I definitely get the muppet thing from Jaimie. Something about the way she moves her hands - it's like someone else is controlling them, and they don't quite know what to do, so they gesture weirdly.

She does a lot of tiktok lives that I would never watch (because it's just her repeating "period," "slay," and "bestie.") Reddit usually has a recap of those. One is her yawn faces. Like, normal people cover their mouths when they yawn. Not Jaimie.

The daft thing is that there is a huge appetite for accounts using them to lose weight. I keep getting served them on instagram. So she could pivot to that, and she could even do it as a health/skin thing.
Watching people lose a shitton of weight on GLP-1 is a lot of fun. Not just the influencers, but normal, everyday people who shed an entire kpop idol worth of weight in a single year.

I especially like the ones where they’re grinning over some gnarly restaurant food item in the before pic. Like, you go girl. The piss chili whipped-cream-a-rita has no power over you now.

@Otterly People who can't pivot their attachment to their identity (when the selection of it feels SO arbitrary in the first place!) in the face of help, evidence, and the labor of others keep this board operational.

I think I'm just MATI about the woman starving her kid in the munchie thread this morning.

Oh, sorry, I searched for it but I didn't find it for some reason. I can start moving post there if it's annoying.
I think I'll move stuff over, and crosspost here if people don't want to watch multiple threads 👍 or is that doing too much? I'm new to posting 'content' lol, I'm not entirely certain what the protocol should be.

Edit: goddamnit I meant to quote @HamFan , I think the brain rot that is Virgie's podcast is getting to me

I wonder what level of youtube binging fat girls will get demonetized like Amber. Would Hungry Fat Chick pass their new standards? QuirkyLoveRosee is deleting videos the last couple days.
They talk about how CHILDREN ARE BEING ABUSED AND DYING because they're ALL being forced to take GLP1s right now.
That's infuriating. It's critically important to keep lower level obese teens from becoming super obese. If a teen is 50 lbs over weight and gaining, she'll be so much better off if she doesn't gain another 50 lbs.

If teens are double the weight they should be, they're far less likely to be in sports or physical activities. They get loose skin that will never fully retract and will need surgery to remove. They get the social stigma the regular-obese teens don't get in 2025 (cause so many people are fat now). They accumulate conditions like pre-diabetes and joint damage.
My state is trying to pass a bill that will completely remove my customers' need for the most important service that I offer
That sucks. I'm sorry.

I don't know who remembers when the federal government banned flavored cigarettes other than menthol, but it had a devastating affect on small high-end cigarette businesses. There were little companies that sold clove cigs, mint cigs, etc. Once they couldn't make their expensive little niche products, they couldn't compete with Big Tobacco.

It's an unsympathetic product, but if you were going to smoke it made sense to support small businesses that only used the highest grade tobacco. I was glad when my friends smoked clove cigs because at least they didn't smell as bad as unflavored.

I've said it plenty of times before but it bears repeating: these types of people are so vehemently "my body, my choice" (not just in the abortion sense but medically and nutritionally speaking, too) and encourage others to follow it, but they sure seem to love controlling other peoples' bodies and choices when it comes to how they choose to take care of it the moment someone announces they are going to be going on Zepbound/Wegovy.
And that's fine if they kept it to themselves but then telling others that that shouldn't go on a weight loss journey or take Ozempic is something completely different.

Talk about your attempts to lose weight. Tell them of your struggles. Admit to them that you're a fat fuck with zero willpower who lost weight in the stupid way and you love cake too much give it up. But don't tell people that "weight loss is teh evuls and they're trying to destroy us!".

Just an anecdote but last friday some tween and teen oriented act was playing at the venue around where I live and there were like 100, 11-18 year old type folks lined up. Maybe it was just the type of person that listened to that group but probably 4/5 were chubby, 1/5 looked normal weight or fit for a youth, and probably 2/5 were already super morbidly obese, the girls especially.

It was horrifying. Many of them had already seemingly given up on appearance beyond that as well, really sloppy hair, baggy ill fitting clothes and so on. Every older generation thinks the one behind them is doomed but god damn man that was something.

Thank god GLPs came and helped end the FA bullshit.

I hope GLPs can reduce the obesity epidemic in the US because 2 out of 5 teenagers already being super morbidly obese is absurd.

