You will likely need to boil the water to get that much sugar to dissolve. Add in enough boric acid to make a 1% solution. You can err somewhat on the higher side, so maybe even try 1.5%. Dissolve all that. Take cotton balls, soak them in the solution, set them along trails, preferably outside, everywhere you see ants approaching your house. You can set them inside your house, too, at first, but this may have the effect of attracting MORE ants into the house because you're obviously providing them food. It's just baiting, yes. But you can put out a lot more than a few baits. This method is cheap enough that you can put out dozens of baits at a time."
