A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

dited to say: if this makes you angry, and you don't know the difference between the types of law, FFS,learn about it. Everyone should know and understand the law, it's a basic responsibility of being an adult. I'm constantly appalled by the number of people who I encounter who take a sort of pride in their ignorance. It's pathetic.
Interesting point you bring up there but:

Break into my house and I don't really care if it's civil or criminal. Someone's getting splinters to the brain.

EDIT: Scotland happening

Turns out that the government hid a Category A nuclear "incident" from us. Where was the "incident"? None other than HMNB Clyde where we store our Trident submarines that are loaded with nukes

The government are not releasing any information about the "incident" besides its classification. If you're in the area, try drinking bottled water for a few years. Unless we're about to create some kind of mutant race of super-Scot that doesn't eat but lives off of heroin and cholesterol.

"But the government department has insisted the incident at HMNB Clyde did not pose a risk to the public"

How can this be a category A incident, the most serious level of incident, but it be risk free?

Can't wait to hear the details of this one. Or as much as we can get out of them. Someone using their car to move a bit of nuclear material around or something equally absurd, no doubt. Forgot it was in the boot and did a Tesco's run. I'd believe anything by this point (except a government guarantee).

No risk to the public. Could have been a leaky valve in an internal compartment giving some poor unfortunate matelot a couple of x-rays worth of healthy readybrek glow, equally could have been something far worse. We will likely never know.

The Met plod protecting their migrant friend in yesterday's video have had their shoulder patch numbers traced to either the Tower Hamlet Department or the Hackney one.

People are fucking pissed. It's only a matter of time before the 4 pigs protecting him have their names posted online.

The traitors can't hide any more.

Would be really funny if someone actually finds out where one of them lives (namely the smug old one) and just walks into their house. I'm sure at that point it is now a crime and someone will actually get arrested.

If their houses get fire bombed we know IBS did it. You will be in some deep shit now.

751k are rookie numbers. An identical petition in November last year got over 3 million and they issued the same bullshit response.

HA double entendre!

And no need to toss a few flamey whamey's through the blinds of a corrupt plod. Simply ID them and when the pendulum fully swings back they'll be ostracized or run outta town.

I expect it's Dyatlov's fault.

So the Reddit r/Unitedkingdom sub had a thread about the Canary Wharf Migrant earlier, which had around 100 comments.

It's been nuked. Not even locked, just removed entirely.

The sub has a corrupt mod named u/ukbot-Nicholabot, who's not really a bot, and used to go by the name NicholaBotgeon. Famous for defending rapefugees, and thinks grown men waving dildos in kid's faces at parades and having sexual conversations with them is ok. He removed it, claiming "Editorialized Title" despite allowing many others like it, as long as he agrees with it.

These subhumans would let their whole family be killed by illegals as long as they weren't accused of racism.
