Advocatus diaboli: Phil is not evil. He acts this way because he himself is a victim of his addictions to gacha games and alcohol, and maybe fast food. He is as evil as a junkie stealing from his own mother, or a hungry wolf attacking a lamb. He is not evil, just an idiot without self control, intellect, foresight, emotional intelligence and self awareness.
An evil person in my opinion must either do something very bad, or fully know that what they are doing unnecessarily hurts others but don't care about it. I think Phil doesn't see himself as a bad influence to his dents and probably can't accept that he is an addict.
But he is 100% gay.
I know some might hate it, but I like these discussions.

I do think its interesting to get into the psychology of lolcows and DSP is an interesting case as far as that goes, but I think its better to avoid analyzing him in a moralistic way since, in the grand scheme of things, he isn't leaving behind a trail of victims or anything.
 
I think what needs to be done is to determine when his gacha addiction truly started controlling his life (there is probably already information but I am too lazy to look for it) and put things into perspective. For example, one could argue that his streams where he begged his viewers to give him money to "save the house" are worse than what he is doing now. But was he already spending money on his addictions back then? Can this behavior be excused by claiming that he could not control himself? Also, we know that he would do anything for more money even way back in his early YouTube days (click on the ads) and he treated his fans are shit, so I am not sure there has been a significant change. Maybe in the means, but the end has been the same.

Phil is a textbook pattern/flowchart player which is hilarious considering he accuses everyone else of being pattern players.

He has 30 years of experience and still doesn’t know how to advance across the screen without jumping forward. Anytime he gets knocked down he’s going to wake up super or try to jump out. He rarely if ever just blocks on wake up.

Just watch him play Cammy in CvS2. The only way he advances is by jumping forward or spiral arrow from full screen. If he dive kicks and it whiffs he’s going to cannon spike hoping to catch you pressing a button. If you block the dive kick he’ll do stand HP then try to walk forward and throw.

He has no combos almost all his damage comes from wake up supers Hail Mary level 3’s and basic strike/throw mix ups.

Dude has been practicing the same chun li combo in training mode for like a month and I still have yet to see him land it in an actual match.

For anyone thats not into fighting games this is the most blatant telltale sign of a scrub. I used to do that when I was a kid.

Advancing with forward jumps is only meant to be used strategically because it leaves you wide open, vulnerable and without the ability to block. It's why no one decent does this. The noob wake ups are also humiliating.

Not even. He USED to offer that, then switched to offering to eat slop for the dents, and now not even that is a guarantee. He just wants to turn on his camera and literally just sit there while dents give money then clock out as soon as he can.
Pimps, priests, and politicians are all the same, somehow Phil is both a combination of them all and worse than all of them combined.
 
The "is Phil evil" or as he would put it "is he a bad guy" talk is interesting, I know I get roped into it a lot.

I think some give him too much credit for being a mastermind at what he does - begging hard. And others seem to think he's too simple to know he's doing the wrong thing. What I see is that while he is a man child in all the worst ways, he also hasn't faced hard consequences that he couldn't wiggle out of with at least some success.
  • Was a retard growing up -> give him a pill, sorry, a cocktail of pills, and keep him in private school so he doesn't get bullied
  • Resident keyboard warrior in FGC -> nobody checks him in person in a way that changes his behavior - I'm of the belief that talking shit and that leading to a beat down fixes things
  • Can't get into any prestigious colleges (as one interview with him would scare anybody anyway -> parents buy his way into a Jesuit private college, which only exist for legacies and idiots who didn't get into an Ivy but thumb their nose at public college
  • Can't get an actual real job out of college, since he was a retard and unlikeable and didn't do the one thing you do at a private college, network with alumni -> nepo hire where his dad works, being given an empty title with likely no responsibilities
  • Gets laid off from said nepo job -> that's fine, he gets into Youtube as it becomes a big platform for gaming
  • Incel into 20s with no women in sight -> meet a barely legal fan who craves guys with status & money - also likely never fucked her willingly
  • Moves cross country with no plan with said girl -> still making 6 figures and can cry to parents when necessary as they don't say no
  • Pushes said girl away -> digs into DMs and finds another girl wanting to chase clout or money or something
  • Goes bankrupt due to his own dumbass fault -> happens during a once in a century pandemic, approved, doesn't change spending habits, if anything makes them worse
  • Literally any time he is broke in present times -> beg retards who think you're their friend for help
The few times Phil failed/was told no, and couldn't whine his way out of said situation, he tends to bring up still to this day. Wolverine doll, FGC shunning him, Twitch de-partnering him, (for a long time) girls rejecting him, etc. I think of it this way... if a kid is going around being a menace, I blame the parents, especially young kids. Mentally Phil is a 7 year old but he's been a 7 year old for decade, I think it's his fault at this point.

Back to the evil thing though, Phil does understand what he does is bad. You see glimmers of it still, when he does one of his toxic begs ("guys who is going to tip $900 so we can get 6 goals today"), he will always chuckle afterwards. I think shame is long gone and he's at the point of laughing to himself that he can get away with this without anything happening. He is the kid stealing a cookie when he shouldn't or punching somebody with no witnesses. Until hardcore begging like he's doing now doesn't work, he won't change.

One other thing... my favorite DSP-ism which is "I'm not evil, Phil hasn't hurt anyone or murdered anyone". True, but Phil is a unique case where if you watch or interact with him for a short period of time, it's hard not to say he's a piece of shit. Which, for somebody who "hasn't done anything wrong" is pretty bad.

Meh. The evil opinion is subjective. However, he is not beyond actively putting thought into what he does such as minimizing 'hateful slurs'. That is a conscious decision he has made.
If he didn't feign distress and let people donate naturally, you would have a point. But to lie and say giving is not mandatory then demand people give you money is horseshit. He knows he produces garbage not worthy of receiving money.

There are millions of people out there who think they are intelligent, hard working and respectful individuals. When in actuality are retarded, lazy and annoying faggots. I work with one occasionally and it’s maddening that he’s gone through life thinking he’s owed everything when he’s quite possibly the most worthless coworker ive ever seen who isn’t a nepo hire.

Phil's narcissism also needs to be taken into account. He genuinely believes nothing has ever been his fault, the content he makes is amazing, the trolls are just jealous.

Add in the perfect storm of incredible luck that keeps enabling Phil to not only skate through life but be relatively well-off through his financial recklessness.

99% of untalented narcissists like Phil are working menial jobs that nobody ever notices. 1% are trust fund kids with no need to mingle with the plebeians. And then there's Phil.
