Yeah, there was definitely a pretty harsh write limit in the beginning, you would have sectors become unusable relatively quickly. The common advice was no page files, no swap, etc. on SSDs.

it seems like our answer to everything is "add more layers of abstraction". i actually don't find it particularly reassuring knowing that when i write a file, it has to go through the filesystem managed by my OS, and then even after it gets down to the SSD it has to go through *another* layer of mapping managed by the SSD.

Yeah Jungle Book was pretty decent. The only thing I do recall from the Mulan remake was they wouldn’t include many of the songs from the original. Which I assume may be a good thing, because they can often ruin the flow in a live-action setting
