My bank is going to send out my third one about a week from now. I'm not sure they're necessarily getting processed in order, since my first should have been received around November 5th. All we can do is be patient until the system is fully worked out.

And not even checks done this way. Unironically this is almost 200 year old technology that goes back to the telegraph era. The information requested is basically what would be requested to be transmitted in morse code via telegram. The order would be translated and include unique identifying numbers and information, which would then be physically written with pen on a card and then a courier would deliver the telegram to your bank, which will then issue a check and mail it out. Part of the reason the banks cannot refuse this service is because they are legally required to provide it from laws that were written over a century ago and Congress never got around to repealing or amending them.


Makes me wonder if I fucked it up somehow, or my bank is just being slow *sigh*
 
Well, I just set up the bill pay ID on my bank account. Looking forward to it in a couple of weeks.

Mine also says 'processed' but when I drill down further into their interface, it appears this means it was created and sent out, not necessarily cashed.

Mine is marked as having arrived in WV on 12/05 but hasn't been cashed yet. Guess it's still within the timeline but I'm getting antsy.
 
if Null actually cashes the checks that are sent to him how is he supposed to swim around in them Scrooge McDuck style?

You're probably right. He most likely always used a card for everything, and if a check was ever necessary either his parents or wife happened to be the one to take care of it. But on the other hand, you would think even just receiving a check for deposit would kind of clue someone in on how a check gets filled out. Even now, I still occasionally receive a check in the mail.

Just thinking... his mind would probably explode if he ever saw one of those old-fashioned credit card "manual imprinter" machines, in action, with the carbon paper and all that. 🤣

People recognizing getting checks to deposit and having the self realization to see whats on there, vs what they have to put down when they go to pay via check makes too much sense.

Those card imprinters always seemed cool, but i could never justify getting one, between not having a use case + most cards now just getting the card info printed on, instead of stamped.
