i never really understood pcs. like how if you get the wrong kind of cpu socket, you're screwed. or if you hook up the kajillions of wires from the power supply slightly wrong. or if the memory you got isn't compatible with your motherboard. or it is compatible but you have to set some jumpers a certain way, or some bios options.

with sparcs, you basically had two kinds of modules, either it was an mbus module which basically meant "cpu", or it was an sbus module which meant "anything else". and you just stuck 'em in.

if anyone south-bay-ish needs a simple, basic pair of speakers, i still have an extra pair of "paradigm monitor 5"s. they used to be taking up space in my mother's house and now they're taking up space in my house. :-P

they've got a single tweeter, a single 6.5" mid/bass driver, and a port. they'd be good starter speakers. if someone wanted them and didn't have an amplifier, i'd be happy to go get something cheap at best buy and include that in the deal as well.
