<2021-03-31T13:00:36.000Z> dj: Would love to hear you guys' thoughts on RTS games and notably Westwood Studios and C&C. There's a lot of politics going on in many Westwood titles - spanning all the way back to Dune II (the first Western RTS - 1992, published by Virgin Interactive fwiw) which capitalised on and arguably did propaganda for the Gulf War. There are some interesting things going on in C&C1/Tiberian Dawn, notably that much of the GDI campaign takes place in Eastern Europe which was then a target of the Clinton Administration... But of course C&C Generals & Generals: Zero Hour takes the cake with a 2003/4 release. China, GLA (Al Qaeda/proto-ISIS) and USA... The main story of Zero Hour ends with China rescuing Europe and doing a massive military parade through Europe... Idk I would like to know who EA's investors were when they pushed former Westwood employees to start a new IP with Generals/Zero Hour (featuring in your face politicking against Arabs and China as saviours of Europe wtf) when they should've been working on more Tiberian content. It's also the time EA made their most money ever up to that point... Food for thought. Anyway, there's my reasoned request for an RTS or C&C/Westwood episode. Peace.
