Nothing in the world screams small dick energy more than bragging about your income to win an argument, even more so in a twitter slapfight. Ironic from the guy who used to be all about the punk shit. On a related note, I'm sort of glad that the pendulum is swinging back to the public realizing that critics are narcissistic fart huffers with a strong sense of unwarranted self importance.

Also leaving aside that Hyde was 1000x more successful than Fantano and had his career executed by an angry Jewish producer. Like, yeah no shit you make more money than someone who's so blacklisted from society he can only use Gumroad to take payments.

As much as I dislike Fantano, palling around with someone like Sam Hyde is gonna severely limit you to a specific type of audience. AFAIK, they weren't even close friends outside of that one podcast Sam did. People here, in my view, have the same tribal blindspot where they think if you mock or take the piss out of one group that you must be part of the other warring tribe. Fantano's lefty political takes haven't changed, he's just more of an argumentative insufferable douche about it now. It's the whole reason why the Fader hitpiece was so laughably exceptional.

It's really good music. Better than anything melon has ever produced too. And it doesn't even matter if the lyrics are serious or just ironic.

  • Tim Heidecker released a song/album/whatever and Fantano didn't like it. Tim did his usual 4D chess comedy and said Fantano was a weird dude, which he took personally and complained about on Twitter. Tim kept saying something along the lines of "Yeah, not sure what you expect me to do about that. Seems like you're upset about something else." Fantano then started vaguetweeting about never meeting your heroes.
  • Whitethony Boytano reviewed some rapper's album and gave it a low score. The artist took to twitter to complain about white people reviewing black music. Fantano kept trying to explain why he should be allowed to review black music to a crowd of people who kept telling him he was white and shouldn't be allowed to review rap.
  • His dad is a powerlifter, probably contributing to Fattano's weird body composition.
  • He does live shows - not sure what happens at these.
  • He has some industry pull. "Boy band" Brockhampton credited him with giving them a boost on their initial run of albums before signing to RCA. This is probably true for other artists.
His taste has gotten worse as time goes on. Back when he was trolling /mu/ he seemed to actually like weird, out-there shit - now he's unironically promoting obvious industry plants and generic flavor-of-the-week rap/pop.

Because he's a poseur. And no matter what; how he started, he's accomplished, and how much money he brags about, a poseur will always remain such.

And unlike other people who "sell out" he can't even brag about "that being the point" because he's ultimately some jackass on YouTube hiving his opinion and not the guy making music. In the end, it's not about him. That's what kills him.

I remember a while back Chris hinted that Anthony had blocked him, or at the very least didn’t respond to his messages.

As others have said Anthony does what is best for his career. He rode the anti-SJW train while that was “cool“ and jumped off it when the They/Thems in the web media started attacking them. It’s now pretty safe to poke fun at the PJWs and Rooshs of this world, but Shoe and Chris were never as far deep into the ideology as they are, so he’s quietly tried to memoryhole that whole thing as there’s nothing to gain from attacking them other than looking like more of a pathetic keyboard warrior than he already is.
 
How can one man look so much like Shaun King and and a shaved scrotum yet neither of those descriptions seem referential to each other? It's truly a talent to behold, and it's not like his reviews were ever worth a shit, so he should take what accolades he can get.
