A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

My point was merely to let people know that back dated benefits such as PIP or SDP no matter how much they are, are excluded from this. There isn't even a temporary disregard. They are permanently disregarded. You can then have 16K plus in your bank account next year and it won't make any difference. The trouble starts if you have to make another claim for UC because they then reset the clock and you could be totally fucked, so yeah, best get that cash out and put it under the mattress or spend it on shit you really need.

Good for you. There is reason to be worried. But there are several reasons why they may not be punished for this extra capital. You'll need to read the documents I will lay out for you later on at the end of this post.

I'm just saying if they got that 16K amount by way of a back dated PIP or ESA / SDP payment then there is a permanent disregard on that and it can not be taken away from them and it can not be held against them in claiming UC going forward.

Sorry for any redundancy there, but I think you'll find some real Gold in there and all you really need to know about this subject.

It's not about getting people with extra savings getting off with having those savings, it's about those people in certain circumstances not having to pay back that money or having it affecting their claims going forward.

You can also look to accumulating wealth by buying things that retain value. The obvious is gold, but their are lots of things that can be used to "store" money in them so to speak. Just always keep it to yourself, as you do not want people knowing you have lots of valuables in your house, considering the current climate in this nation.

You seem to know more about this than I do. I wouldn't trust Starmer and his mates not to walk this back and the papers to start smearing benefits scroungers with savings in the bank. They can make them look like they've got loads of savings and still on bennies.

Glad you told me. I wouldn't have imagined any normal prank channel to fake something like this because the climb up the side of the building with no safety gear is actually dangerous. I know people do it but no way any normal company would sign off on it.

The later is already happening and one of the reasons they're being imported.

A thread on the BBC giving a positive spin on the Trump & Starmer meeting. The BBC failed to report on Trump's many criticisms of Starmer's government. Particularly the "con job" of wind turbines and Starmer's attacks on free speech.


Thing is, I like the idea of a BBC. It's a flat rate tax (very right wing) on using a big telly, all in order to fund quality programming for everyone (a lefty goal).

And this used to work. In some ways it still does: CBeebies has no advertisements for plastic tat, and kids love Bluey; BBC2 has quiz shows for the non-retarded; BBC News is almost okay in terms of truthfulness.

But BBC News does lie by omission. They're buggers for it. And they will include hundreds of (truthful & well researched) articles about fucking pride parades. Who gives a shit about pride parades? Follow @Ripx4nutmeg on Twatter and you'll see how much devotion the BBC has to fucking drag queens. Gaylords might find drag queens funny, while normal people see drag as a naff form of woman-face. As a mild chauvinist in a happy marriage, I find drag a little too offensive and way too shit. I don't hate women nearly enough to enjoy drag shows. Drag is sour grapes for poofters. It shouldn't be mainstream. Certainly not BBC.

A flat rate of £15 per month is a bargain IF you're getting quality telly and reporting without an agenda.
£15 is a waste of money for news that exists to suck Starmer's dick and children's shows about lesbian Irish insects. Lou And The Bally Bunch can fuck right off.

We have Disney+ for the kids but it's much worse slop than CBeebies. The splash screens on a children's profile had killer apes, Wu-Tang Clan and a naked couple in bed. Scared the crap out of them. YouTube is even worse.

So I do like a BBC in theory, just not the BBC we've got.
