I find it funny that we have asian and black evles now. they just humans with pointy ears.
Standard operating procedure for modern day diversity hires. Notice how all the aliens in Star Wars and Star Trek these days are just humans with different skin tones and some furs, horns, etc stuck here and there?

It's actually hilarious the more I look at it. You can see the DEI flowchart written all over. In order to satisfy the woke cocksuckers they've had to do away with the big eyes and nose bridge of DA2 elves, ditch the lithe Inquisition design (can't upset the fatties) and then, within the confines of a new cartoony makeover, have them look more like realistic humans than the actual humans. All just to triple down that this is unquestionably, without any shadow of a doubt The Representation™ and not just, y'know, elves with different skin tones. Entire million dollar art departments dictated to by the deranged whims of a few ugly whining tumblr cunts who comprise a miniscule proportion of the potential audience.

▪Game Director: "Incredibly deep" RPG progression, "if I were to contrast Mass Effect vs Dragon Age, for instance, I really view Mass Effect as an ARPG. Big action, minor RPG. We're almost the total inverse of that"
▪"Enormous" skill tree web that is bespoke for each class
▪Skill tree web is a bit similar to FFX's Sphere Grid, players start in the center of it, and work outwards towards specializations they want
▪Example: Warriors can pump skill points into something more defense oriented, weapons oriented or abilities
▪Warrior Specializations: Reaper (can lifesteal, "freaky" powers), Slayer ("wield the biggest blades"), Champion (tank)
▪The origin you select at the start can net you bonuses like extra dialogue options or stat boosts (ex: Shadow Dragons deal extra damage to Venatori blood cultists)
▪Skills are unique per class, every level nets a skill point + other activities to get points
▪Where other RPGs might see players invest all their skill points to reach a specialization, the team wanted players here to reach specializations about mid-game, and "then you can really branch out"
Each companion has 5 core abilities, each with their own skill trees that players can customize (lower cooldowns, add additional effects, etc)
▪Elemental mechanics are very important (ice, fire, electricity, etc)
▪Each companion also has unique abilities that are tied specifically to them (Neve has ice powers for example)
>"Incredibly deep RPG progression"
>proceeds to describe how the game is the exact opposite of an RPG

You can't make this shit up:story:
Not surprised this random faggot troon, who thinks the core message of DA is "diversity and inclusion", is completely out of touch with what a CRPG actually is. This is the most surface level shit.
And it's complete with the nigger mentioning a JRPG as a comparison, lol.

looks up Fiona

How the Hell is she supposed to be anything but white?
They say the same thing for Zevran and Dorian. I remember seeing some fag on reddit who made a plushie of Dorian with coal-black skin, and all the comments were like "thx for not whitewashing him like all the chuds".
Apparently Duncan is meant to be black or some shit too. Maybe that's mentioned in the books or extraneous (atrocious) media.
And the writers definitely DO encourage this, I think one explicitly made up in some Q&A that Dorian is acktually Indian.

Also holy fuck, I forgot about that bitch. How THE FUCK IS THAT ALLISTAIRS MOTHER NIGGA? BITCH IS MEANT TO BE DEAD. You're telling me that Allistair is the son of an ELF MAGE, that she managed to cure her darkspawn AIDs, totally abandoned Goldanna and just happens to show up randomly in Redcliff as the grand enchanter for the mages?
How did they get away with this nonsense?

That "inspired by FF" got some idiots excited, even though that means nothing as anyone who has eaten at a fusion restaurant will tell you. Game companies are desperate when they start bringing out the comparisons to more popular games.

The VA is part Indian but if they're saying Dorian is Indian, then it's really progressive of Bioware to compare India's caste system to Tevinter's slavery, and I certainly hope that no pajeets read this and go ballistic about Bioware not respecting POCs cultural heritage.

Well, at least we'll be able to choose the PC's "body type" and pronouns!

Short King! Napoleon approved dorf.

Zevran, wasn't that the italian looking elf?

Keks all around at this woke trash fire, but playersexual characters aren't a new thing. It was just another shortcut for developers that trannies happened to love.

Why a level cap?!? Fuck you. The level cap in Iniquistions had me stop playing the game, twice. I can't finish it, as autistic as it may be, knowing that my progress means nothing. Even if it's just stat boosts, give me a reason to RPG in an RPG instead of action.
Because balancing high level fantasy powers to feel earned without making the magic classes horribly imba is hard and everyone started making fun of Bethesda's solution where enemies level with you and by the end you're fighting a horde of final boss dragons all the time as random encounters.
This is also why BG3 had a level cap that most players hit halfway through the game.

