just got to the episode with the badgers. I had no fucking clue that these ratty little shits were so protected over an alleged problem that got solved 40 years ago.

Glad that Clarkson's doing what he can to keep the farm going. Was going to make a point about how staying in the EU wouldn't have really made much of a difference in the long run as the EU has done nothing to prevent the French and Dutch govnt. from ruining its farming sectors for no discernable reason and would have done nothing to stop the UK govnt from doing the same thing, but this is a thread for talking about a farming show.

Glad he didn't apologize directly to Meghan, though. That fucking rat kike can stew eternally at the fact that she will never be the Queen of England.

Of course he's keeping the farm. In the UK it's exempt from inheritance tax.

The badgers glow in the dark, you can see them when driving. Just run them over.

I want to say it's bullshit that you need to get a loicense to use your own private property as a restaurant, but it is a possible menace to the people living nearby, unlike something like a shed.

You can't see the restaurant from the road.

They wouldn't even allow a car park, visitors are parking on the road instead. That's actually dangerous...

It's just standard NIMBY Britishism. "I'm a sad old twat so Clarkson has to be too"...

This. The building is already there, the faggots in the council don't actually have a leg to stand on, especially seeing as the proposed care park does not; obstruct any line of sight regarding the AoNB or have any further risk regarding dark skies at night as it's right next to a fucking caravan park, AND it would actually prevent the issues that the farm has regarding parking.

All of this boils down to the fact that OCC is actively trying to ruin its own farming sector so that the british equivalent of WASPs can continue to have a 'lovely dog walking country without any icky farm stuff going on <:('. The fact that the only sensible person in that entire council meeting was the woman who understands that the council cannot afford to fuck over its own farming sector because they're petty and shit and don't want to allow clarkson to try and fix a problem that they can't be bothered to resolve because that would make them look incompetent, ie the old chinese tactic of saving face.

I don't think I've ever been this pissed off at a local council in my life, they all deserve to be taken out back like old yeller, or strung up and hung from the gallows.

I've just got to this point. Jeremy's meeting with the farmers was legit sad, those farmers are half speaking half crying on how bureaucracy, trade war with the EU and corporations fucked over their livelihood. And then the meeting was the counselors ignoring the request out of pure spite, probably because they care more about the wealthy and old living in the countryside than the farmers who make it worth keeping for the government.

The only saving grace is that all those people are going to be crucified on social media as people watch the show, and the retarded badgers are going to get the holocaust they deserve.

Only last episode left. I kinda wish the show stayed with farming rather than make me increasingly wanting to Killdozer my way through the British countryside. Fucking "Land of No". It's really a shame since the first season was so laid back and fun and there's still the lightheartness but every once in a while the fucking council decides it's a good idea to fuck around with a celebrity that actually brings people who care about farming and will help a lot of the ills surrounding it, but fuck that, let's import our entire food supply from the EU, that can't fucking go badly in the long run, the fields will grow themselves to be green and straight without those pesky farmers.

If Caleb was the unsung hero of the first season, Charlie is the one of the second. Bless this guy's heart with the amount of work and bullshit he puts up with. Also that scene with the fire hazard in the shop and the inspector saying they should put up a sign on the store from outside so if it's dark out people will know not to enter a shed that's currently on fire, it really epitomizes the insanity in the UK bureaucracy - No one is thinking, they just do what others told them and cover their own ass.

I can guarantee you that he was asked to fill in a bunch of bullshit checkboxes because of what happened at Grenfell a few years back.

I know people won't like this but when it comes to the council fucking with Clarkson some of that will not just be malicious.

Remember this first season and the queue for the farmshop's opening? That road will have been a main road for an area of the UK that rural. Imagine your personal main road where you live, one that you have to take every day possibly multiple times since as demonstrated by Clarkson himself farmers often have to drive to a lot of surrounding areas.

Now imagine that road is suddenly borderline unusable because some random celebrity decides to start filming a show in the area. And not just a short show but one that has gone on for years and may go on for more.

