I don't understand the need for fanartists - usually adults - to slap their gender and sexuality headcanons onto characters who are 15 year olds. It makes them (the artists) look like freaks.

That's a "thing" with lots of these arts, even decently-drawn ones. I've seen the "lesbian AU of Sleeping Beauty" art a week or so ago - if not for the text, the "butch" looked 100% like a guy.
