A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Wales seems like it would be fairly easy to get along, especially if you take your time to learn the language. There's little cultural difference between Wales and England, or no more difference than you'd find between, say, Yorkshire and Essex. Scotland would be a much more difficult proposition. I'd suspect, however, that any large movement of English into Wales would create the sort of resentment you might see in any norf town when a mass of Londoners turn up. Best to avoid it unless absolutely necessary.

I don't really like the comparisons to south africa. The whites were always a minority there, whereas we're still going to be the absolute majority here for a long time, even if that majority is shrinking at a worrying rate. The problem we have is that our ruling order has been subverted by an alien ideology, to which it has capitulated on our behalf and is now using its social power to force us into compliance. It's possibly ironic that this is similar to how the Saxons came to dominate the Britons; they set themselves up as the ruling class, then used their status to require anyone who interacted with them to conform to their social norms. People rapidly adopted the new culture in order to acquire or maintain privilege and power, which is why so many "saxon" burials are genetically brythonic.

This mass movement of peoples is how empires have historically prevented uprisings, through a process of deracination and division. The mistake they might be making is that they haven't moved an equivalent population of locals to some other part of the "empire", meaning that the majority here still retain a connection to their culture and history. Black pill take is that they're doing it deliberately in order to create a rebellion that can be crushed with extreme force. White pill take is that they're too arrogant to realise the problem they're storing up.

On an entirely unrelated note, since we're talking about travel to foreign places: You must consider, when planning your Ultimate Destination package, that if you have to go, you should take as many of our new friends with you as you can. No need to decide between one or the other.

On paper yes that happens, but do you know what also happens? An entire town full of people in a lower cost of living area with significantly lower wages than elsewhere end up getting completely priced out of living there. If you have a house it doesn't even matter if house prices go up, if you're in one of the poorest areas of the UK you can't go to a place any poorer.

Gentrification only works when there's somewhere for the poors to go to, if there isn't then they just become homeless and angry. It's why I see the real powder keg moment happening in a shithole town. Kids who are now adults who have been fucked with their entire working lives being told to move into tents so Pakis can get a house there have genuinely nothing to lose, and unlike a city like Manchester or whatever, the police force in a humdrum shithole town is like 100 people maximum. Easily enough to be overwhelmed.
 
Between people from South Wales and most of England, there's a good friendship and even when we play each other at football or rugby union etc. the banter is good fun.

The North Wales folks ('Gogs' after gogledd which is Welsh for North) are usually okay if they're from Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy - but the further northwest you go the less chance of a 'welcome in the hillside' there will be as a lot of people in what I call 'Welsh Wales' such as Ceredigion, Gwynedd and around Barmouth and Harlech will talk in Welsh/yn Gymraeg if they know you're English or are talking English. Unsurprisingly, most of these areas very heavily vote Plaid Cymru.

West Wales can be a bit funny too, as Pembrokeshire is known as 'Little England beyond Wales' due to the amount of retirees from England who live out their final days there, and some of the youngsters oppose this as they can't get on the property ladder locally. This is why some (not all) of them support the tourist tax and tax on second homes and bans on retired people moving to 'their area'.

Of course, go to Bream Sands, Weston-super-Mare and Bridgwater and there's loads of Welsh pensioners who've settled there too.

South Wales has been mainly English speaking since coal was found there, and miners from England moved across and resettled here. That's why there's still the strong ties with the Midlands and Northern England due to the Working Class roots that we have.
 
I'm not living in any of these places but from what I've seen it seems like Ireland, UK and Spain will be the first ones to get their shit together. Germany will take a while but they'll get there. Places like Sweden and Norway will also revolt because while they may seem nice and harmless at first, they are hella racist, yes even the woke ones. I think France is too far gone tbh, feels like they just accepted their fate.

But obviously feel free to disagree. Which ones do you think will start fixing themselves first? Am I being optimistic about the UK?

Perhaps, but change is inevitable and the current system cannot continue.

In the EU, it will end with the exit of Germany and then France - Germany is already not behaving, but the EU has limited power to discipline them in that Germany is the main financial benefactor to its failed vanity project BUT Germany's main three financial markets don't include them.

China, USA and UK are Germany's main three in order and the trade deals with just these three alone run into trillions of Euros. The EU is fourth on the list.

Let that sink in - Germany does more deals with three non-EU countries than it does with the whole bloc.

Germany leaving will make France panic as they will then be told 'it's your turn to pick up the tab'.

We're in a 'change phase' and the change for once is against toxic liberal values.

As for Spain, hmm I think they're stuck with their cucks for a while longer - when the lack of tourism bucks hits their national budget and taxes rocket then maybe we'll see a backlash.

The Scandanavian countries are now turning in the right direction as well, at long last.

All I'm gonna say is do not underestimate the racism of a swarthy Spanish man. The government will do something about immigration when tourism stops being profitable obviously but they may kill the president before that even happens. They were literally hunting moroccans a few weeks ago (and they had a damn good reason for it!!!)

But apparently the countries I wasn't counting on may be the ones bringing actual change. Hey I'm not complaining lol, I just don't hear French and Germans complaining online so I just assume they're cool with what's happening.

I was lucky/unlucky enough to grow up in one of the first areas to be pakified, I saw first hand what's coming to the rest of the country. I twice moved to white-areas that were both browned within a few years of arriving (maybe it's me?), so I left the country.

I don't remember being in that bar..... Certainly most of the places you describe ( 95% white and staying that way ) don't have a Spoons or a KFC or a McDonalds. For a very good reason - if you build it, they will come.

There's a lot of sentiment around "when the English/Brits/French/Krauts/etc" are pushed too far, they go medieval and the crusades will march again. I believe it, but it may be copium. When was the last time a former strong country/empire came back for a revival? (honest question. I need some more copium, my supply has ran out).

Places like that always attract the scummiest people. And this country has more fast food places than people. Every high street is food, charity shops and gambling places.

It's the same as when Californians leave their state for Texas or Brits leave the country for Australia. You made your bed in your home state/country, so don't fucking come over here and do the same thing again. Australia is full of Brits who decry the state of Britain and what it's become, then are getting the hump with Aussies for being too racist.

Plus, there's a part of me at least which sees it as pure cowardice. If your partner has another citizenship and you go to live in their country, fair enough. However fleeing the country with no particular ties anywhere else and nothing really to offer either just makes you as much of a waste of space as the pakis and somalis.

That was in 1789. Since then they've achieved nothing but surrendering to the Germans. The whole French resistance thing is a lie we allow them to tell as we gelt sorry for them. We paused arming the resistance as it became clear they weren't fighting the Nazis and were just saving the weapons for a civil war after the US and UK liberated them.

The French are cowards of the highest order. The greatest ever Frenchman was actually an Italian.
