in the clip I posted where he's wailing on the ground worse than any autist or downie would, that family had six fucking kids. The guy on the floor is the second. They decided that after pushing out an affront to God and Nature to push out another four of the things. Guess what happens? They have a third kid. Fine. The fourth is another fucking dead weight genetic waste child. I've already spoilt it but surely after two of these genuine monstrosities you'd stop right? Nope. Fifth kid, another mutant. Then they had a fucking sixth? Imagine shitting out three ricky berricks and deciding yep we'll try for a fourth? What the fuck is wrong with them and why did we not inject some bleach in the father's balls after the third kid? Also they describe it as just being deafblind and unable to walk. But you have eyes. The mutant on the floor wailing like the most obvious retard there is isn't just having sensory issues. There's clearly some mental retardation there. Not only the obvious shit but the fucking guy that is deaf and blind and cannot fucking walk keeps going on about how much he wants to drive a car. The thing is, that isn't some terminal condition, all three of the things will more than likely outlive the parents. Who do you think pays for their care then? I mean we already are now. Later in the documentary they talk to a load of pakis. They all give the same 'but I am a product of incest and I turned out totally fine' and synonyms of that. They think that a fucking 25% chance to birth a warwick davis is actually so low that it's not even worth worrying about. They turned around and said to the woman that informed them that 10% of paki kids have genetic defects that are normally (unfortunately not 100% though) fatal and they said ahh well that means 90% are born totally fine so there's nothing to worry about. Literally the mindset of shitting out as much human waste as possible as long as some of it is somewhat normal. It is genuinely fucking disgusting and to be perfectly honest you should be fucking pissed. The entire thing. Even the white couple where the woman married her own fucking uncle which the ages there is another level of disgusting. But jesus fuck.

The main take away from this documentary is YOU CAN NEVER HATE THEM ENOUGH. If I could do so without threat of arrest I would genuinely write to my mp and say this shit needs to be criminalised this second. Their job is to do what is best for the country, not flooding our already swamped healthcare with absolute mutants is best for this country. If you cannot make the difficult choices then you do not deserve the job. Even though personally I do not think the choice should be hard at all. You either stop fucking your cousins or you fuck off back to your shithole where you can pump out all the genetic waste you want far from our healthcare systems. There is no negative here. There is no reason for this disgusting shit to be legal, even coming from the guy that will continually stand by libertarian freedom type shit. The negative is that incest freaks are upset. Boo hoo. Kill yourself. You are on the same level as animal and child rapists, I do not care about your traditions or feelings, they are disgusting and barbaric. Maybe this is just personal opinion but I see the people in this video as worse than dog fuckers.
Found the most terrifying video ever, straight from Labour conference. Why does he look so sickly?
Oh no. Divisive. What a terrible thing to be. But it's ok to import hordes of people that fuck their cousins and have turned the objectively correct statement of 'incest is fucking disgusting and wrong' into a divisive statement? If the country needs to be 'talked down' then maybe consider agreeing or at the very least listening to the problems the country has, you know instead of outright denying to even listen, bypassing your own laws and creating exceptions just to fuck over the people who are 'worked up', telling them that only the rights of illegal migrants matter and that they are all racist and being arrested. Maybe? But what would I know about people? I'm just a lowly construction worker, clearly I am simply too dumb to understand how kicking a wasps nest while naked will do something other than getting you stung. Right? There are times where the country is worked up, sometimes the masses get pissed off over nothing. But this is not one of them. It is entirely normal to want something that has the word 'illegal' in the name to be treated as a crime. You are not 'worked up' because you want the government to give a shit about you and stop doing things that are actively and overtly harmful to this country for their own gain. To be frank you should be worked up.
Redditors say that the men in the navy would refuse to shoot small boats in the channel even when ordered to do so, and that's one reason to not do it. I know nothing about the navy, so is that really true?
Time and time again this has been proven to be bullshit. The entire training process for any military is to turn you from a person with thoughts into someone who follows orders without thought. If you are told shoot the boat then you shoot the boat. If you are told help the boat over the channel then you help the boat over the channel. If you are told to shoot the civilians in the middle east then you shoot. Obviously a simplification but even in general it's been proven constantly that being told to do something by a figure you see as a superior will end in you doing it regardless of personal morals. If the admirals say shoot then the channel turns red. Simple as.

For the first point in Bold - this is true, but their hands are very quickly being forced - the forthcoming bleed-out to Your Corbyn and MP's leaving (of their own volition) because they support Burnham and not Starmer is going to cause issues for the Government to get anything passed.

For the point I've marked in Italics it's Starmer who doesn't want this - the rest of the party who don't support him haven't got loyalty to him nor Labour. You need to remember the childish attitude that some of these Student Union type of politicians have...

