The $3000 makes sense. It is the total of his mortgage ($1800) and his back tax payment, and a little extra.

That means that everything he said before this was a complete lie - none of the money raised this week reduced the goal, this was always the cost and this was always what the marathon was going to be. All that money was pocketed, and now he wants the actual money to cover the bills.

He also just claimed that $3k is not a replacement for what he makes on Twitch - this is greatly reduced.
Yeah, that's correct, but the $200/stream goal already replaced the Twitch earnings. So of course this $3k doesn't solely replace the Twitch income - it was supposed to already have been replaced. Semantics.
