https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Things change when you see your salary slip.
A big part of the whole "everyone turns Conservative when they turn 40" is the whole "has to pay for this shit" aspect, it's why students are always so glib with other people's money; it's not theirs anyway, yet we all become misers when it's us that's being bled to even the scales out
You can't teach this sort of understanding it has to one-sided learned, some people never get it though hence the Tarquins and Fionas that too often end up deciding how much flesh you "owe".

I was in Northern Ireland earlier in the year, and had a chuckle to myself about how much those lads love their flegs, and how they demarcated the sectarian battle lines.
I also had the experience of finding myself in an area that clearly wasn't for people with my accent, and made a swift exit.

Now I think on it, we're effectively already there on the mainland but it's still mostly one-sided. Lots of areas where whitey is going to get preyed on if he dares appear, but not so much in the other direction. If they keep it up however, I can see places starting to go "no brown" in fairly short order

Every left wing party has already said that it is their moral duty to oppose Farage.
Yes? Made In Wales was talking about a budget Labour want to pass.

Minor one amongst the Davey shitposting, even the BBC have pointed out Davey's claim we could return people to the EU pre-Brexit under that agreement does not mention people were sent to us under the same. And both before and after the vote the incoming only went up.

Of course the BBC's coverage also begged him to undo Brexit because they will never get over it.

Meanwhile Labour continue with plan, "call everyone a pedo."
A Labour council leader is under fire after claiming St George flag campaigners were “nonces”.
Jeremy Newmark, the Labour leader of Hertsmere borough council, Hertfordshire, described Operation Raise the Colours as “an attempt by a bunch of criminals, extremists [and] nonces to hijack our national flag”.
He made the comments, which triggered gasps from his fellow councillors, at a meeting on Sept 17 in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
He is now facing calls to resign, with Conservative colleagues accusing him of “forfeiting his integrity” and “pushing people apart”.

Operation Raise the Colours is a political campaign that involves displaying the Union Flag and St George’s Cross in public places.
Critics of the campaign have associated it with far-Right activism, with many local authorities removing flags whenever they appear, but the movement has been defended as a display of patriotism.

Mr Newmark made the remarks in response to Conservative councillor Brett Rosehill’s question as to whether he supported the Liberal Democrat-run Hertfordshire county council’s decision to remove the flags in the coming weeks.

Mr Rosehill said: “You’ve spoken about extremists, do you accept that by constantly linking our national flag to extremism [...] as well as many Labour MPs at the moment, that you run the risk of letting extremists define it instead of reclaiming it for the mainstream?”
In response, Mr Newmark said: “I’m sorry but I’m not playing. I won’t be taking lectures on our national flag and extremism from a councillor that has the audacity to speak in almost glowing terms in his question to this council about Operation Raise the Colours.
“Operation Raise the Colours – an organised and orchestrated attempt by a bunch of criminals, extremists, nonces to hijack our national flag. Yes, Cllr Rosehill, this is the organisation that you cited in glowing terms in your question – look at the individuals behind that organisation, look at the individuals behind Tommy Robinson’s event this weekend.

“Look at their string of criminal convictions, sex offences, and such like, if those are the people that councillors in the group opposite see fit to quote in this chamber, see fit to laud in this chamber and to see fit to use as part of normative political discourse – something is very wrong.”

Earlier this month, Sir Keir Starmer told BBC Radio 5 Live: “I’m very encouraging of flags. I think they’re patriotic and I think they’re a great symbol of our nation.”
He also said: “I don’t think they should be devalued and belittled. I think sometimes when they’re used purely for divisive purposes, actually it devalues the flag. I don’t want to see that. I’m proud of our flag.”
Yvette Cooper, the Foreign Secretary, also said she owned Union Jack and St George’s flag bunting and tablecloths.
After Mr Newmark’s comments, Hertsmere borough council’s Conservative Group has called on him to resign immediately as leader of the council and leader of the Labour Group.
The Conservative Group has since written directly to Mr Newmark, whose Lab-Lib coalition has governed Hertsmere since 2023. The letter demands his immediate suspension or resignation pending a full Labour Party investigation.

They said: “Our borough deserves leadership that unites, respects, and upholds the highest standards – not one that fuels division and disrespect.
“His words have had real consequence over the weekend, stirring hostility and undermining community cohesion.”

