A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

How many civil servants exist any more? It's all contractors isn't it?

Moving them into private housing at the expense of locals is a recipe for a human barbecue. If people are angry over the hotels they will be twice as angry if eviction stories become common.

Things might already be out of Labour's hands, as they've pissed off everybody in record time - including their own.

The idiots known as 'Led By Donkeys' have gone and attacked their Labour masters and funders:

Even the #FBPE accounts are relatively quiet these days - I think they realise that they might be on the 'right side' of history but it's not a side people with brains care about.

If we have to go to the polls this year then it's no probs for me.

Love or loathe Nigel, two years of him as PM is preferable to the next three under Starmer.

It might, therefore, be a case that it's optimistic that we won't have a GE this year once we're past the point of no return for Labour.

The Unions have said that unless he pulls it off in Liverpool that they will defund the party and back Corbyn. That is the equivalent of party suicide and pompous Starmer is that much of a mong that he'll smugly 'shoo' them out of the room and then deny he did anything wrong.

Starmer was the 'better' choice between Long-Bailey and Nandy (though Burnham was arguably their only saviour) but it's a choice which has proven to be a disaster.

I think any talk of a GE should be slotted as "unlikely" unless there's a serious defection to Corbyn and Sultana, but I do agree that it's probable that the party bosses edge out Starmer short of an absolute Jesus-Christ-Comes-To-Downing-Street miracle for him and there's an internal vote of no confidence to replace him as Prime Minister.

In that case, it's either the Ginger Growler or Fleeting Streeting.

I think I'll fuck off to North Korea, whoever wins out of that.

Don’t you just love paying taxes so this fine gentleman can be kept fed and entertained? :)
Why don't we give him the luxury perks of broken legs?
Or maybe just some good ol fashioned beatings?
Or maybe, maybe we bring back the crank and tell him if he wants to get fed that day, he needs to crank it 5000 times?

Or maybe we just bring back capital punishment for this mushroom headed freak.

In some ways the hotel thing will just serve to inflame tensions even more. The Government is going to have to put those people somewhere, and it seems more likely than not that they're going to shift them into private housing at the expense of locals and natives. There will be more and more stories, like that one of that single mother being kicked out for Afghanis, of evictions to make room for our swarthy cousins. I don't think the people who wanted them out of hotels had even really considered this angle, but it seems like the most likely outcome to me.

Rock and hard place for Starmer's Government and the Establishment at large in any case. If Bomalians lounging in hotels at the taxpayer's expense was unpopular, I can't imagine kicking people to the street to make room for them in housing will be any more.
Moving in next door to you:
- Albanian human traffickers
- Nigerian rapists
- Vietnamese cannabis farms (there's like 10 of these fuckers on my map site already - easily the biggest nationality for drug production so far)
- Iranian gerontophiles

Can't stand the little shit, but I hate those defending and protecting him even more.

They are trying to keep him 'sweet' and I don't just believe it's because he's a 'violent offender'.

If he's violent and punches the door or walls then methadone will calm him - hell, sedate the cunt daily if that's what it takes; eight man unlock, slam him down, needle in, press down, job done.

Someday the truth about why he did it will leak out - don't forget that those 'nice people' in charge of him are criminally stupid (innuendo not intentional) and would leave documents on a train etc.

If Axel mouths off about why he did what he did, somebody will mention it one day.

Look we don't need to waste chemicals and manpower on him, if he's violent and punches the door, then my solution is to give him cell walls and doors like this.

It averages out at about £122 a day to house a prisoner in the UK.

It costs about £10 for enough decent manila rope to do the job properly. One time payment. Should be good for at least a couple of dozen uses before it shows any signs of wear.

-Chinese fake cigarette and handrolling tobacco producers and packers

And Albanians are taking control of the cannabis farms from the Vietnamese.

The perks of a multicultural society is that if things go unchecked, in 15 years time you'll have geopolitical turf wars. Albanian gangs bombing the houses of Serbian gangs, Pakistanis firebombing Indian takeaways and one specific brand of Muslims cutting the heads of another specific brand of Muslim.

We've had that for quite a while already. There has been sectarian muslim violence for the past decade or more, but it goes largely unreported, or the media neglect to mention the motivations behind what is happening. Thats before you get into the racial conflicts, like the never ending bust ups between Pakis and the Roma. If you go to Sheffield (Page Hall in particular) theres open hostility on a daily basis between the two communities.

How are the Civil Service allowed to advertise jobs stating the pay scales (from £xxxx to £xxxx) when there is no way of getting off of the lower pay scale?

A friend of a friend is a CS, and she said her take home pay is the same now as it was 10 years ago.
What’s her pension like?

@Made In Wales
He did it because he’s a low IQ savage who hates white people and knew little girls wouldn’t fight back and subdue him. Any other excuse is just window dressing.
That and his Dad, who was involved in the Rwanda Genocide, was too busy playing at being the karate kid to bother to parent his spawn.

That man (his Father) should never been here, and Starmer got involved to keep him here. If he had not then this would have never happened.

Uts disgraceful that we're allowing people guilty of war crimes here and giving them enough money to indulge in childish hobbies to boot.

You're both right, but I also think there's something else at play... something affecting Axel personally.

I think he's been abused (possibly physically and sexually) and the anger boiled over.

It's not an excuse, and I think Axel should not be allowed to live a second longer, but I am definitely interested in what did turn the 'Cardiff Choir Boy' and 'Doctor Who Fan' into a murdering bastard.

If Starmer is involved directly in any way, and it comes out before the Conference, Liverpool will have to be locked down as it will kick off big time. Southport's just up the coast on the A5038 and Merseyrail.
