<2022-06-16T19:39:04.000Z> Wichawd_Wagnew: bro, can i ask you a question about enlistment?
<2022-06-21T07:30:26.000Z> MaleGoddess: Sure, I'll answer what I can
<2022-06-23T17:02:10.000Z> Wichawd_Wagnew: i'm almost 37 and have a law degree, but no interest in practicing law. could i get an age waiver to enlist and go into infantry? should i look into navy officer school or something? i don't want to do JAG. i took the asvab when i was 17 and got a 94 on the first try. bored now and want to do something interesting, plus i'd like to travel the world on uncle's dime
<2022-06-23T17:09:47.000Z> Wichawd_Wagnew: in the private sector, i've been great at investigations, analysis, negotiating
<2022-06-23T17:10:56.000Z> Wichawd_Wagnew: could be in better shape physically but not fat and i don't drink, smoke or use drugs
<2022-06-23T17:48:03.000Z> MaleGoddess: Bachelor degree?I think the age cut off was raised to 42 for enlisted.Don't know what it is for OCS though.Surgeries and prescriptions you've had for the last 7 years might be accessible by the government
<2022-06-23T17:49:35.000Z> Wichawd_Wagnew: i've got a bachelor's and a grad degree
<2022-06-23T18:01:08.000Z> MaleGoddess: I'd see about enlisted and then converting to officer. Or OCS.Had a buddy enter enlisted, served two years, flipped over to JAG and went from Specialist rank to Captain rank.
<2022-06-23T18:12:40.000Z> MaleGoddess: If you just want to have fun and roll around in the mud and do stupid shit. You can enlist infantry.Right now they're letting fat boys in and sending them to fat camp before basic training.
<2022-06-23T18:14:43.000Z> MaleGoddess: My buddy was in the same boat as you, but then after he figured out how stupid it was, and flipped to JAG.
<2022-06-23T18:16:14.000Z> Wichawd_Wagnew: ok cool. thanks man. would you recommend army, or should i look into other branches?
<2022-06-23T18:35:12.000Z> MaleGoddess: Depends how hardcore you want to be. I don't think the Marines raised their age, but I'm not sure, you'd have to ask one of their recruiters.Probably the most hardcore/stupid branch.Army, slightly smarter, slightly less hardcore.Navy, slightly less hardcore, but I wouldn't say any less stupid.Air Force, barely a military branch. Less stupid. More business centered. Coast Guard, about as smart as air force, and hardly a military branch. Will never go to war.
<2022-06-23T18:35:53.000Z> MaleGoddess: I went army infantry, because I wanted a bit hardcore, but without the hardcore brainwashing of the Marines.
<2022-06-23T18:37:11.000Z> MaleGoddess: Coast Guard though, be prepared to pick a shit job that has high promotion rates, like cook.
<2022-06-23T18:38:01.000Z> MaleGoddess: It's a small branch, so all the highly desired job fields are going to have a year+ wait list, and no room for promotion.
