also, if i ask someone a coding question and they choose to solve it in a language i don't know, then i'll just tell them honestly that i don't know that language, but i'll ask them to explain it to me, line by line, and help me understand what it does. and if i see some funny bit of syntax, i'll ask them what the syntax means. and it's not like i'm bluffing. i'm being completely open with them that i don't have a clue about the language they used. but i can still learn a lot about how well *they* know it, by how well they can explain it.

one fantasy i keep having is... find a house, or an office that's appropriately zoned for people being able to sleep there... keep the fridge stocked, keep a good internet connection, keep plenty of clean bedding, have a keurig coffee machine... and then it'd just be there, 24 hours a day, in case anyone needed "whatever". whether it's, not enough money for groceries that week and need food... or no place to sleep... or roommates fighting or making someone uncomfortable... or whatever. just anything people might need, without judgment.
