<2022-07-03T14:35:46.000Z> DueceJigaboo: Nigger what growing range are you? Your thumb is green as hell.
<2022-07-03T14:44:41.000Z> collatz: I forget where we technically fall. Something like 7b - 6a iirc.
<2022-07-14T03:46:59.000Z> DueceJigaboo: I'm in 6 myself. My garden would be doing a lot better if I wasn't at war with the urban squirrels I imagine.
<2022-07-14T03:50:24.000Z> DueceJigaboo: I gotta ask, whats your soil medium? Do you mix your own or do you just ha e really good top soil? I use mostly peat and whatever I managed to compost the year before, which is primarily kitchen waste, yard clippings and discarded chicken bedding.
<2022-07-14T04:26:36.000Z> collatz: tbh I just use a fairly inexpensive compost from rural king, and order perlite/vermiculite in 4cu ft. bags to mix in for seeding & some other things where it feels appropriate. When I remember I use lime & something like azomite or greensand. All that said, 99% of what you see here isn't in a potting mix, just in-ground. I do live next to a cow pasture, and try to bring in weathered manure; as well as compost most of our vegetable waste, eggshells, clippings w/o seeds in them. Then there's cover crops, and in the end I'm not above fertilizers for heavy feeding things like corn, tomatoes & onions.
