Ashlich is still alive and she has a Tiktok! Her username is @emptyattic182. She made the announcement in her Instagram stories, and let everyone know that she wanted to die, but she has a cat to feed.

Here’s a still shot of her arm from the video. Eugenia’s arm looks skinnier, sorry Ash. I wonder if it’s more important to her to be the skinniest skellie, or to outlast all the others?

Do we know why she references Atticus Finch? "Emptyattic182" appears to be another reference. I know her real last name is Finch. Is she kin with a character from a 1960s novel or what?

I‘d be surprised if she has ever read To Kill A Mockingbird.

Ashley was edgy wannabe emo kid even back in the early/mid-2000s and Atticus Clothing Co. was an edgy clothing company (the logo was a dead crow flipped on its back) made by Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge (from Blink-182, one of her favourite bands) in the early 2000s and the company name was partially picked for the To Kill a Mockingbird character.

She probably adopted Atticus Finch because it’s an immediately recognisable reference, while also being close to her real name without actually being her real name (A. Finch), and a nod to Atticus Clothing Co.

Attic is a nickname, turn it into an Empty Attic to add emo points, 182 because emptyattic was probably taken.

Carole King has never been an unhealthy weight. You’re thinking of Karen Carpenter, aren’t you?

Anorexia existed before Karen Carpenter lol.

Yeah, anorexia is extremely common as well as not a new illness; people have been starving themselves since the Middle Ages. Sometimes for Jesus.

Most anas aren’t like Eugenia or Ashley and will lose drastic amounts of weight but go to great lengths to cover their bodies (though admittedly this is mainly because they still view themselves as fat).

Anorexia has a higher prevalency amongst teenagers and young adults, and you won’t see most out and about because they’re either already institutionalised, wasting away in their rooms because starving yourself saps you of energy, or they’re avoiding social situations because a surprising amount revolves around food.

Ashley just appears to be an outlier because of her visibility (long online internet presence & long history of public drama with other online internet presences due to her volatile and attention-seeking personality), and because she has Lich Queen powers. (Don’t be fooled, it is because she subsists off a diet of the surprisingly nutritious life forces of all other anas in the world, which is why the fatality rates of people with anorexia is so high and sudden.)

For reals gastroparesis? The munchie thread must be salivating in envy. (maybe not so much at the fecoliths)

The 'D' word reminds me of this segment from 'HMS Pinafore', where the 'big big D' in question that the captain will not use under any circumstances is 'damn'. Here, there's another D we say never. (What never? No never. What never? Well, hardly ever....)
not for reals, im hard guessing,
given the fact that she used to puke, and that can be hard on the bowels

Anyone who starves themselves for a while will end up with delayed gastric emptying and sluggish digestion, but since it's generally accepted that it will right itself after proper refeeding, there is no need to bother with a separate diagnosis or treatment. I don't know if there are many cases of digestion being chronically impaired years after recovery, and even then you need to keep in mind how absolutely common it is for people to "recover" from anorexia by mostly replacing it with Munchausens.

As for how common anorexia actually is, it's something like 0.3% percent of people will meet the criteria at some time in their lives. It's not something everyone can develop, I'm pretty sure it takes both genetic susceptibility and fucked up family dynamics to become truly severe. In most cases, it can go under the radar if they hide it because most don't get to such a low weight that they are actually alarming to look at. In a lot of cases they just get stuck in a bad pattern of dieting and recover after a short stint in treatment or spontaneously when they grow up, become independent, get a job and a relationship or other things that become more important to them than being neurotic about their food intake.

That's not to say diet culture doesn't have a role, but I think it's in a different way than what most people assume. There is something to be said for the overwhelming number of fat fucking people and all kinds of really unhealthy hyperpalatable food everywhere contributing to the number of eating disorder cases in general. Being fat is so common that losing weight is just assumed to be a worthy goal by default for most people and elicits praise if they aren't dangerously underweight yet. If they are targets of jealousy they want to starve themselves further to spite the people being dicks. It also makes it easier to consider oneself virtuous for abstaining, makes starving yourself feel like some kind of rebellion against society, and since a lot of fat people are actually highly self conscious, food/diet has become deeply tied to self esteem for many and a much more emotionally loaded issue for many people than it would be if gross overconsumption wasn't basically the norm. In other words, I don't think diet culture is the problem, but fatass culture.

(in the absence of an anorexia sperging general thread I'm just discussing it here. I figure Ashley is one-note enough for it not to matter.)

I'm sure Ashley would be honored to share a subforum with serious anorexics like Tess Holliday.

I do find the robustness of the human body absolutely astounding. It is really fun to think of all the ways the body has to be desperately recycling limited resources and breaking down anything and everything to keep it going.

Like, I want to know how bad her vision is from a sustained lack of Vit A.

In terms of actual clinical science though, it's not that interesting. We have enough cases to know what prolonged starvation does on a macro level. I wanna know what it does on a biochemical level.

"Drink olive oil" this and "hospice care" that, I know what Ashley really needs-

she is the lord of hollows after all,
i bet yuria has given her a call already
Listen all I'm saying is, Kaathe did nothing wrong.
If marrying Ash means a sword through the dome, then that's pretty fucking metal. Some lucky Anri will get to help her usher in the age of dark and while I am pro-abyss, those damn pilgrim butterflies get into EVERYTHING. Ash living here in Vegas was a smart move on her part, good luck pulling a New Londo on us in the fucking desert!

I love how I'm getting to this thread 6 years late and there's posts at the start amazed she was alive at that point. My DnD game has been needing an undead faction, I now know its leader's name.
