A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

This isn't an argument that works well, especially when it looks so realistic that it might as well be a photograph. It's also missing the point: this entire drama has been developed to justify banning X in the UK. The claim (not really proven) that grok generates CSAM is a useful idiot argument, designed to bypass rational thought by triggering moral outrage. It's no different than indians trying to win arguments by calling westerners paedophiles without evidence.

Maybe grok does do this, and maybe elon is being retarded about it by not acting fast enough to fix it, but that isn't the real point of the claim. If it wasn't this, it would be something else. They wanted to ban X previously because it let people view "violent imagery" and before that because it allowed "terrorists" to talk to people, and before that because it allowed "racists" and "anti-semites" to express their opinions about things. The goal is banning access to forms of communication outside of their control. The actual content under contention is irrelevant and only chosen to prevent critical thought. Letting yourself be drawn into arguments about whether or not something is "real" or "not real" CP is a distraction that risks getting you cast as "that guy who supports CP", regardless of your stance on the matter. Don't accept the premise of arseholes.
 
I feel like I'm taking retard stupid pills here for saying this but just investigate crime as it happens and is reported; and pedos get the rope. Not 'person who did X, Y, Z' but pedos. This entire AI thing is just an excuse for labour to ban things they don't want people viewing and it has nothing to do with CP or anything else. It's not hard to find loads of real pictures of kids in unsuitable swimming costumes or nude on facebook or instagram already if you wanted to. Parents insist on posting photos they shouldn't be posting. Grok putting bikinis on kids is a design flaw and shouldn't happen, but Twitter is not the bigger issue here. Older people shouldn't really care if someone photoshops them nude. It's not going to ruin your life or be a big deal, laugh it off and accept in 2026 everyone has a deep fake if they know it or not. The technology isn't going any where and you can't control how people use it.

Grok isn't even relevant if you're concerned about Ai generated porn. There are threads on 4chan full of AI images generated on home computers with guides on how to set up the software. Grok is easy to do it with, but the people dedicated to the craft have their own set ups and have their own trained models. With the facebook and instagram library full of softcore images of all kinds they won't struggle to find enough images to create a model. Family holidays + instagram advertisement for only fans is all they need. Grok or no Grok virtual porn is here to stay.

AI generated images and anime are are not CP. They should be specifically labeled as something else because it lowers the bar of what CP is. There is a difference between photo realistic AI, anime bug people and actual victims of child exploitation. Muddying the water with lolicon = CP doesn't help the discussion. It's the same brain drain as calling everyone right of center a nazi. Definitions matter. The weird autist masturbating to anime is different to the punjabi rape gangs and calling them all pedos makes it harder to solve the real pedo problem. Keep definitions clean, it gives the pedos less room to work with to wrigggle out of accusations.

Musk making grok only do nudes to paying customers is a good way to catch people doing this stuff to children's photos. If you tie a credit card to your account you can be tracked. Grok shouldn't do it, but I can understand Musk setting it to pay wall for a week or two and then announcing they're going to remove it all together. Honey pot the people requesting children in bikinis and use it as a reason for a warrant. You will catch a lot of pedos with zero police man power needed in investigating them. Which can create a cascade and seriously impact the number of pedos not behind bars.

Banning Twitter would do a lot of good for our society. No twitter would improve so many things. Labour trying to get rid of it makes people angry at them, which is a good target to be angry at and gives them even more enemies. I don't like why Labour want rid of it (they won't though) but we would live in a better country if we removed social media brain rot.

Absolutely. Despite Starmers most fervent wishes we can't see what people think. And that's okay. People can think what they want. But anyone who admits to finding kids arousing or who uses any form of media to indulge these sick fantasies, should not exist.

It shows real depravity of spirit to feel like admitting to it, and anyone who does this shouldn't be allowed to draw breath.
