Laura Hudson doesn't really get this book. I'm not saying that in the hipster douchenozzle way, either. She legit does not understand this book or its appeal, going on for about five pages about how it's a reference to the mindset that nothing's more important than nostalgia when the book is a fucking shameless joking stab at 80s schlock and cheese. While saying it's going to be a bestseller somehow for.... Reasons. Never explains why, either. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, goddamnit.

Giant Spacekittens was founded in the fall of 2014. After the successful launch of Giant Spacekat's first game Revolution 60, we turned our eyes to the ideas and dreams of other staff members.
Having a daughter at home now old enough and able to open her iPad and launch apps on her own, Amanda pitched a toddler game. Thinking that, rather than fight the inevitable, she'd find games for her. While she found a few gems, there were design elements in most toddler-aged games which she felt she could improve upon.
While that was the initial motivation behind Giant Spacekittens, the further we explored the world of marketing to kids, the more aggravated we became at how gendered we found it to be. We saw a need, echoed by a growing chorus of parents, of giving kids freedom of playspace and not forcing them into society's boxes.

In keeping with Giant Spacekat's ideals of 'Stories for Everyone,' we wanted to make fun games with positive underlying messages. Our first game, Cupcake Crisis is built around a girl named Mia who loves to build things. We wanted to show that girls can enjoy, thrive, and love engineering and science, which unfortunately can be all too easily discouraged in day to day life.
Our mission, as our games library grows, is to entertain, teach and encourage little ones to explore their world and feel that it's limitless, because that's how it should be.
Her word choice leads me to believe that it's not another game. Brianna got what she wanted out of the industry and now she's looking to jump ship. I expect some sort of social media bullshit project like what Zoe Quinn and others have done because Wu doesn't have an original bone in her body.Yes I'm sure GamerGate will freak out that someone who calls himself a game developer is developing a game

It's about a little girl who is an inventor. Should I be worried that - much like R60 is sexist and offensive in many ways - it will frighten girls away from STEM fields instead of sparking their interest in them?
And am I being overly conservative in thinking that little children shouldn't be playing vidya at all and should rather be outside or reading books or playing with touchable, material toys?

So successful that she was pretty much forced to try to get it on a platform didn't want it on and then had to redesign the game to address the criticisms she faced when trying to get it on said platform. Then again, the fact that R60 was even finished at all might have been enough of a success for Wu considering her past history with projects.If that was a successful launch I'd hate to see an absolute gargantuan failure of a product they literally can't even give away for free.
