Random shit I remember from when I followed him on Twitter years ago:
  • Tim Heidecker released a song/album/whatever and Fantano didn't like it. Tim did his usual 4D chess comedy and said Fantano was a weird dude, which he took personally and complained about on Twitter. Tim kept saying something along the lines of "Yeah, not sure what you expect me to do about that. Seems like you're upset about something else." Fantano then started vaguetweeting about never meeting your heroes.
  • Whitethony Boytano reviewed some rapper's album and gave it a low score. The artist took to twitter to complain about white people reviewing black music. Fantano kept trying to explain why he should be allowed to review black music to a crowd of people who kept telling him he was white and shouldn't be allowed to review rap.
  • His dad is a powerlifter, probably contributing to Fattano's weird body composition.
  • He does live shows - not sure what happens at these.
  • He has some industry pull. "Boy band" Brockhampton credited him with giving them a boost on their initial run of albums before signing to RCA. This is probably true for other artists.
His taste has gotten worse as time goes on. Back when he was trolling /mu/ he seemed to actually like weird, out-there shit - now he's unironically promoting obvious industry plants and generic flavor-of-the-week rap/pop.

Having a beef with Tim Heidecker and his objectively awful music earns him one (1) single upcummy in my book. But that's all he gets.

The thing with Sam Hyde ended up with him backing off his tweet. Let's all remember he only disavowed Sam Hyde after the Journos went after him calling him an Alt Right figure (https://www.nme.com/news/music/popu...-pandering-alt-right-separate-channel-2147022). This led him to dropping a tour, which probably was going to have low turnout anyways, and going hard left to compensate. When Sam Hyde heard about that tweet, he tried to publicly reach out to Fantano and rebuild any possible bridges. Sam Hyde was the bigger man in that situation and Fantano looked like a weak, pandering bitch.

The pandering did work and his channel was allowed to go on which is what the entirety of his pull amounts to. He has a YouTube channel. That's it. He has adopted all the "correct" opinions to keep that going including with music. He uses that to prop up garbage like Joji. "He is my friend but believe me when I say that he is great and that I am being completely unbiased when I say that."

Feels like a parody at this point

Reminder that this faggot had "Free speech advocate" in his twitter bio and claimed for a couple years after the fader article that he still liked MDE he just didn't agree with Sam's politics. He actually had an MDE sticker on his macbook at one point, that's how big of a fan he was. He got in touch with Sam and interviewed him because of how much of a fanboy he was. This guy has zero spine at all.

Also can we talk about the democratic socialist bragging about how much he made suing the Fader? I mean good on suing it was obvious slander I would do the same but bragging and mocking people is just really poor taste and massively hypocritical because of his politics.

Sounds like classism to me. And call me crazy, but gloating about how much money you make compared to other people isn't just classism...it's blatantly the comical stereotype of capitalism. Lenin would be rolling in his Snow White coffin if he read the tweets of these privileged suburban champagne socialists.

Because he can't admit that, as a Leftist, he's actually part of the Establishment and not an underground punk.

The establishment are centrist liberals, not whatever the fuck Antknee is. He's definitely got pretty fringe political views. He's a proto-vegan communist hippy who has no political views beyond what his wife tells him.

The people he shills for are pure establishment hacks, so whatever he believes in private he's still getting cucked hard and hates to admit it.

I am not of generally giving too much thought to music reviewers but what Fantano needs is some competition. I do not mean Nardwar, I mean new blood that does what made people like Fantano on the first place, go out of the box and not be afraid to go beyond Top of the Pops tier shit. Hell, the more the better, specially if they are not white and american, that would hurt him bad considering how pissed he gets on Twitter.
I mean, I personally respect the analysis of guys like Whang, wabywebsurf or even Zeepsterd way more than Fantano and none of those guys focus on music. Whoever does might become the next Fantano, but I doubt is going to be as pathetic as the man himself.

It'll happen eventually. Fantano has become "the establishment" (maaan) and he'll get torn down and somebody new who is at the time of launch, on the outside. It'll be fun to see him bitch and moan when the day does come.

