A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Interesting rumour that if Reeves is potted AND the Government falls before Wednesday 26th November, the IMF and Bank of England will have to do an 'Autumn Statement' between them instead.

It's likely that the IMF would bail us out or allow certain debts to be axed, if they cannot be paid, thus there's room for some alleviation and headroom for a potential March 2026 Budget (which Reform UK would want if elected in this year).

If Trump puts the wind up the IMF about a global cancellation of Covid debts, and if other countries state that they favour this, then I can see this helping us as well as others. After all, Brown cancelled Africa's debts when he was PM, therefore there is a precedent.

Non starter.
The IMF regard Reeves as a fucking Moron,

The IMF have been trying to guide Reeves in other directions for nearly a year now.

My gut feeling is that the IMF will allow the UK to financially collapse before stepping in.

You might not be wrong, but I hope it doesn't get that far.

If we do hit the deck, then we can't pay and there will have to be some form of alleviation.

If the Opposition Day motion to block the Budget passes, and the Budget does not pass or is allowed to proceed, then that VONC triggers a GE as the Government will have fallen and not be able to continue.

Let's see which parties would oppose the Budget being passed:

Tories: 119
Lib Dems: 72
Independents: 20
SNP: 9
Sinn Fein: 7 but would not vote
DUP: 5
Reform UK: 5
Greens: 4
PC: 4
SDLP: 2
Plus one each from Alliance, TUV and UUP (3 overall)

That's 243 overall

Labour are currently on 399, with an estimated 85 MP's who will vote against the Budget regardless of concessions - this includes MP's like Dawn Butler who are strongly rumored to be joining Corbyn's party.

243+85 = 328

That is a majority of two, even if the rest voted for the Budget to pass.

Note, SF numbers not included.

If the Budget does not pass, Starmer has to go to the Palace. It's better for him than to resign.

+2 ?

I'm looking from a different perspective.

My concern is the EU or as I call them the 4rth Reich stepping in.

The UK cannot be tied to the idiocy German energy policy.

Let's see which parties would oppose the Budget being passed:
Your assumption is that every single other politician would oppose the budget. Won't happen. There'll be a rat or two in those camps that decide they have a plausible enough excuse to support it.

Sorry if old news.

Overheard some normies in a shop talking about politics. Complaining about Kier Starmer and the general state of the country. Then I heard-
"-That's why we call him the chocolate soldier, because all his medals are honourary."

Reform are going to get the same treatment all the euro right wing parties get.
If Reform get one shy of a majority, but Labour + Lib Dems would achieve a majority if they coalition'd, they can't automatically just form the government on that alone. If Reform achieve the most overall seats in a hung parliament, they get to approach parties to negotiate a possible coalition with. A Labour + Lib Dem coalition thereafter would only be possible if nobody coalitions with Reform in the event they can't form a government, however the results would need to be a lot closer than they'll probably be were that to happen, since during the 2017 coalition (Tories [317] + DUP [10] = 326 majority), even if the Lib Dems [12], SNP [35] and Labour [262] formed a coalition in 2017 they'd still be shy of forming a government [309]. Even in 2010 the Tory/Lib-Deb coalition was the result of a wider gap than what was won in 2017 (Tories [306] Labour [258] Lib Dem [57]).

For the worst outcome, Reform would need to win fewer than 300 seats, Labour need to perform better than they did in 2010 at the bare minimum (Off the back of Gordon Brown) whilst also not being impacted by losing seats to Green, Reform, Jezza, and the Lib Dems in the process.

Fair play, +3 then.

Note to self: Do not mix up your Spreadsheet tab with your TOR tab and pay better attention!

As long as it's a majority, that's all that's important.

@Morethanabitfoolish That is a fair comment, but if the mood of the day is to oust Starmer then that's what they'll focus on - the Lib Dems will only do a deal to save Labour's bacon if Starmer is gone.

Labour rebels are no fan of Farage, but they despise Starmer possibly even more than him.

All Farage can do at present is make them look stupid and forge ahead in the polling, whereas Starmer can hurt them a lot more - and he's doing a grand job of doing that.

Opposing Farage is easy, but opposing Starmer would help Labour - alas, it's an unsolvable puzzle.