Lynette Sullivan, the leader of the Conservative Group, said: “The words I said in Full Council that night still ring true. It is up to us, as local leaders and Conservatives, to step forward with calm, clarity, and compassion to bring people together, not push them apart. Cllr Newmark’s words have had far-reaching consequences. He modelled behaviour that was not in the best interests of residents and must be held accountable.”
Harvey Cohen, the deputy leader of the Conservative Group, added: “Any leader who insults residents and undermines trust has forfeited integrity. Hertsmere deserves better – he must resign.”
Alex Clarkson, the deputy chairman of Hertsmere Conservative Association, said that Labour “bang on about diversity and inclusion, but only when it is on their terms. As long as you agree with them you’re fine. If not, you’re cancelled. Well, Conservatives won’t be cancelled. He needs to go”.

Hope not Hate, an advocacy group which campaigns against racism and neo-fascism, said in a report published in August: “While there is nothing wrong with flying the nation’s flags, Hope not Hate can reveal that the key organisers behind much of this activism are hardened and extreme far-Right activists.”
Mr Newmark was contacted for comment.
Meanwhile to celebrate the UK and others calling them a legitimate country Hamas stages a few public executions on the streets.
Footage has emerged showing the public executions of three men accused of being Israeli collaborators in Gaza City.

BBC Verify has verified that the location of the executions was a street outside Shifa hospital in the centre of the city, which is the focus of a major Israeli ground offensive.

Videos circulating on Sunday evening showed at least five armed and masked men, three blindfolded Palestinian men kneeling on the ground and a large crowd.

One of the armed men is heard saying: "The death sentence has been decided for all collaborators".
There are cheers before the three men are pushed to the ground and shot several times in the back of the head. The crowd then praises Hamas's armed wing, the Qassam Brigades.

A Palestinian security official from the Hamas-run Gaza government told Reuters that the executions were carried out by the "Joint Operations Room of the Palestinian resistance".

This is a rare instance in which a public execution in Gaza has been captured on video. There have been previous reports of Hamas using violence on those who dissent. In May, Hamas-led groups reportedly executed four Palestinians for looting aid trucks.

In Sunday's footage, one armed man singles out Yasser Abu Shabab as a "major collaborator" who they seek to kill.

Abu Shabab is major figurehead of a clan which has reportedly been armed by the Israeli government. It has been operating in Rafah, in an area under Israeli military control. The group has presented itself as an opposition force to Hamas.

In July Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Israel was arming clans in Gaza that he said were opposed to Hamas. However, Yasser Abu Shabab posted online to "categorically reject" that Israel had supplied his group's weapons.

That same month, a senior officer in Hamas's security forces told the BBC that the Palestinian armed group had lost much of its control over the Gaza Strip and that armed clans were filling the void.

Abu Shabab's armed group has been advertising for recruits on social media, Reuters reported. The news agency quoted residents and sources close to Hamas as saying that other groups opposed to Hamas had also emerged in parts of northern Gaza and near Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
Israeli troops meanwhile have continued to operate in Gaza City. The Israeli military said troops had "dismantled military infrastructure used by Hamas" and killed a Hamas cell that had attacked Israeli soldiers, wounding an officer.

It has said its objectives are to free the hostages still held by Hamas and defeat up to 3,000 fighters in what it has described as the group's "main stronghold".

However, the offensive on Gaza's biggest urban area, where one million people were living and a famine was confirmed last month, has drawn widespread international condemnation.

Last week a spokeswoman for the UN's humanitarian office said she had seen a constant stream of Palestinians heading south during a recent visit to the city, but that hundreds of thousands remained in the city. She described the situation in the city as "cataclysmic".

The Israeli military launched a campaign in Gaza in response to the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage.

At least 65,344 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since then, according to the territory's Hamas-run health ministry.

Elsewhere, someone is moving against McSweeney. The Mail on Sunday ran a story on how the think tank Labour Together, which was founded by McSweeney in 2017 as a vehicle for taking the party back from Corbyn, banked over £700,000 in donations between 2017 and 2020 but only declared one to the Electoral Commission, worth £12,500. In 2019 McSweeney approached Starmer with this warchest and said it would be his if he promised to run for the leadership after the general election. When McSweeney left Labour Together to become Starmer's full-time puppeteer, his replacement found the hidden donations and alerted the EC, who investigated. Labour Together insisted that it had been a genuine oversight on their part and were fined about £15k - a slap on the wrist.

The new element of the story on Sunday is that someone leaked to the Tories that LT were lying, that they knew full well that the donations should have been declared and that a friendly lawyer, Gerald Shamash (made a peer by Starmer in 2024), advised them to claim that the failure to declare was a mistake rather than deliberate and guided them on how best to do this.

