A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I used to like Indian and ME food, but after doing a lot more international cooking at home. It's just spice covering up bland flavours. Now Japanese and Chinese food is the shit, and even Mongolian food. Homemade Mongolian beef is the best, and if you cook it for your partner, you will get treated well in kind.

I have been doing a lot of Mexican cooking in the States too, and it's grown on me a lot, along with European food.

DOUBLE POST BUT MAJOR HAPPENING

archive

The Epping migrant hotel rapist, Mohammed Sharwarq from Syria, has been charged with SEVEN offences.

  • 2x common assault
  • 4x assault by beating
  • 1x sexual assault on a man
Going to refer to him as "The Syrian Shirtlifter" from now on.
Bit of a correction to this post. This isn't the migrant from Epping.

This is the SECOND individual migrant at the same hotel who was charged. This is the Syrian man, Mohammed Sharwarq. The first individual who kicked this all off was an Ethiopian man who sexually assaulted a schoolgirl.

They're both in my map now, forever. :)

When your history and culture is nothing but rubble and shit, food's gonna be the same

Indian and ME food has to rely on those overpowering spices to mask the flavors, because you have to remember where this food originates, and just what sort of ingredients would've been used in the authentic dishes. I'm sure it's much more difficult to detect the flavor of cow shit, piss, and rotton meat when you've packed it with enough spice to power a council estate for a month.
The Chinese and East Asians meanwhile were historically intelligent enough to understand that eating bad thing means bad thing happens to your body. (When an indian shits his pants after eating lactose, he will simply blame it on "bad constitution" and continue eating lactose and shitting himself)

Jenrick hasn't released his video yet but the shadow Home Secretary has.
Macron - and a lot of Europe actually - have had nothing but sour grapes over Brexit, and took it way too personally when the average person who voted did so on the idea it'd lower immigration. With friends like these...

When can we nuke France already?
They've been nothing but nightmare neighbors for their entire existence.
Fuck, changing history to let Hitler win WW2 would be worth it for the complete eradication of the identity of the French "people" alone.

Ah, so here it is. Jenrick as LOTO and Philp as Foreign Sec or Immigration.

Two people who've helped ruin this country who now see the writing on the wall and are scrambling to stay relevant.

Here's a bit of pleasant, wholesome news.

A family went swimming in Dorset and were joined by a dolphin who started to play with them and ask for belly rubs.

Proof that piracy is good for the entertainment industry giving a voice to customers.
Exactly that.

Plus not every game kicks off at 3pm - Villa v Palace will be kicking off on a Sunday night at 7pm!

Also, this might be of interest to @Crunkle and the other regular posters here:

The Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant, South Wales is only treating migrants for surgery and not any white people, locals or even emergencies (these are being sent to the Heath Hospital in Cardiff).

The Hospital in question has been given mobile operating theatres and migrants are being bussed in by a Cardiff-based bus company as a local company (Edwards) refused the contract.

Anybody needing elective surgery is being put on a mandatory two year waiting list, even if they've already waited for surgery.

Also: Lammy confirmed as retarded...

I was waiting and waiting for the police to demand he stop filming or try to obstruct the camera in some way.

Either the cochons want it to be filmed because they think its fucked up too (obviously they're being told to do this by a superior), or they simply don't care and the general consensus amongst french people is that this is just perfectly fine and not something to obscure or be ashamed of - possibly its funny to them even. I'd hope the former but I'm assuming it's the latter.

"If we put them on the bus they're someone else's problem". They have nothing to be ashamed of, they're cleaning up their country of scummy third worlders. If we could put all of ours on a boat to France I'd consider the people doing it heroes.

Isn't this France people trafficking? Highly illegal and a lawyer would have a field day.
France is the middleman effectively. The illegal gets there, gets a bus ride to Calais courtesy of the French, then gets put on a boat by an NGO and told to sail in a straight line until they reach our coast.

The ECHR prevents indefinite detention so they can't hold onto them forever and would undergo the same issues we're going through too; however, their problem is ultimately self-fixing. They drop them off in Calais, Dover in full view with all their needs taken care off by an NGO. Then you take your eyes off them for 10 minutes and suddenly it's bon voyage as they take off unmolested toward the UK - whether or not they provide the boat themselves I'm not sure.

The whole narrative posed by the government that organised criminal gangs (or Russia - lmao) are facilitating and aiding the crossings couldn't be further from the truth. It's an uncomfortable fact for our politicians to admit (especially those belonging to a party whose supporters would rather we re-join the EU) that the French government — and possibly the most stalwart supporters of the EU as an institution (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg and Germany) — want to, in effect, punish the UK for Brexit. They already screwed us initially with an unfavourable deal, made it prohibitively expensive to export into their markets, and still put on a front that they're ready to take us back no harm done, when they're doing all they feasibly can to act hostile to us whilst indirectly contributing to our people getting raped and killed by the migrants they gleefully escort to our borders.

The only benefit of doubt I can afford the French is that this is all a result of Macron's schizophrenic centrism alongside having his delusions of grandeur foisted by the UK leaving the EU. He essentially sees himself as its de-facto leader of it since Merkel left the scene, and his dream of leading a federalised Europe loses much of is lustre when a majority of its states take more than they give, and the idea of a EU army drifts further and further from reality as the years go on by. He wants a legacy of sorts but I think he'll only me remembered for being batshit and the victim of being groomed by his teacher. I hope to God Le Pen isn't the same otherwise that country is utterly irredeemable in my eyes.

I think this re-emphasises the point that significantly reducing the desirability of asylum seeking (read: economic gibs migration) to the UK would solve the issue far faster and without needing to repeal/amend the laundry list of Acts dating back decades.

If they don't have any incentive to actually get on that bus, they'll all just stick around in France. They can't be palmed off on us along a daisy chain of several European countries if they don't actually want to come here.

Until then, they can all get fucked, as I will not intervene when I see people simply walking out with arms full of stolen merchandise
I’ll be at the pub down the road where they sell it.
I’m not doing a 2 tiers job for the current university batch that have been indoctrinated to hate me based on race.

Government's response to the GE petition:

'This Government was elected on a mandate of change at the July 2024 general election. Our full focus is on fixing the foundations, rebuilding Britain, and restoring public confidence in government.

The Prime Minister can call a general election at a time of their choosing by requesting a dissolution of Parliament from the Sovereign within the five-year life of a Parliament. The Government was elected by the British people on a mandate of change at the July 2024 general election.

This Government is fixing the foundations and delivering change with investment and reform to deliver growth, with more jobs, more money in people’s pockets, to rebuild Britain and get the NHS back on its feet. This will be built on the strong foundations of a stable economy, national security and secure borders as we put politics back in the service of working people.

On entering office, a £22 billion black hole was identified in the nation’s finances. We inherited unprecedented challenges, with crumbling public services and crippled public finances, but will deliver a decade of national renewal through our five missions: economic growth, fixing the NHS, safer streets, making Britain a clean energy super-power and opportunity for all. This is what was promised and is what we are delivering.

The Government’s first Budget freed up tens of billions of pounds to invest in Britain’s future while locking in stability, preventing devastating austerity in our public services and protecting working people’s payslips.

Mission-led government rejects the sticking-plaster solutions of the past and unites public and private sectors, national, devolved and local government, business and unions, and the whole of civil society in a shared purpose. The Government will continue to deliver the manifesto of change that it was elected on.

Cabinet Office'

I swear that whoever wrote that is higher than Keith Richards.
