@aggretsumond Good article and there's a lot of parallels to other things, both current and historic, about the stigmata of even seeking mental health help with stuff like that. That stigmata can be both earned and excessive, and it's a complex, nuanced issue that's hard to break down to given talking points. I wouldn't necessarily attribute it all to a single root, like emotional sadism; there are some that legtitimately believe that there's a concerted effort to normalize pedophilia, there are religions that actively practice it and defend the practice, there are cultural aspects, and there's often a fine line of tolerance and understanding and people abusing that for their own selfish purposes (e.g. child love moniker).
