A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

But the chance of a 1916 style military takeover of london is pretty low. Chances of recreating the troubles is higher but still pretty low. There are no targets really, who are you meant to shoot? There's no head of musliming. Not entirely high unless Prince William reveals he is actually extremely based (not tremendously likely, sadly) and decides to attempt a takeover after deposing his father. The monarch is actually the Head of our Armed Forces and has supreme military authority, even today.
Whether the army would actually follow the monarch/future monach for the sake of the country's future isn't really clear though, they do take an oath to the current monarch and the heirs to the crown, but the British monarch has a fuckload of theoretical power. Of course, actually using any of that power would cause an immediate constitutional crisis, but fuck it, we're in about 16 different crisis anyway already so whatever.

The french have a significantly larger navy than we do. It's a bit hard to get a good comparison but most places seem to quote a 60-100 vs 110-130 english to french. We also have less infantry but considering we are a fucking island nation where the only thing that matters at all is the sea it is fucking retarded as all hell. Our military doesn't say anything because the only thing the military have to deal with is defending israel and that's about it. We can't defend ourselves because it's the foreigner's 'human rights' to invade us. The only thing that the military is used for nowadays is to make whatever faggot the royalty pushes out look better after a short stint that is of course always surrounded by mere peasants that are there to take the bullets instead of the royal. Veterans fucking hate it but I would say I am biased to only see veterans that hate it. But at this point I think it is fair to say that the majority of English people are voting reform, saying most veterans hate it would be just true from statistics. I would assume giving your life for a country that now wants to somehow take even more than that is not very popular though. The military managed to defend the falklands (which israel just said is argentinian which is just kinda funny) and just about managed to not implode against a bunch of paddies while only murdering a few civilians by 'mistake'. Oh yea also fucked around chasing a goat fucker in a desert for a while which did nothing but empower different terrorist groups and kill a load of english people in terrorist attacks. The military has done fucking nothing for almost a century. Well other than the ones that are helping bring the immigrants ashore that is.
