A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Reading the article he appears to be porn sick rather than a traditional pedo. He was filming himself fucking women and making images of kids. Spoke to an undercover "14" year old cop and backed out then returned later to hook up. Reading it makes it sound like he started to chase porn taboos and ended up in the deep end of CP. The manual is described as a guide to grooming kids but no further details. It would be weird for someone to write a grooming guide and how would you obtain it? Was he part of some sort of online ring or what?

Trespassing is a civil matter though. It's not criminal. They're right. That's the Law.

The migrant was wrong and they should have arrested him for more than that,the pigs live to ladder offences for whites but niggers get free-reign. However if you as a white person trespass then the same thing should -in theory - happen to you.

You can't/ shouldn't be arrested for trespassing because it's a civil matter not criminal. That's absurd, I agree and the law needs changed but perhaps if more people understood law, then there would have been change already.

Everyone should know and understand the law, it's a basic responsibility of being an adult. I'm constantly appalled by the number of people who I encounter who take a sort of pride in their ignorance. It's pathetic.

Further edit to say: a crime is composed of two elements. The mens Rae, the guilty mind, that is the intention to commit a crime, and the actus reus, the criminal act.

In this case the Police have probably spoon fed him enough information to wriggle out of it. "Oh you were just in there then, you didn't *intend* to touch or steal anything nor did you intend to harm the people in the property" therefore it's trespass.

If it had been a statement on twitter and white people doing it they would have instead focussed on the feefees of Nbugu or Mohammed reading it. They should have,the pigs, I mean, focussed on the actions of the rapeape on the women in that home.

I hope that rozzers kids are culturally enriched when Nbugu breaks into his home and his wife gets the same.

This is one thing I've noticed with Working Class v Middle Class Students... the former are more rooted and will at least try to make where they are 'their own' and are usually conscious of what they spend.

The latter - hopeless, complete cry babies who have had everything handed to them on a plate and still can't do life without breaking down daily. They look down on the former, yet know deep down they are not as street smart or as academically smart as they are, therefore their whole existence is about their eternal victim-hood as 'nobody understands me' becomes their clarion call.

I don't think the law should apply equally to citizens and illegal immigrants. He clearly broke into someone's home with ill intent. He's not here legally and he shouldn't be protected under our laws. He should be deported immediately and if that's not possible put in prison.

The problem is the lack of common sense. You'd think someone who trespasses would either get a fine, jail or deportation if they are migrants but they get none of the three and they even get a ride back to their pigpen for free.

Ha ha ha. You think that the people who support this live in CW. Do you live right next door to your place of work ? At most they might have an apartment near by as a pied a terre. The locals here are not fund managers and investment bankers. Most of the other workers commute in and do a daily grind for a wage, much like the rest of the population. The locals are definitely not in favour of mass migration.

If you think them being in hotels somewhere vaguely near the offices where people commute will cause problems - extremely unlikely. For a start most commuters are at their desk by 8.30am - I very much doubt the boat crossing hoard are up and about by then - has the hotel finished serving their free breakfast ?

I suppose it might be possible for them to alter their body clocks for "bitch raping time" ( Predators, 2010 ) but I doubt it. Most commuters will be about at different times to them. As usual it will be the real locals that will enjoy the cultural enrichment.

751k are rookie numbers. An identical petition in November last year got over 3 million and they issued the same bullshit response.
