Nah. Bondage tape is for when you don't want to hurt your prey. Rape tape is when you need to rip some fur off and make sure they don't go anywhere. ;)
it did up to the ealry 90s but since then cars are designed so that you're not allowed to operate them outside their operatioinal parameters by their ECU

That’s a very very broad generalization

you can get in your car and stomp the gas to the floor and go like that all day every day and it'll function just fine for the entire life of the car as long as you change the oil regularly
R
17:23
Reason the LA Quail
It won’t instantly die but if someone doesn’t fucking shift properly they are going to ruin the vehicle
Mɹ
17:24
Majik ɹɐǝq
brake as hard as you want all the time, all it does is make the brake pads wear faster
R
17:24
Reason the LA Quail
It affects the longevity of the vehicle
17:25
Yeah the thing is you are making a large assumption about the average user actually following through with general maintenance
17:26
I had a girlfriend who didn’t even know she had to change the oil in her car.
Mɹ
17:26
Majik ɹɐǝq
I'm not making that assumption

Mɹ
17:27

cars made for the US market have all of the available power in the first 20% of the accelerator tip-in because americans are afraid that pushing the gas pedal too far will "hurt the car" but then the complain that the car doesn't have enough power
Depends on your use case. Long or short commute? Do you want fun or boring economy?
R
17:28
Reason the LA Quail
It also depends on where you are buying the vehicle. Places that salt or that are very hot are going to lower the longevity
C

Mostly a 3-mile short hop for commuting, with occasional longer stints. :P

Do you need cargo capacity?
C

It helps. I'll probably be going for a hatchback rather than a sedan, whichever make/model I decide on.
Mɹ

If a model you want has a hatchback or sedan option, always get the hatchback.
C

There's no reason to choose a sedan over a hatchback as they offer the same engine and leg room, but the hatchback has room for fursuit boxes.

mazda hatchbacks look a little silly for some of their years, but... I drive a scion xB right now. A little silly is just fine.
Mɹ
17:30
Majik ɹɐǝq
The best hatchback options are the mazda 3 hatch, ford fiesta and honda fit.
17:31
The fit has a lot of road and mechanical noise so not so great for long trips.
17:31
The fiesta (which I have) is great for long trips and has the best gas mileage.
17:31
The 3 is the overall best value.
C
17:31

I'm pretty heavily leaning toward a Mazda 3 right now. Have been for a while, just haven't decided to actually go through with getting a new(er) car.
Mɹ

Majik ɹɐǝq
Several of my friends bought 3's and are quite happy with them.
17:32
I'd go for a 2016.

Yeah, I'm looking at probably a 2014-2017 model
Mɹ

If you're feeling cheeky you can get the 2013 Mazdaspeed 3.
17:34
They are fun but also reasonably economical.
C

I'm probably going to get one of the midrange-trim touring versions. :P
Mɹ
17:35
Majik ɹɐǝq
If you want something that gets 40mpg, is the cheapest car you can buy used, is fun to drive and can be fixed with a fart and bailing wire, go with a Miata.
C
17:36
Carci
If I find one that works for me and has a manual transmission, I'm definitely going with that. :P
Mɹ
17:36
Majik ɹɐǝq
Most miatas before 2009 are manuals.
17:37
1996 to 2009 Miatas have tons and tons of parts available, and if you want to fix it up later, lots of aftermarket parts.
17:37
You could literally build a miata out of aftermarket parts alone.
C
17:38
Carci
Miatas are the Mazda coupes, right? I think I want a car with more room than that. :P
Mɹ
17:38
Majik ɹɐǝq
Yup
17:38
Ifyour Miata gets stolen you just buy another $3,000 Miata :P
17:39
If you want the absoulte cheapest hatch you can have a nearly new Nissan Versa Note for about $9k off the lot.
17:39
I had one and absolutely loved it.
17:41
hahaha!
17:41
The only car ever unaminously rejected by rental car companies.
17:42
It's been done and the Versa absolutely destroyed the Mirage
17:42
The base model mirage does not have a heater, radio, antilock brakes or airbags.
17:42
It also has wind-up windows and manual door locks.
17:42
And there's no steerig wheel interlock, so you can turn the wheel without the key in.
17:43
yes
17:43
It isn't!
17:45
The models that do have airbags are still using Takata airbags.
17:45
They've recalled over 84,000 of them, but they're still putting them in.
17:45
They manufacture them with recalled airbags, then immediately recall that batch.

I advise driving them. The 3 is by itself in that group in the fun to drive aspect, but won't match the mileage of a Prius and probably not quite as much cargo capacity. Not sure how the Kia would appeal unless you like the styling.
I don’t know what mood you just put me in But yes I love it keep it going

I've heard stories of bikers trading in or selling their Harleys then buying a Honda, Kawasaki, or other foreign motorcycle, and wonder how they got along before.

A well-known, well liked furry named dogbomb suffering from ALS has chosen to end his life on his own terms instead of waiting for the disease to do so for him.
1st time: I may have not applied it correctly because the adhesive for it somehow was wearing out while forcing me to increase touch sensitivity on certain parts of the screen
2nd time (now): Got someone to help me put the screen protector on correctly and uhh . . . I had to temporarily take off the screen protector to remove dust/hair that "somehow" got underneath the screen protector and now it's repeating the first attempt again

Also any job that requires you to step inside a casino property you have to get a sherriff's card which is the police also did a background on you and took fingerprints and dna sample in some cases.
22:40
So I get a job delivering doughnuts but the company services any casino, you need a sherriff's card.

i'm not a photographer, but i really like the red leaves, and the wet newspaper!
10:58
those are the ones that i get the strongest "feelings" from.
You couldn't pay me to run ZFS on Linux again. Had 72TB ZFS pool with my roommates at my last house, and ZoL would freak out all of the time. Migrated back to FreeBSD, and tada, no more problems.
You're misunderstanding. The reason you're not having problems is because you're running a small pool. And that's fine. The reason I had problems is because I wasn't running a small pool. And ZoL didn't like that.
11:01
I'm not dissing the size of your pool. It's not about the size of the pool, but the motion of the bytes. ;)
oh. it's possible they might have fixed that bug nowadays.
T
11:01
Tamino
the only reason it's grown to 76 GB is because disk space is so gosh darn plentiful these days that there's just no incentive to have good hygiene about cleaning stuff up when you're done with it!
Last I checked, there were woefully few people testing on larger pools. I'd stick with FreeBSD, personally, if I were to do ZFS again.
11:03
Even though soon, FreeBSD is basing their ZFS implementation on ZoL, so ZoL will likely get the FreeBSD stability boost over time.
11:04
But yeah. I swore off Windows in January, migrated desktop and laptop to Linux, got my work laptop in Feb which I also installed Linux on, have a Intel NUC I use as my HTPC, also running Linux, and a 4-bay NAS for media :D
JA
11:04
Jarek Ashton
I found it amusing the only reason ZFS on linux exists is because the developers have a DoD contract that requires massive amounts of disk space. I think in their FAQ they say they'll keep developing ZFS on linux so long as there's a continued necessity for it.