The latest CDC number I could find was pre pandemic and they estimated in 2020 1/5 adolescents was obese. In the 5 years and post Covid I can totally align what I saw with a rate closer to 40% overall and now 15% or so SMO already. My anecdote was clearly biased towards that band's demographic of the awkward don't play sports kids, but still 2/5 overall seems completely plausible. And obese teens and kids don't usually grow up to skinny adults it just gets worse.

Unless you're very young, you can really shock yourself with your own school pics.

Go get your high school yearbook. Look up pics of the fat girls. You know, the ones all the cool kids made hippo jokes about at the time? They're only slightly chubby by today's standards. It's like watching that old Minnie Driver movie where she was the fat girl everyone thought could never get a man...and she was maybe 20 lbs overweight.
And obese teens and kids don't usually grow up to skinny adults it just gets worse.
It used to be that the chubby boys would often slim down once they got away from their food-pushing families. They'd join the army, join college sports, play pickup basketball, etc. They weren't eating fast food or too many calories because they were bachelors living off ham sandwiches and cans of soup.

The girls were a mixed bag. If they were unathletic or turned to food for stress eating, that didn't generally stop in college. Some turned it around though.

I doubt that happens much anymore unless the teen's childhood was deeply disturbed on the level of 600 lb parents or an alcoholic granny throwing Little Debbies at kids to shut them up. We have a major societal shitty food and inactivity problem, and it hits the young people hardest because they've never known anything else.

We need to bring home education classes back in some form. Who teaches their teens to cook entire meals from scratch today? Those are major life skills that aren't being taught. And don't even get me started on personal finance education...

The over use of SSRIs and other RX drugs, especially for young girls, isn't helping. We boomeranged so hard and I get that the waif culture of the late 90s and aughts wasn't healthy either so we need to find some sort of middle ground. I remember in like 2018 it was back, the hip huggers, daisy dukes, midriff baring baby Ts, that summer was the closest thing to my era of HS I had seen fashion wise then that pandemic hit and it was over. People really let themselves go including teens. Anna bless her heart finally picked up on the oversized trend a bit this year. Yikes.

True, but in 2018 everyone under 200 lbs were wearing those. In fact, I saw some 250 lbs teens in the daisy dukes. I still see them in midriff shirts or sports bras, although they're mostly latino or black girls. Fashion has been divorced from body shape for many younger women.

But back in the 90s and 2000s, only the thin girls would dare wear really revealing clothes. Can you imagine someone wearing a size 24 bikini in the 90s? I don't think they existed.

Back when teen trendy clothes only went up to size 12 or 14, that gave some girls incentive to stop gaining when they were at the edge of the size range. A high school friend dieted down from Lane Bryant back into whatever teen store was hot at the time, and she was THRILLED.

This is a troublingly underexplored issue. It took a long time for the medical establishment to admit that Prozac was associated with suicide in teens or that SSRIs make some boys more violent or manic. Many of the early school shooters had been on SSRIs. Of course that reflects prior mental issues, so it's not directly causal. But sometimes a drug can amplify tendencies.

It's a very small sample size, but the high school anorexics I knew were on Prozac (or Paxil?) and it seemed to make them worse in that weird manic way some anachans get. I knew plenty of depressed teens, but some of them got weirder on SSRIs even as their depression was lifting. I knew one girl who completely flipped out when she first started SSRIs to the point of hospitalization. But she had lots of problems, so it might've been a coincidence.

I think you’ll find that all the Virgie posts will get moved by admin to her thread once admin see these posts. Protocol, like it or not, is to post in the relevant thread where there is one.

ETA:
Oh, thank you! I am slow on these things.
I’m sure many of us have had posts moved to their relevant threads in the past. If someone has a thread, particularly someone your post is exclusively about, then post there. That way their thread is active and another thread doesn’t get overtaken.

Edited to add: they have been moved, sorry @Diet Coke 4 Life ! There will be weird gaps in my comments here now lol.

Sorry to be a bit off topic, but SSRIs tend to induce mania in people who are predisposed to it. It's one of the main ways people discover they are bipolar--go to a psych or their gp for a depressive episode, get prescribed SSRIs, and then bam. Manic time.

Something on topic: I honestly love the Plus-Size Park Hoppers. It's rare these days to find cows who are just fairly harmless and living their weird fat lives. I know they're body positive and shit but they don't blabber and proselytize about it. As a dirty disgusting lurker, many thanks to the people who keep up with them
