i've never in my career as a sofware engineer ever had to actually *solve* an integral as part of my job. on the other hand, i've found that it's useful to be able to use metaphorical ideas like "slope" and "area under the curve" when you're *talking* about stuff. like you might say "sure, we got some intermittent spikes, but what's the area under the curve" meaning "what was the cumulative effect of those spikes".

So. This custom is a recent custom. Matter of fact we don't even do it until sales of alcohol are banned in restaurants. Which is most of the restaurants profits meaning that they won't make as much money. By cutting servers wage off. It enforce them to collect tips from costumers. Which doesn't help the costumer's experience dining as they have to worry about tipping at the end. At the same time, a lot of servers have to rely on tips because the companies are cheating and being greedy to trying to gain as much profits as possible. And they are getting away with it.

Yeah, basically you generate an AM signal by mixing audio with radio power to generate sidebands. With single-sideband you pass only the energy on one side or the other of the carrier, and re-insert the carrier in the receiver

It was years ago but I did a lot of encoding at different MP3 rates and several different albums and I decided that at 160K was when I could no longer tell which was the original WAV and the MP3, and definitely not by 192K, whereas 128K is significantly less sparkle and sizzle with high energy content, so it's sad that they're too cheap to deliver better quality.

i'm trying to decide whether to download the digital version of vnv nation's new album and listen to it now, or whether to wait for the cd. cuz i have that option now where i didn't before. i'd ordered the physical cd on amazon, but the expected delivery date just got pushed out so i ordered it on bandcamp, but the one on bandcamp comes with a digital download option if i want to take advantage of it.

my problem is i know they're going to be collecting statistics on who gets what. and i don't want to throw away my chance to do my small part to buck the digital-download trend, by causing their "physical CD" counter to go up by 1 while at the same time *not* causing their "digital download" counter to go up by 1.

Do sea otters have pockets?

Under each foreleg, the sea otter has a loose pouch of skin that extends across the chest. In this pouch (preferentially the left one), the animal stores collected food to bring to the surface. This pouch also holds a rock, unique to the otter, that is used to break open shellfish and clams.
