what i don't do as much as i should, is write "return to sender" on stuff that just went to the incorrect address. that tends to get thrown in the trash more often than it should.

Haha one of my pet peeves that no one ever respects is "can I ask you a question"
15:33
1) you just did 2) that's an extra conversation cycle that's totally not necessary

The act implies the question could require additional attention

Well if I'm busy I'd rather just hear the question and answer it at my own time than have to wait for the question after responding

As a sometimes busy wuff I appreciate just getting to the point

When someone asks "can I ask you a question", I guess it could maybe often could be better presented as "Feel free to tell me off if this is too personal (or whatever other thing the question might be bad for), but <question>?"

I was pondering yesterday whether to "come out as furry" on facebook and share my refsheet... but I really just want to use this profile pic everywhere

Never been connected more to something I just saw yesterday
TNES is one of my favorites too. on the other paw, i used to try to get people to watch Koyaanisqatsi and i'd kind of base my friendship/affection for them on how they responded to that movie. and i've kind of stopped doing that, because i've met worthwhile people who that movie just doesn't do anything for.
i guess over text based things like email or chat, i feel the same way. just say what you have to say, i'll get to it when i am able.
but i confess i do ask "can i ask you a question" if it's RL. and i don't really think i want to stop, either. i do consider it a polite thing.

Usually when someone does it to me I reply, only if you have more.

it somehow feels like a smoother segue into demanding a lot of very involved listening on the other person's part, giving them time to flush their buffers if they need to.
20:04
but over text none of that is relevant because the other person can read, re-read, and respond at their own pace, just, *regardless* of any social niceties you wrap around it. the social niceties don't add any value, if it's over text.
I'm less annoyed by that because that barely causes any delay in communication
T
20:09
Tamino
huh. i actually notice the delay/effort a lot more that way. like if i'm stressed out of my gourd at work and trying to multitask, i *might* be able to sliver in a bit of attention along one side of everything else, to answer an efficiently-worded question over slack.
20:09
but if that question is "hi ben"
20:10
then i start emitting steam and whimpering quietly.
20:12
(metaphorically :-P really what i actually do is just answer as nicely as i can "hi! what's up?")

i think i did a lot of things well today, but something i did not do well was that i handled a frustrating driving situation on the commute home rather poorly, and i feel like a bad dog about that, and i just kind of want to be less stressed/tired in general. rwff.
20:55
i volunteered to write a runbook for one of the things that broke at work today, to get practice writing runbooks. so that was a positive thing. hopefully people will give me feedback on it so i can get better at that skill.
You're a really good dog. And good dogs get stressed sometimes when they put as much care into everything they do as you do. It's not easy. *nuzzle*

i think we should do it. :-) i guess i'm happy to collect head count from people and make reservations at the place once we're pretty sure we know who all wants to come.
22:11
you have to drive the longest afterwards, so it'd have to be early enough to not make that too rough on you. 6 maybe? brownie, what do you think?
22:12
sorry jedi :-( i know the sacramento furs aren't your favorite group of people, but it seems like you ought to be able to organize something up there.
i think furs tend to be nightowls and like eating later, so i guess i'm suggesting 6 tentatively unless brownie's tingly organizer-sense says different :-)

Instead taking the advice are harder because some people can be stubborn.
10:13
The thing I believe is that. We are very stubborn even with all the evidence in our face, however if something doesn't go our way as in a final thing. Yeah we will change to be able adapt. While adapting is very hard if we aren't used to it. While it depends on preferences and the effort you put in. Ultimately shows the results.