There's definitely malice in there too. But the council are beholden to all of their constituents and this is an area where ex-Prime Ministers are neighbours to Clarkson. These aren't just powerless people who will shrug and take it, they're people who can and will drag their own lawyers in to claim the council could and should have blocked him through methods they know exist and probably need to be employed.

This season Clarkson made a big deal of the bus stop outside of his property being hindered by the cones. Imagine that bus trying to go the other way than the footage shown where it might have behind a several mile long queue for the farm shop. Do you think the locals who rely on that are happy that this new business interest for him means now they are facing 2 hour delays on the service?

Now factor in that the eating venue could make that worse.

Which doesn't change that they are just abusing the rules to fuck with him. They do that to everyone, big and small. But they will be doing it with good reasons as their cover at least.

Another great season of Clarkon's Farm that, like other here said, shows how out of touch the UK govt is with the farming industry. The council is definitely the unofficial antagonist and seeing Clarkon and his team realize the dreams of a self sufficient restaurant was great. Apparently it was shut down though according to some people on the internet. Here are a couple notable screenshots that contain the Clarkson spirit.

Counterpoint: The official buzz would die down in a few weeks so most of the congestion is temporary. Furthermore, the old fucks living there don't go out at all, the only people who have actually purpose in their existence that Clarkson bothers are other farmers who'd appreciate having their voices heard more than the temporary inconvenience.

It's just bitter people who want to make everyone bitter as they are (and in the case of ex-politicians, have already done their damage to everyone).

It might die down but as seen in the show they continue to do roaring trade. Not to the same demented degree but when he then adds "oh and now I'm putting in an additional thing to draw in more custom" then the concern is it'll add even more to an existing problem.

The old fucks don't go out - speaking as someone who's lived in a rural area that recently had one of its bus routes cancelled they absolutely do go out and can raise merry hell when their sole option to do so is taken from them. Which is objectively cruel so they should raise hell.

Majority of it is the bitter fucks and the whiney sorts. But there are elements of rationality behind it.

And I admire your optimism thinking ex-politicians are done causing trouble.

This seems like a fair point until you consider that part of the problem with these queues is that the proposed car park (right next to a caravan park that's already a blot on the landscape, mind you) would have managed to alleviate some of the traffic, especially if they'd been allowed to build the overflow car parks that Charlie had suggested, however the council blocked those from happening because of the risk to seeing 'dark skies at night', which is unironically the pettiest reason they could have come up with for rejecting the proposal.

I can't give away too much, but I actually work with an agency that does contractual work for one of the local councils which liaises with the planning department. no-one at my job has seen anything on the level of these retarded, snap-decisions being made that 'supposedly' help out the residents but only end up causing problems in the long run because they were never actually given any real consideration or thought.

as a personal aside, the barrister that was hired by the resident who was dead set on complaining the most was the literal incarnation of a redditor and should have spell-checked his legal documentation. it's embarrassing that he was even allowed to make a considered public proposal in the first place, once again proof that everyone who lives and works in London is a blight on the country.

Ah so you'll know about the fun of planning decisions when it comes to ponds with newts in then?

don't get me started on protected species. I've already made my position on badgers clear, and even though I understand where some of this stuff comes from, it always gets wielded like an axe against the lower classes.

It's just another way for middle class wanky city folk to act smug while they fuck over the rest of the population.

Yep, the appropriate reaction. I'm an animal loving softy myself but I also know when it's largely a tool for the poorer to be tortured.

Related to that sort of fun I have in the past had to fell trees that have grown within the remains of a farm building where the local council told the three women (all post 60) applying for planning permission that the trees needed to go but the planning request would only be granted based off the building height after that was done. So the trees inside the walls had to be removed without bringing down much of the remaining vulnerable walls or else they would treat it as a 0 floor existing building.

Finished the show. I kinda wish they'd finished again on the economic side, but the expenditure this season has probably been so big it will just be a downer. The preview for this episode for the episode was misleading (intentionally) with it looking like the council is going to tear down the building, but it looks like bureaucracy can at least be expected to take forever to do something in this case. Good for Pepper for becoming a freeloader.

I hope next season things either go less hectic and more talking about farming or Clarkson tries to build a casino on his land, either will be fine.