@>IMPLYING There's very little chance of Labour getting good numbers at the next GE - one recent poll even said that Labour might not win a seat in Wales. If that carries on nationally, they would be looking at 50 seats tops. The rest would be a toss-up between the Lib Dems and the Greens, maybe Your Party as well assuming that Reform UK don't make some shock gains.

An election before the end of the year is optimistic (I was rainbowing hard about this in January, but reality prevails), but I still expect Starmer himself to be gone before 2026. I suppose we'll see.

If we're doing "hotties of 90s reality TV", I always had a thing for Helen Geake and Carenza Lewis off Time Team. There's something about a very intelligent woman in short shorts.
Anneka Rice. She technically counts as a 90s girl, even though her prime appearance was in the 80s.

That sounds like a rare B-side from 'Hatfield and The North'.

'Big Jobs (Poo Poo Extract)', 'Going Up To People and Tinkling', 'Shaving Is Boring', 'Lobster In Cleavage Probe' and 'Gigantic Land Crabs In Earth Takeover Bid' are other strangely named songs of theirs, which read like an episode of 'The Day Today'.

More pathetic whining from The Senedd as Eluned Morgan demands Senedd Members stop giving the Welsh Government 'so much work to do.':

It looks like Trump's unloaded on Starmer at the UN... this is the beginning of the end.

Reeves' plans to tax Pensioners won't be passed by Parliament - there will be deadlock and the Budget won't pass as rebels will say 'No!'

Plus, Davey is beginning to panic big time over Farage stating that we'd become like the USA with him as PM.

Oh dear, oh my oh my, Edward...
That Davey thing was even more ridiculous with him saying Farage wants to bring school shootings to the UK. Look, I’ve been vocal about my dislike for Farage. But that really takes the piss. Who even falls for this.

Look a bit beat up TBH. But if you want to shag a granny with a big nose you're welcome to her.

I'd say my late 90s/early 2000s cheeky wank girl but she was pretty obscure and too obvious to link to me.

Susie Dent and Vordaman were quite tasty from Countdown. Lorraine Kelly's growler deserves a mention. Cat Deeley, Zoe Ball and the twins from fun house. All the women on gladiators..

Tories will jump into bed with Reform and try to poz them. There's no way they would turn down a Reform coalition.

Who even falls for this.
Nobody who hasn't fallen for it already, you get the same complete lack of introspection with the pot bellied whiners who like to cry about da looney left, as if it were some amorphous concept and not something very specific with names and addresses which is trying to fuck us.
The "people" who fall can be safely ignored because he's just plying to his base, it's a good sign really, means he has nothing worth actually saying.

A large chunk of the Conservative Party membership are "Never Trump!" tier angy about Farage/Reform in general, I could see certain factions going it for without too much grumbling, but it's not a sure thing and it wouldn't be clean; splitters galore.

I'd like to agree but Badenoch would never agree to share power with Farage.

She knows that he'd get the limelight and attention, she'd get nothing (a bit like Clegg being second fiddle to Cameron for five years).

90s Carol Vorderman was great, the modern version looks and sounds like a mentally retarded waxwork.

Knife wielding Muslim attempts murder, gets off with a slap on the wrist

A Muslim man who attacked someone burning a Quran outside the Turkish consulate in London has been spared jail.

Moussa Kadri, 59, saw Hamit Coskun setting alight the text and shouted: "I'm going to kill you" before slashing at him with a knife.

He later told police he was protecting his religion, Southwark Crown Court heard.

Judge Adam Hiddleston handed Kadri a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So if you attack someone with a knife, shouting your intent to kill them, how is this not attempted murder ?

But it's okay, he follows the government and court's favourite religion and therefore has the get out of jail ( almost ) free card.

Another example of our ( perhaps I should call it "their" as it doesn't stand for my values and hasn't done for a long time ) two tier justice system at work. Also, so far as I can see the BBC has tried to bury this story as best it can already. The BBC is truly the enemy of the real British people.

On the same day as the boat invader gets a year for his pedophile actions on our streets.

I am sick of this human rubbish that has polluted our country. The traitors that facilitated it and are encouraging it with sentencing like today, deserve to be treated as such.

We shouldn't be hanging flags from our lampposts........
