A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Still a fair bit away from housing them in these cool little things called "labor camps" which also come with the added benefit of allowing cheaply produced domestic goods that don't rely on a nation ideologically opposed to our own, but a good start, I think.
Stuff like this is why I feel the young population of this country longs for a dictator (in the Roman sense) not bound to the whims of the courts, somebody that can and will say "From now on, illegal immigration into the UK will be punished with 10 years of labor in a work camp before deportation, those found employing them will receive 1 year in said camp for every one they employ" would immediately find themselves without an illegal migration crisis.
And as a bonus, Marks and Spencers will be able to sell cheaper socks.
 
I don't see the problem, Mrs. Balls. If they must be housed in hotels then simply put them in hotels in LGAs that are run by people who will not take you to court over it. Dump them all in London, Bristol, Brighton and every other city that votes for it. They say that "refugees" are welcome? Here you fucking go then. Welcome them.

Honestly not a bad idea to retrofit all the decaying old pontins like that.
It only makes the punishment that much more severe.

Hell even if you weren't forcing them into labor camps, building a large wall around a Pontins and just having them be housed out in the middle of fucknowhere without any transport or any allowance to leave would be pretty ideal as a temporary solution before they all get sent the fuck home.
Also I personally find the idea of a Pontins prison camp to be hysterical.

I largely agree, unfortunately some of them are still located closely enough to nearby areas that unless it was run like an actual prison camp the locals would be at risk. Pretty certain the Heysham and Southport sites are only a short walk to a target rich environment for many of those currently being allowed in.

Mmm, I still think it would be far cheaper to build a large wall around it and pay for the guards and maybe even have food airdropped in in the form of basic survival MREs, paying a 5 man squad of 24/7 armed guards has to be far cheaper than however much the government is wasting on the hotels.

Which I expected Wethersfield Airbase in Essex would be. It is miles from the nearest towns, and Wethersfield village is a fair walk away (down a country lane with National Speed Limit, very narrow pavements, and no street lights).
But never fear, its reported that there are several minibuses a day laid on to take them to and from Braintree, so that they don't have to stay at the camp in isolation (as they should be). Other day out excursions include Colchester. In both towns they just hang around the town centres in groups doing fuck all, except annoy the fuck out of locals.

That's the worst part, they just loiter around! It's not like they're doing anything there that they couldn't anywhere else! I know it's probably so they can identify weak targets to rob/attack/rape, but there's genuinely no justification for just not keeping them isolated in what SHOULD be a punishment for not just breaking the law, but breaking the law with what should be absolutely no civil protections due to a lack of citizenship. These people shouldn't just be treated like second or third class citizens, they should be treated like non-citizens, something akin to untouchables, with all the rights granted to animals. All these criminals should be afforded is a ration pack of pre-cooked boiled rice and a large bottle of water until they ask to be returned to their home country.
Fuck the ICJ, who'd no doubt piss and cry about this, but those toothless faggots can't do anything anyway.

I'm truly coming to the belief that the only possibility for a solution we have being implemented is finding a modern day Cincinnatus.

Dame Rachel de Souza told BBC Newsnight it was "absolutely a loophole that needs closing" and called for age verification on VPNs.

They loiter around because their 'home' is a crammed room that barely fits a single bed. They shouldn't be here to begin with, but they literally cannot stay at home because there's no home. It's a place to sleep and that's literally it.

I knew shit was going down when the family friend who I talked about mentioned that there were builders adding walls to the tiny three bedroom house next door, cowboy builders are turning tiny three bedroom terraced houses into 7 bedroom hovels so they can house more Kenyans, Libyans and Pakis.

Eventually an accident is going to happen where 20+ Afghanis burn to death in a two bedroom terraced house and people start pointing fingers.

How about at the councils that just let any house register as an HMO, with no checks, or just a cursory check so they can pick up their brown envelope from the HMO developers?

And why is it that most of these HMO's seem to be owned by pajeets?
