It's because they don't bother with lighting and draw in flats. When they do try to paint anyone with non-caucasian skin, they don't understand how light reacts with it and instead of using a lighter color out of fear of white washing they just make a muddy mess. Most professionals in the industry learn the variations of physical features in different ethnic groups and then just use a lighter color, different colored line art, very minor shading, etc and let the physical traits compensate. Pick up any copy of Corto Maltese and you'll see that different races are depicted and easily read just by the features they're drawn with even though it's in black and white.


TL;DR: Fuckers need some Loomis in their lives.

You shouldn't be surprised. I have seen stupid person on Tumblr accusing really well-drawn very dark-skinned black person as black face (reason because the artist was white, of course). I was assuming that person never met black person before. Plot twist, they were black. I was confused and seriously believed they never met someone darker (aka someone with more African ancestors) than them.

Idk if you guys know yet but apparently a bunch of western sjw artists bullied a Japanese art teacher off of twitter and made her stop giving teachings in english all because she showed differences of a beginner vs pro and gave advice on how to improve all for free i might add pisses me off really Manga Materials was her twitter i think it's deleted now

It appears she still has her japanese twitter account.

The only thing I like about twitter is the japanese artists but most of them are on pixiv, so there is no point.
