If Barb isn't completely demented then it does bring up the point that with incest charges apparently the parent is usually the one prosecuted.

Since Chris is still in jail and Barb is free I'd speculate that Barb has indeed thrown Chris under the bus to save her own ass. Won't really know till Chris' next court date when all of the charges are revealed. Still hoping for an internet trial of the century but more likely Chris' lawyer will just get him a plea deal.
Lmao. Based Barb playing kick the Autistic one last time.

I wonder if children wil now replace the image of an old, white kidnapper van with an early 2000s blue Chrysler minivan.

I'm astounded that Barb is back at the house. I hope this means she is at least coherent enough to testify in court on what Chris allegedly did to her. Godbear only knows how traumatic she got it from him.

Jesus eff the utter lack of understanding about the subject of elder care, dementia, the justice system, etc. is astounding.

I am not sure where some of you come up with these uninformed ideas.

Dementia
Dementia is not just one thing and does not present in a consistent manner.
Medications for dementia exist as a way to manage symptoms but do nothing to stop the progression. For the most part there is no medication for dementia, just supportive care. basically support the body as best as possible to help slow the failure of the brain.
Sundowning is crazy common as are major differences from day to day.
Its a slow horrible process that you may not be comfortable with and thats OK. But stop spewing crazy theories and read something or talk to someone who has experience. None of us get out alive.

Is Barb getting care and is she living at home?
Just because she is the victim of a crime does not mean she gets any special access to care.
There may have been a medical exam that included basic testing for mental incapacitation. The results of that test do not mean that she gets any special attention. She has no advocate unless a family member or church has stepped in. The state considers her regular person and will provide no special care to her unless someone asks for it and since she has assets the state may not provide any care. This shit happens all the time. Barb could die in the house and not be found for weeks. Nobody would know.

She is most likely living on her own at home. I doubt she would accept care and it can't be forced on her by the hospital. She has the right to refuse care unless someone steps in proves her to be incapable of caring for herself. Its a process and i doubt Barb has a living will or that anyone else has power of attorney in this situation.

The tugboat will not continue. She will default on the mortgage, the foreclosure process takes months.

Will Barb survive
Without the added stress of chris in her life i would guess that she somehow comes out of this OK. She is a frail old lady and someone will probably come along and help her get the care she needs. That being said, she could be found dead in her trash pile which is probably how she wants to go. No Robbert, No Chris, no family, just her rotting body in a pile of refuse.

Yup. Or her cognition was negatively impacted by any given medication (sleeping pills are very common in the elderly population despite the fact that they can make someone with dementia even less lucid). Not to mention possibilities such as trauma from abuse or UTIs making her condition worse.

If Chris admitted the police about having sex with her in a "confused" state, or even doing so after she'd taken any sleeping medication, he's so unfathomably screwed.

this is an interesting take. seeing how Barb spent all of the inheritance from Bob on a good lawyer so Chris (but moreso SHE) wouldn't go to jail for the hit and run Snyder endured. if we know Barb, as selfish as she is, I doubt she'll testify against Chris due to her sheer laziness. if she's not drinking Ensure and staring at the ceiling she isn't interested - but if the theory that Chris wasn't administering her medication right is true then maybe she's gained back some lucidity?
the decline of the brain can occur at a different pace depending on the person and their mental/physical health and surroundings. if Barb declined being put in a seniors care facility, wouldn't Greene County try to have her live with another family member due to the sheer filth of 14BC? I'm not sure how it is in the US, but home care can be just as expensive as being in a facility - the state isn't gonna put up with that for long since there's no way Barb can pay for it.
I'll say it again, I don't really believe Barb is at 14BC. it doesn't seem really responsible to put someone who's been going through elder abuse back into the place where the events were happening - sleeping in the same bed that's probably still filthy with remnants of Chris' comeuppance. that just seems way too fucked up to me.

There's also a much simpler possibility: everything happened exactly as Chris said it did. Chris basically admitted that he had to push her to do it and that she was in pain during it. She's a frail old woman and probably went along with it out of fear. When she finally stopped complaining, Chris took that as consent.

One sign that this is the case is that Barb is uncharged. If it were consensual between the two, they'd both be charged.

I honestly couldn't really stomach/get to/find stuff about barbara. What exactly has she done. I mean it can't be so bad that people are saying that she deserved what Chris did to her
No one deserves what Chris did to her.
Just read the wiki, dude.

Barb hasn't necessarily done anything horrific or heinous in her life. throughout her life she just showed to be a really untrustworthy person who uses people to her advantage. according to her other son Cole Smithy she also emotionally abused him growing up. she's extremely manipulative and enabled Chris to become who he is today by sheltering him to an extreme degree, I can't remember if he was going to a convention or trying to visit a potential "sweetheart", but she threatened to commit suicide if he left the house for three days. I doubt this wasn't the first or last time she had done so.

With respect to @Phillip_Jeffries, the Barb details still seem weird and it's a bit hard to believe that, after all these years, she suddenly has all this energy and independence to simply go back home and drive, when she was depending on Chris for so long. Long time where she couldn't drive and Chris had to fed her (eggs w/navy) and give her medication.

Of course this sudden different Barb might have to do with her meds being finally properly taken, like others said, which is still to be proven but remains a possibility. Wouldn't put it past Chris to do it incorrectly, be it because of his usual incompetence or just because he didn't care to do it well, considering helping her actually does bother Chris and he resents this responsability.

I guess until more proof appears (please do not go, etc.) than just a photo of the van and the outside of her house to go with a story, this will do.

I told you niggas. Chris is probably going to skate on this and go back giving Barb tossed salad and scrambled eggs. People with dementia can still drive, it just depends on what stage they're in. She may have sundowning, which means her symptoms are worse at night than during the day.

BTW, I don't believe she drove the car, she probably had it towed from somewhere.

Mariposa you can't keep getting these wins. The picture you've painted of Chandler these many years are increasingly becoming true and I don't want to end up seeing the day where Chris does worse stuff like harming a child.

Threatening suicide in order to emotionally blackmail Chris into doing what she wanted was a really horrific and heinous thing to do, and that’s just the one specific instance of it that’s known in Christory. The way Chris wasn’t even shocked at it implies to me that it wasn’t the first time she pulled something like it. Tip of the iceberg, so to speak.

He just stress-sighed and begrudgingly accepted that she’s outplayed him. (:_(

edit: Plus, consider the early correspondence between Chris and Cole where the latter tried to warn his halfwitted half brother of her manipulative ways because she had done similar things to him years prior. All-in-all it doesn’t paint a pretty picture of Barb.

What family member? Who the fuck would voluntarily put up with this cunt in their home? Why do people think the government can do all these fucking things it can't? No, the government can't force some shitty, horrible family member into your home with you against your will.

I would think that the neighbors are now probably more willing or inclined to check in on Barb/assist her now that Chris is out of the picture.

Someone needs to mow the lawn. Looking snakey.

I wouldn't bet on it.
All the shit that's gone down between Chris, Barb, the trolls, the law, etc. the neighbour's probably aren't too keen on the Chandlers. I'd say they're probably more likely just to ignore it.
