before i had a raincoat i would just put on a sweatshirt and bike to work, and then hang my wet sweatshirt on the back of my chair and it would be dry by lunchtime. and then i'd put it on and go out for lunch, and then when i got back from lunch i'd hang my wet sweatshirt on the back of my chair and it would be dry by the time i had to go home. and then i'd put it on and bike home, and hang it somewhere to dry when i got home. and my actual tee shirt underneath would stay *mostly* dry throughout that whole process.

One theory of art is that when it's limited in some way, it tends to make the other parts more excellent. For example, radio drama has no visuals, so the dialog and sound, and perhaps the story line tends to get more attention than it would in a visual production. Old video games had a lot less horsepower to burn on detail, so the focus necessarily was on game play itself rather than say, amazing backgrounds. That was ever more true towards the beginning of the era, when video games were all Atari 2600 blobs of pixels :P
