Red wave this year was so strong there's a non-zero chance we see the first legislative coalition government be formed in modern US history. #winning
It's what this country needs at this point. Enough talking about hippy dippy libertarian parties, what we need is a boat anchor that is able to put a stop to crazy shit and force negotiation. You want government to work? This is how. By having all of them at the others throat.

Some Recent Articles On The Events In The US House Of Representatives:

Trump: McCarthy opponents playing ‘dangerous game’

Former President Trump on Wednesday said House lawmakers opposing Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) Speakership bid are playing a “dangerous game” and urged Republicans to “get this thing over with” as the Speaker elections run into multiple rounds of voting.

“I think it is a dangerous game, and, frankly, if they are not happy with him, they can do something about it at a later date,” Trump told Fox News Digital in an interview.

“I support [McCarthy] and I support getting the deal done. What I don’t support is allowing this to continue onward,” Trump said.

“Let’s get this thing over with.”

Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) beat out McCarthy in three consecutive rounds of a Speakership election Tuesday, but no candidate got the required majority of votes and the House adjourned without selecting a Speaker.

Nineteen GOP lawmakers cast their ballots for GOP candidates other than McCarthy in the first two votes and 20 Republicans did so in the third round. All Democrats voted for Jeffries in each of the three rounds.

Trump on Wednesday took to Truth Social to reaffirm his support for McCarthy even as the Speaker hopeful faces opponents within his own party, urging House Republicans to get behind McCarthy.

“REPUBLICANS, DO NOT TURN A GREAT TRIUMPH INTO A GIANT & EMBARRASSING DEFEAT. IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE, YOU DESERVE IT. Kevin McCarthy will do a good job, and maybe even a GREAT JOB – JUST WATCH!” the former president said in a post.

McCarthy has made a number of concessions to far-right holdouts, including a “motion to vacate” that would allow five rank-and-file members to move to remove the Speaker.

The lower chamber met again on Wednesday to start a fourth round of voting, with the process set to continue until a candidate secures a majority.

It’s the first time in a century that the contest has kicked into multiple rounds of voting, and incoming lawmakers can’t be sworn in until a Speaker is elected.

Republican rep says McCarthy detractors are ‘growing their vote’

Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) said Wednesday the GOP opponents to House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) becoming Speaker appear to be “growing their vote.”

The House failed to choose a Speaker on the first day of its new session on Tuesday, reaching a stalemate on three straight ballots before adjourning until noon on Wednesday. McCarthy won more than 200 votes on each ballot, but 19 Republicans voted for other candidates on the first and second ballots and 20 did on the third, denying McCarthy victory.

“I think it’s going to require real discipline and real collegiality,” Sessions told CNN’s Kate Bolduan of efforts to overcome the opposition to McCarthy.

He said the 19 Republican rebels are “very sophisticated, very savvy,” but it remained unclear if they could find a serious alternative to McCarthy.

“They’re going to have to come up with an answer,” Sessions said. “You just can’t be a no.”

Sessions said the House Freedom Caucus, which consists of some of the most vocal opponents to McCarthy, need to decide who they would support for Speaker to start a “real negotiation” instead of voting again and only having two or three votes change.

Sessions, who voted for McCarthy in the first three votes, said he is listening to both the group supporting McCarthy and the one opposing him.

“We need to resolve this, and we need to get to a resolution,” he said.

He said the House needs to finish the Speaker vote and swear in members so it can shift its attention to addressing issues like immigration and border security and “dealing” with the Biden administration.

The House must choose a Speaker before it can approve the rules for the body, swear members in or conduct any additional business.

“Right now, we’re doing none of that,” he said.

So this is a part of the governments operations that I don't fully understand, so correct me if I'm wrong here - But the legislature cannot continue until they get a proper majority vote for one of the guys, right?

If so, they have absolutely no reason to cave, right? They hold all the cards, the question is what they want for 'em.

Gaetz would be smart to nominate Trump for 100 days like Baris said, because everyone wins. But this is where the Thernovich level contrarians in the Freedom Caucus would oppose it like Chip Roy, because they won't vote for Trump. To do so solidifies him as the center of the party. And McCarthy would bite Frank Luntz's pillow in anger at being passed over but he can't object because everyone who objects outs themselves as super duper mega faggots.

I'd go for a committee to police election mismanagement. Figuring out how to ban ballot harvesting or automatic audits on every election is necessary going forward.

Correct, the House cannot do anything until a Speaker is elected. IIRC the Senate can still function, and propose, debate, and vote on legislation, but the House is effectively stuck until a Speaker is found.

It's why there's now a flurry of feeler articles about consensus 'unity' candidates and getting more Reps to vote present, the longer this goes on the more likely it starts interfering with funding Israel and Ukraine keeping government running.

Pretty much. Hell, we can't even swear in any Representatives until they decide on a Speaker. Right now they're all technically Representative-Elects. This is beyond the normal Congressional gridlock because we literally don't even have a Congress sworn in and seated.

Basically this is a government shutdown on crack. A rare opportunity to hold everyone hostage and in theory, get anything you want.

You think too small. No democrats in ANY committees, strip them of their security clearances, impeach Biden, the possibilities ate endless.

The problem is that goes against States Rights to handle their own elections. And if that passes then a few days later Biden just uses an EO titled something like "defeating the evil MAGA white supremacist Russian menace" or something to make Mail in Voting and no-recounts-allowed universal across the country.

What the right SHOULD have going on is a cabal of people creating pre-made legislation they can hand over discreetly to MAGA activist groups in affected states to get bills on the ballot that fix these issues. Every election should have these exact same bills, perhaps with slight changes and rewording to attract sufficient moderates, until they pass.

But that sounds like a lot of very hard, unrewarding, underappreciated work to a party full of temporarily inconvenienced Tucker Carlson clones and the left works extremely hard to train Republicans not to do that. (It's called "political organizing.")

The downside is they can't really continue any of the normal operations for the House, but since they weren't likely to do anything useful anyway it makes it a goofy situation where it hardly matters.

Like is anyone going to be shedding tears if this continues a week or more and they can't pass any of the Dems' legislation?

The Democrats also seem like they're likely to make the mistake of thinking this looks bad for Republicans and to avoid supporting any maneuvers to end this, due to thinking it's somehow bad or embarassing to allow congressmen to pressure the leadership to let them represent voters.

Joepedo and Chyna cocksucker in Kentucky, the happiest the latter has been in years since he doesn't have to hide in the closet around them. Plus another dementia moment with yelling at the end.

Victoria Spartz, one of McCarthy's supporters has switched her vote to Present. That's the only change for this ballot.

Explain like I’m a retard, why doesn’t Jeffries get the speakership because he has the most votes?

I mean, they’re right, this IS horrifically embarrassing for the uniparty Republicans. Their mistake is assuming that embarrassing the GOPe is somehow a good thing for them.