I don’t think most people are saying it’s new, just that it devalues a character in these games.

It caters to the “everyone should want me” crowd, as opposed to making fleshed out characters with their own wants, desires, and redlines.

Okay, Harding is a love interest. Either PC has a micropeen, or female dwarves have a deep caverns
Varric as the PC and Harding walk off towards her tent: "Looks like someone is venturing to the Deep Roads tonight!"

DAI fans were mad that their Qunari couldn't romance Solas, even though Solas only being interested in female elves was part of his character. An early mod removed all romance restrictions entirely. There was a blowup over doing this for Dorian; some players said "hey, isn't this conversion therapy/ruining the point of his story?" and some said "but I want to play as a woman and romance the dashing gay guy!" Fun times for all.

Yep, it happened with Cyberpunk too. It’s why we get “Bland Horny Plank™️” as characters in these games now.

They get the picture if you try to change Judy or Dorian, but don’t get it with everyone else.

It ain't funny now that the yaoi crowd got the gay dude, is it theythems?

I know its cringe, but I am fine with playersexual. It is a single player game, and if you let the player initiate the line if he wants to, that's not too much. The problem starts when they get bitchy and eat your boots if you don't want to eat the poopoo with them. Yes I am looking at you BG3.

Now in a perfect world you would get fully custom built characters for every taste, but when rpgs do that it is also a risk that the companions will be less fleshed out.

IMBA?

The solution is to make magic classes terrible in the early game, barely decent in the mid game and super powered in the late game. I can't remember if it's Origins or DA2, but there was a mage skill where you could swap Strength and Magic requirements in armour, so you could make a tanky fireball throwing maniac. You had to slog through some power creep.

In the past, this is how it worked with RPGs, even as far back as Easy Medium Hard difficulty levels where Warrior was Easy, Rogue/Archer was Medium, leaving Sorcerer/Mage as Hard difficulty.

Besides, the level caps can only usually be hit if you do all of the side quests etc, so if I'm invincible in a game I've paid for by grinding out extra XP.

never understood that urge to balance everything and make it boring. Sometimes one just wants to feel overpowered and crush the enemies under one's mighty boot
My Brother in overpower. Ninety Nine Nights and Kingdom Under Fire allowed me to slay thousands of enemies at a time, it never, not once, got boring. bring on the hordes!!

It's ballsy move to release a shitty half bkaed RPG after Baldurs Gate 3 raised the bar.
I doubt this project is anything but the slapped together remnants of a Dragon Age themed live service game, pushed out in an attempt to earn back any money they could from the flaming pit that is this game's budget.

It's like comparing a mcdonald's burger to a finely prepared steak, it's not even trying to compete.

At one point it was literally an Anthem clone, but that was quickly scrapped after Anthem's failure. I wouldn't be surprised if the code is still there, however.

I recall reading a comment about the lack of looting. Someone pointed out that there's little numbers that pop up instead, and the response was basically "Oh that's the gold you're getting <3" They then explained that they were glad that it saved time because they didn't like taking a moment to loot after a battle.

The only thing I could think of was that it was a leftover from the Anthem code.

The funny thing about Dorian is his dad didn't even have a problem with him being a faggot, he just wanted Dorian to do his duty and continue the whole magic eugenics program by breeding with some other noble magic girl. What he did behind closed doors as a Tevinter magic aristocrat would have upset nobody.

"But I'd be miserable!" suck it up, in Tevinter they regularly purchase slaves just to be used as blood sacrifices. Dorian is incredibly privileged even by the standards of a pseudo feudal/Byzantine esque society and seems to be confused why people in the south dislike slavery.

But the Tumblr fandom latched onto "suave funny gay guy"(who you know would be a popular romance option for women-handsome, british accent, jacked).

This sort of plotline always drives me nuts in fantasy shit. You live in a feudal medieval society where terrible things can happen all the time, you're a noble, you're rich and powerful, all you need to do is beat off and scoop it into a girl's womb after to have a kid.

No! I want pozzloads only dad! Fuck you!

This makes Dorian the most selfish, callous, faggot ever. So basically the perfect gay man. No wonder they identify so much.

New Q&A happened on the bioware discord, confirming that you can't even control the other party members during battle. When your character goes down, you either reload or a party member can revive you if they're spec'd to do so.
