A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Nope, they are still crying out "I'm not racist."
It’s the verbal equivalent of lambs blood on the lintel. You have to say it or your opinion is used to destroy you.
Give it time. Even a year ago people wouldn’t have even said this. It’s brewing

Lots of marches today, I'm noticing.
Wonder how many of these counterprotesters are doing it for free and how many are paid protesters.

About 33 taking place today across England, I believe.

Antifa types have showed up to a few of them, especially one in Bristol where they started getting quite disruptive when the police tried to move them on.

This country is one death at a protest or a single Stabbing Of Peace away from a full-blown meltdown. Going out to get my prepper stuff later, bottled water and tins.

Consider the following, being filmed saying "I am racist" or "I am far right." will get you vanned by a corrupt population hating police force in Britannistan right now for a hate crime. The actual spirit is there though, it's just hard to say these things in a country where there is no such thing as free speech.
You wouldn't walk up to a bunch of niggers in detroit and shout "NIGGERS ALL DIE" would you?
A coward's excuse. Angloids will keep playing nigger games, and will continue to be surprised when they win nigger prizes.

I wonder if they can arrest 100,000 or even just 10,000 Angloids after they chant TND? Angloids are just lazy cowards.
The reason why the illegitimate government of the YOOOKAY punishes 'racism' so harshly, is because they know it is effective.
Moslims and jeets have been racist against Whites for decades, and what did they earn? Well they are the Mayor of London, the Prime Minister of Scotland, and they can rape any English or Scottish girl they want with only a slap on the wrist.
Racism works, that is why they fear Whites recapturing it.

For years people played the tranny game because they'd get fired or cancelled otherwise but everyone was smart enough to tell what the collective is thinking. Would it be good if all Bongs held hands and chanted TND all day long? Probably but it's not going to happen anytime soon.

I would be very, VERY skeptical of Farage actually doing anything like it. Don't trust him, this is the man who has time and time again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and who is way more concerned with being seen as "acceptable" than anything.

I’m not the biggest believer of Farage, nonetheless it is significant that we’ve come to this point. Only a mere three years ago calling for mass deportations or in their words ‘the relocation of a significant proportion of the population (e.g. a race or religion) from a country or geographic area.’ would have landed you on a watch list as a substantial threat.

It is. Shit's moving fast. Sporadic violence all over the country and mass marches of the sort that haven't been seen since the 80s.

Adorable retard (fed) comes to thread to try to doompost that despite the English rising up gradually they are all cowards for not jumping the gun and getting their lives destroyed through rapid conviction.
This is the government that will imprison you over a tweet.
The appetite for martyrdom outside of a couple Big Bazzes is not yet reached.

Reform's official policy is now mass deportations. Their new policy is:
  • Leave the ECHR
  • Arrest all small boat arrivals
  • Detain them on military bases
  • Mass deportations
  • 5 flights a day
  • Return deals with Afghanistan & Eritrea
  • Offshore processing on Ascension Island

2029 cannot come soon enough.

:semperfidelis:
Does anyone in the UK genuinely believe they can vote for something still, and have it actually carried out? The last severals times the UK has voted on something, the leaders seem to turn around and piss in the people's face and just do nothing that was promised.

whoa whoa whoa Nigel! That's some very alt right rhetoric you're coming out with there. You don't want to upset your buddies at the Parliament wine bar now do you?

Remember when Reform kicked out several members for making tamer comments then that? I don't buy it and I don't see them ever following through on this.

I think the fact that they can say this is an improvement, it also echoes what people are thinking and if it's offered as an actual solution then they have to admit there is a problem in need of fixing.

It would be dumb to wait that long or to trust the government to actually follow through. The time is now, not in 2029.

nonetheless it is significant that we’ve come to this point.
That's the way I'm seeing it too. Will we get mass deportations? Probably not.

But the most popular political party in the country at the moment now has a main policy of mass deportations. It's now an acceptable position to take. That's absolutely unheard of and a complete rejection of the past 40 years of Tory and Labour policy.

The idea of voting at this point is mostly just to derail the 2 party system we've had for decades. If Reform wins the next election then it destroys the whole system and the Tories and Labour cease existing. Once we see that Reform is just as milquetoast and limb wristed as the prior two parties then people will really kick off when they have no other option.

It's accelerationist to say something like this but it's true. Reform aren't going to live up to their name and once people get to see it truly first hand, then we can start fixing all of this.

True. It wasn't that long ago that immigration was a dirty word in politics.

That being said, there is an element of containment going on here on all sides. Labour will be forced to address immigration in some fashion if they don't want to crater completely, and the opposition will be fighting over the scraps as usual. I think you'll see an escalation in promises from the opposition as this develops. They can get away with that as they don't have the burden of power, Labour does.

I think what you're seeing on the streets now has transcended any political affiliations though. I know dyed in the wool Labour voters who are using the same kind of rhetoric you'd see on here. Whats happening is pretty fucking wild.

No. course not. There is a slow simmer however, and it may get to the point where action is forced, one way or another.
The British do not chimp out randomly and people expecting some kind of army of darkness to rise up and clear out overnight are unfamiliar with the British psyche.
This cannot be fixed with the techniques the state has been using.