I think this might be it lads, McSweeney is going to be eaten by the wolves for this one and whether or not he drags Keith into the kennel with him is what's up in their air right now, doubt he's not the vindictive type.
There'll be no sweeping this one up, it's not a little bit of expenses fiddling it's outright corruption and they have the receipts too :story:

Oooooh!

I did hear from a former Labour staffer recently, and she told me that a lot of people (20% roughly in each constituency) were turned away from Polling Stations even with correct ID's.

If they 'didn't look like Labour voters' they were 'encouraged to leave.'

However...

After 8pm at these constituencies, people with no ID could vote - this of course includes bussed-in migrants whose handlers 'voted for them'.

There is always a 'late surge' for Labour on Polling Day, they say.

Doing the math in my brain, if I can assume that 20% of the vote locally would have gone to Reform UK and Tories on a 15%/5% split then my constituency would have had over 10,000 votes for the Reform UK candidate and Labour would only have got 9050 votes or thereabouts.

How many constituencies were cheated?

If a Labour MP had won by a landslide and it could be proven that he/she had a great backing, then great that person deserves to have won, but Labour cannot and will not provide proof that they haven't cheated.

The biggest cheat in Wales (reported in a story which cost Nation Cymru's now Chief Editor Martin Shipton his job at Media Wales) was 4000 late 'votes' were dumped at a Cardiff West Polling Station early in the morning of the 2021 Senedd Election; Neil McEvoy of Propel was due to win the seat with a 570 majority, but all of a sudden these votes were added and Mark Drakeford 'surprisingly' re-took his seat.

If it came out that the 2021 Senedd and 2024 General Elections were fixed, then the outcry would be something we've not seen as a country in our history. Civil unrest? That's putting it mildly.

I went down a rabbit hole after watching this video on twitter.

It illustrates in a nutshell the postiion that quangos occupy in the UK, and the managerial class that have been a drain on the state for the last 30 years. Someone in a reply responded with this.

I know a retired boomer who (along with a group of his friends) had done free volunteering for years for Natural England.Forestry management, maintaining bridges and walkways - felling damaged trees, stuff like that.Apparently the whole organisation got taken over by jobsworths who used "health and safety concerns" to put a stop to all the volunteering. That left them with nothing to do in their retirement - but it also meant this vital work would no longer be done. Why?Empire building - they wanted to trigger a crisis to demand more funding so they could hire people people and elevate their careers. That's how these organisations work - stop everyone doing everything so that we can justify expansion of our staff to 'manage' it

What's really interesting though is that once the video started to get a bit of traction the replies started to be swamped by online 'activists'. Demanding to know who were funding 'Looking for Growth' because they're not getting their money from Soros or a state grant like honest people.

If you want to know why Britain is fucked just read through the thread, eventually Natural England reply saying 'of course' it's not cancelled they've just given the organisers some options, and they're waiting to hear back.

Fucking Starmer is desperate to speed up building in the UK yet he's given groups like natural england more powers in the recent planning bill. He's literally funding groups to drag the government through the courts. He even reversed some of the very minor restrictions the last government put on them.

It's crazy how many "asylum seekers" can afford trips back home multiple times a year and that doesn't effect their claim of asylum.
Until the UK overwrites its asylum law and eliminates the "international human rights lawyer" class that pursues these, it legally cannot do a thing about this. It's how Starmer can do things like say he's going after "illegally" present people. Refugees are legally present in the UK as long as the application is processing. So he can say he's clamping down on illegals but not have to touch his precious asylum seekers. Remember he's from the Blairite class that hates the pre-1990 English ethnos in particular.

For example, you cannot return someone to state where they'd reasonably be persecuted or have human rights violations ("non-refoulement"). This is the ratcheting mechanism that lets migrants commit horrifying crimes in the UK, then never get deported because their home country would not coddle them as a result of being a rapist/murderer/nonce. It basically requires the origin country to be at the "human rights standard" of the UK which few to none are, since shithole countries aren't known for treating prisoners kindly. Removing this one provision alone opens up the gates.

Well, it's even worse because linked to this are Shameda, Phillipson, and of course, Starmer. LT funded Mahmood Phillipson's Deputy run. I listened to this investigator on my walk, and it was well researched as he carried out FOI requests.

This is not just a small amount of money; it is nearly £1 million in undeclared funds that appears to be linked to most of the cabinet. This is something practically out of South America; it somewhat makes the vote illegitimate though. I would not at all be surprised if Reeves and Cooper, even Lammy are linked in some way too.
