A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Telegraph is already reporting saying that the protestors "attacked the police." What a spin IMO
I mean, they did, but it was half-arsed. They were throwing bottles and cans at the police cordon where the counter protest was. There was no big surge and I didn't see anyone getting yanked out of the crowd either (which was a surprise). The police have been a lot more light-handed than I would have expected so far.

Probably due to the sheer number of protestors. As dumb as the UK police force is, even they are not retarded enough to piss off that many gammons all in one place.

They probably know this that A: This is an attempt to provoke them into another heavy handed approach to get lamped and B: yeah, they are massively outnumbered and with over 100k present that gets bad fast if a spark ignites.

Yeah, the police haven't waded in like they normally like doing, because as thick as they are, the cunts can probably still count.

Never underestimate how retarded the Met are when it comes to this kind of thing.

(They're sending the horses into the crowd as I'm typing this.)

Not a bad stream for catching what is happening away from the Tommy end.

'Nonce Amnesty' with Huw Edwards pictured - this is beautiful...

Some news c/o Hereford FC from their FA Trophy match against Sporting Khalsa of Willenhall :

G0vPL82WcAAEPFI.webp

Interesting as somebody I know was at the game, heard nothing and was amazed when the players and officials walked off the pitch.

People around her were puzzled as well - she was right behind the goalkeeper who 'got abused' and would have seen or heard something.

There was also, allegedly, a similar incident at Birmingham based side Tividale in their FA Vase match.

I swear that some of these matches are being stopped deliberately - maybe somebody's having a bet on them, or is just out to spoil people's fun.

we know they do it with hope not hate as well.
Also had it confirmed to me earlier that Nick Lowles has issued threats against Sarah Lang, a Reform UK councilor from Pontypool who was recently in the news for 'posing in provocative photos'.

These were:

1) Wishing death on her
2) Wishing migrants would rape her kids

Wales Online (specifically Will Hayward) won't run with the story because 'it's not a story of interest and she most likely made it up for attention'.

Yet it's enough for Gwent Police and the Metropolitan Police to investigate and take seriously.

I hope that if Mark Rowley has had enough of the woke bollocks that Lowles is taken in for questioning at the very least - if the ISP matches etc. then it is him or somebody at HNH who sent it.

If the Met has leaked info out, then they will be investigated by Police Standards.

this new Unnamed Your Party
Saw a photo of one of their campaigning stands with that "Your Party" on and laughed myself silly.
I don't need that man to turn around, talk or even type out his beliefs. I can tell just by the back of this mans head his entire belief system and world view.
Phrenology was discredited unjustly.
So what’s all this then
Nothing, unfortunately.
If Graham had that he should have shut up until the news stories came out since it's the only way they could get written.