I remember that, yeah. Some guy called into Tim's show and got him to listen to Death Grips, which he said he didn't like. And then he went off about "that needle prick" and then Fantano tweeted the "never meet your heroes" thing.
It's this video but I'm too lazy to find the timestamp; it's somewhere around the 1 hour mark. (Note: while looking for it, I found 1:01:22 where he goes off about "Amazon are selling Proud Boys merchandise, we need to let Amazon know that we don't want them selling Nazi shit!!" in such a faggy way.)
Nvm, found it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDONqNQapPk&t=33m07s

Well there is a guy called Shawn Cee, but he gets compared to Fantano mainly for his way on how he likes to make everything a “PROBLEM”:

His comment section looks like r/hiphopheads, and he seems to be the type to repeat other people’s opinions on Twitter for pats on the back. He was also exposed for pretending to know about samples that he heard on a Madvilliany album. If anything, he comes across being slightly arrogant, but he’s not near the lolcow behavior of Fantano (yet).

As much as I dislike Fantano, palling around with someone like Sam Hyde is gonna severely limit you to a specific type of audience. AFAIK, they weren't even close friends outside of that one podcast Sam did. People here, in my view, have the same tribal blindspot where they think if you mock or take the piss out of one group that you must be part of the other warring tribe. Fantano's lefty political takes haven't changed, he's just more of an argumentative insufferable douche about it now. It's the whole reason why the Fader hitpiece was so laughably exceptional.
It's not about them being close friends or having the same political views. You can distance yourself from someone without being a complete backstabbing dick who joins in on trying to destroy them when you clearly didn't have any sincere problem with them before the social pressure started piling on. Tucker Carlson was actually an example of this when one of his writers got fired. Yes he distanced himself from the guy's statements, but he didn't join in kicking him while he was down, and said as much as he could to defend him as a human being while refuting some of the things he said.

Fagtano is a traitorous in-crowd rat who would sell his mother to the commissar for a mid-level Soviet propagandist job. I doubt he'd defend anyone at the cost of his career and social status, regardless of how close they were to him.

Suddenly I like Tim Heidecker a little better.

Amazon sells actual Nazi and fascist flags, along with shit from the other side like the Khmer Rouge flag, but of course this douche is triggered by the Proud Boys stuff. Let me guess, this is just a response to Antifa merch getting booted from various online stores, isn't it?

Because he's a poseur. And no matter what; how he started, he's accomplished, and how much money he brags about, a poseur will always remain such.

And unlike other people who "sell out" he can't even brag about "that being the point" because he's ultimately some jackass on YouTube hiving his opinion and not the guy making music. In the end, it's not about him. That's what kills him.

He's not even the bridesmaid, he's the guy throwing the rice. :story:
Nothing in the world screams small dick energy more than bragging about your income to win an argument, even more so in a twitter slapfight. Ironic from the guy who used to be all about the punk shit. On a related note, I'm sort of glad that the pendulum is swinging back to the public realizing that critics are narcissistic fart huffers with a strong sense of unwarranted self importance.

He’s even a “poser” when it comes to his politics. At the end of the day, it’s all a fashion statement for these types. They absolutely value the exact same things their consumer materialist boomer parents did, they just style it differently. The truth always comes out, though; they are massively insecure so they must brag and make petty personal remarks.

Huh, Fantano has been having an interesting night.
uh.PNG

Got some edgy Meh Mehs going

And then he proceeded to argue with a sixteen year old muscian. After that he began posting subtweets and eventually muted anyone from replying.

Again, for context, he's subtweeting about a sixteen year old musician. Doesn't this faggot have anything better to do?

The cherry on top is him using Twitter's new no replies feature after as some kind of "haha lol I got the last word and now I don't care anymore" statement.

I wonder if he'll delete all those tweets of seething, because being this mad at a child is pretty exceptional.

Bonus: the fanbase Anthony has spent the last few years chasing inevitably catches up with him:

As woke as Fantano has tried to be since the Fader article, his smugness on his music opinions being valid overrides any politics. I'm in a fb group for rap music & I saw this earlier today so there's definitely more people in the audience he's bent over to appeal to that want to cancel him now.
chrome_2020-08-29_12-20-33.png

Fantano always had to walk a fine line when he reinvented himself as a leftist because his whole career is inherently problematic to that crowd; he became popular in the first place because of a following on 4chan's /mu/ board & openly talked about being on 4chan for years, I think he even did a AMA on /mu/ in like 2014. Him responding to random small accounts replying with "I'm not mad you're the one that's mad WAH WAH" is such a bad tactic for maintaining that audience & is why he already alienated any right-of-center fan he had before. This is man who will call Trump supporters chuds & talk about white privilege on Twitter but once someone accuses him of that white privilege he blows up at them.

edit: ninjaed with that screenshot sorry but yeah man's is pissing off the people he spent 2 or 3 years winning over rn
