Who are you into from then? Liszt and Wagner and such? Strauss?

Rachmaninoff's probably top of the list for me, though he's maybe a little late to count? Chopin, for sure. Rimsky-Korsakov. Strauss and Wagner and Liszt are all alright, maybe slightly behind those three. Hhhmmm, trying to think of some others.
i had the impression of them as doing mostly covers, too. but i guess maybe that was more true in the 80s/90s. i was surprised when i went to see them in concert because i was expecting beatles songs and what they were actually doing was... not that. :-)
i think this is music that in order to properly enjoy it you need to know a lot of music theory and you need to approach it on a purely intellectual level, and neither of those are me. :-(

So last week I did my last AP statistic test. It was supposed to be the hardest test. I did it in 12 minutes and 43 seconds. My teacher timed it, while everyone talking almost the whole class which is around 97 minutes(class time). And I came out with a perfect score. Lmao.

"1) "Dad bod" is a male body type that is best described as "softly round." It's built upon the theory that once a man has found a mate and fathered a child, he doesn't need to worry about maintaining a sculpted physique."
Also, anybody here interested in hanging out with me and Skyite like right now? We’re thinking of going to this place that sells huge ass cookies for 3 bucks today apparently.
i don't! other than what's been posted, which is june 23 i think? a couple of days after the summer solstice, which seems like a lucky time for a furry thing somehow.

I think the most mysterious thing to me is the nature of matter, whether there’s a multiverse, how to think correctly about things like the beginning of time and space, or infinity
17:30
I think those are very hard things to think clearly about
17:30
Consciousness is mysterious but not nearly so much as most make it out to be

I've wondered about the paranormal. Things that go bump in the night, the unexplainable... possibly spirits in the afterlife that can't cross over. Maybe it's not real, but it makes you wonder.

Ah, yeah. I did most of my wondering about that in my younger years and ended up concluding that none of those claims can be rationally justified.
17:33
So I don’t see those claims as being as mysterious as I used to

Have you heard about wicca and magic and how people claim to interact with these spirits through readings?

Oh yes, very familiar with divination claims of many stripes.

What about a birthday party where everyone brings presents? Some people bring little presents and some people bring BIIIG presents. And at the end of the party after all the guests have left, you line up all the toys you got. Some of them are tiny and some of them are big. And you get to keep *all* of them. The whooole thing. The area under the curve.

i was trying to type -- some people have fancy french bathtubs with dainty little gold-plated faucets that don't allow much flow and it takes them an hour to fill the tub... some people have big industrial bathtubs with gigantic fire-hose-sized faucets that can fill the tub in less than a second... some people have bathtubs that are in between. and the rate of filling is the derivative.
I didn’t I just made cool problems with lizards and a bit of humor

I mean tbh, calc isnt that hard, if the school system really cared to, calc could be taught at lower levels
21:40
Like hell as soon as you can divide (3rd grade for me) you can probs learn all of algebra 1

Calc is only really scary and kinda hard to remember, but after all the AP FRQ packets i did for the test, and final prep, im pretty good at it, there are some curveball questions that just screw me though
21:44
In reality we teach kids the basics of algebra as they learn their operations but they dont realize it, “What plus 12 equals 15” or “what times 4 equals 8”
21:44
Then they see letters and shit themselves

the idea of a function, and the fact that there are things you can do to functions that will turn them into other functions, is a bit brainbendy i think. maybe?
21:51
i mean, a function is easy to understand, it's an NPC in a video game that you can hand a number to and he hands you back a different number. everyone's played video games, everyone knows what an NPC is.
21:52
but an NPC that you hand an NPC to and he hands you back another NPC? :-P

we're up to 7 already and we haven't even used the other two fingers yet.

Oh man I forgot to mention I’d recommend checking out spivak’s book if folks wanted a different take on calculus. It wasn’t the text I used in class but it definitely changed how I understand the math.