'but I want...'
'You can't have it!'
'WAAH! Now you've upset me, now I'm going to leave and join the other party - they're more fun than you! *RASPBERRY NOISES*'

For the second point in Bold - don't forget that the purpose of Government is to ensure that bills and laws are passed. There will be never-ending bottlenecks if the PM is unable to do his/her job and whilst this is manna from heaven for Reform UK etc. if the Government is failing or faltering then a VONC in it will equal the end result of a GE.

Plus if Hamas were really going to take over, you think that the wokes wouldn't declare a state of emergency? 'Yeah, we were way too edgy boys and girls in the end - we wanted to rule them, but they reverse Uno'd us...'

Isn't he trying to do some sort of catwalk type strut? I'm not sure why, as the message about checking what Reform are doing, doesn't lend itself to some sort of play on models or fashion. But I do think it's what he's doing with the hand on the hip, hip jut and head nod before turning to walk back.
Oh yeah, I meant the very end of the walk when he turns around and does the toddler walk once he's done.

If we don't get a Willow thread I will be deeply disappointed. It's been more hyped than any marvel movie ever made.
As a compromise, how about a nice game of Tenable?

Something to change the record a bit, article on what an undercover cleaner found working at a care home in Scotland. Really depressing stuff:

I went undercover as a cleaner at a failing care home. Here's what I witnessed

https://archive.ph/uct5c

Yeah, it's a "failing" care home but I think we all know there will be many more running like this. Lose any remaining dignity you have while you die lonely. My own mum has said many times she will commit suicide before going to a care home.

What to do about it though? Everyone knows care workers are not paid anywhere near enough for the job, problem number 1. The homes say they can't recruit, no shit, then say how they are investing big money in the facilities so Doris can piss herself surrounded by new wallpaper. Healthy profits all round because of the captive audience.

It's really tragic. Do the government try even more legislation, specify a higher minimum wage for the job that likely still won't be much more than working at McDonalds, then give up and say migrants are the answer? Are there enough British people left who would want to do this job, even for good money? It's a situation that is only going to get worse as time goes on and people get older. As much as I'm against bringing in zero skill um bongo from Nigeria etc, I'm not heartless enough to say no either if that's the only choice.

I hope I don't get old enough to need a care home.

This man has, and may Allah forgive me for saying this. ugly cousins.
Nah. My only female cousin is pretty attractive, niece is pretty cute too. Doesn't mean I'm going to fuck either of them or that it should be legal to. Though I do still see my cousin as a child even if she's in her 20s now. Idk I'm not a fucking ape who thinks that any romantic or sexual interest absolutely must result in a relationship or sex.

Plus most of these pakis are doing it in arranged marriages anyway so looks don't even matter.
Really depressing stuff:
Yea I won't say because it's kf but I'm entirely unsurprised. Idk I would never want a medical suicide thing to ever be a legal option just from looking at Canada but if I ever get to that age I hope firearms are more easily accessible. I imagine it must be one of the absolute worst jobs in the country, there's no upside, there's no oh well this person went through years of hell but with my surgery skills I gave him a future, it's just you are surrounded by walking corpses and nothing but constant decline. If dementia patients needed life support no one would ever feel bad about pulling the plug. The rest of the elder care systems are also fucked too.

I've thought, if I could legally walk through a care home with a bunch of lethal injections in hand offering to be an angel of painless death, how many would take me up on it. Then out of those people, how many are taking that route because they are in a care home and are sick of the indignity and isolation, rather than because they feel their life has had its meaning and is at its natural end? That's also why I'm against voluntary euthanasia, unless it's something like terminal agonising cancer etc. How many people will choose suicide, just because the care homes are greedy with money? On the other hand, if half the residents check out perhaps the care homes will start changing their ideas, a happy resident is one that wants to stay alive. It's a hard one

how many would take me up on it
The problem I have is consent, though I do agree with everything else you said. I personally do not think that most care home patients are mentally capable enough to even understand what you're asking. If it was signed beforehand when they were fully lucid then I'd still be a bit iffy. It's hard to talk about because I just legally fucking can't. But where would you draw the line in that case? If someone says they fully consent to a lethal injection when they become old and incapable then what does that mean? How do you quantify that? There's people in care homes because they broke a leg and can't walk so need care and there's people with serious dementia that are just living on their own as though nothing changed. The only person that can decide what is and isn't too far gone is the person themselves but often times they cannot tell you when they are too far gone because they are too far gone to realise that they are too far gone.

I think that it just comes down to the same issues I have with modern healthcare in general, their focus on exclusively reducing mortality without a thought or care for morbidity. Yea with enough pills they can stop you dying at 70 and drag it out to 80. But is that really doing no harm? Is preventing someone's body from naturally shutting down gracefully really doing less harm than keeping them alive until their fucking brain starts to literally rot inside their skull? I don't think people realise quite what Alzheimer's is, it's not just forgetting things, it is a complete shut down in mental capacity, your brain starts to atrophy and die until it is no longer capable of necessary bodily functions. You don't just forget your name, you lose the ability to remember how to breathe or your heart to pump. It's not a case of will I - won't I, you will develop alzheimer's eventually, the only question is if something else will kill you first. Same with all the inbred pakis. Death is the ultimate cure. I'd rather take the money you'd spend on a carehome and buy a few grands worth of heroin and coke and just have an absolute fucking bender that kills me. As much as I want to grow old with her, I don't want to burden her with me when I am old. I want to grow old with her in the sense of spending from now until old age together and stop there. Once again, I cannot say why but trust me when I say there is seldom few things I want less than to burden someone I love with my own care. I want to grow old together, to spend the rest of my life with her until we are old and our bodies start to fail, then I want to be buried with her. Nothing more.

Care homes are where old people are sent to die, it's an inherently perverse business model and IMO it's a social evil much like Victorian workhouses.
I agree it's a fucked situation, but what else should be done? In the past I suppose with mostly men being the breadwinners and women being housewives, the woman would probably be the carer. Maybe not for too long either because today's medicines can extend lifespan far beyond what is natural, at some point you're using the wonders of modern medicine keeping a corpse animated which is basically necromancy. Fucked up. In today's world though, the man and woman needs to work because everyone's wages have suffered and everything costs so much like houses etc so they can't afford to stop work to be a carer, but also can't afford the care home I guess? The more I think about it the more I hope all my loved ones die in their sleep before anything crippling happens to them.

there is seldom few things I want less than to burden someone I love with my own care.
It's awful to think about but yes, I can get that. What is worse, knowing that sooner or later the time will come where you are nothing but an emotional and financial burden to the person you have loved and lived with forever, or deciding to end your life and leave them behind, dealing with that trauma instead. Perhaps the lucky ones are those who die together in a car crash age 80.

I agree it's a fucked situation, but what else should be done?
Multigenerational households where you keep grandma in the attic or something work just fine for every other culture, saves on childcare too, it's looked down on for some reason and I blame capitalism unironically. If dementia ruins the adventure it's time for the pillow special simple as. Of course this leaves out people who don't reproduce, but the whole point of being raised in the first place is that you perpetuate a cycle of somesort; if you fail to at least contribute enough to this that you're worth keeping around you're a broken branch, and belong in the compost heap.

That, and keeping people alive for years longer than they have any natural expectation to is simply deranged, as sick and twisted as gender ideology even, it's good and proper not to want to die but going to insane leaps and bounds to keep pensioners not-dead is simple insanity.

I don't want to burden her with me when I am old.
Not aimed at you FFH but i think this mentality has partially led to the current nursing home situation: that caring for our fellow man is a burden and that being cared for is embarrassing or a failure. As much as I disagree with Munchie/Spoonie types, accepting help when ill or injured, needing assistance/accomodations and giving help (which is what they often leave out) is part of what makes us a civilised people. We were caring for each other even back in the cave man days. Selfishness has also arisen for countless reasons be it societal, economic, spiritual, whatever, and has stopped people remembering the simplest motto, treat others how you wish to be treated.
Also importing foreigners to work there- why would they care about a frail white person? and treating these homes as for-profit only while unbothered councils look away makes the carehome problem worse. Sexual abuse coverups, constantly changing nonsense regulations such as no longer using the term "profound autism" to refer to people who need care. Even when you do help a disabled/elderly person some of them are incredibly spiteful, difficult, or will take advantage of you (MobilityMary is a classic). Not accepting that people will just die and keeping them alive for as long as possible...

I'm not sure anyone knows how to fix the death camp nursing homes (they 1000% took a relative of mine off her antibiotics during lockdown, bastards). It's not something you can solve with solely raising careers wages (tho it would help, some) or overnight. It's like every other issue in this country, it's a deep institutional rot. However I would point the finger most at the downfall of the idea of 'community' and knowing ones neighbours name, the rise of individualism, particularly a lot of "fuck your family" ideas- ^echoing the unironic blame of capitalist ideas to Move Out and Live Alone above. Until your average John remembers that one day too he will need help and there for he ought to help others the Careschwitz deathtoll will rise, but im a bleeding heart fag and i hate how this country and its people treat the disabled and elderly. Remember, it will be you one day.
