<2021-05-09T01:56:05.000Z> ThomasPaine: Isn't this already the Fediverse lol
<2021-05-09T01:57:02.000Z> Salty: Oh no, this is just poast which is part of the fediverse.
<2021-05-09T01:59:29.000Z> Salty: When you hit the home page, look in the window on the right hand top side. There's a button there for fediverse. Steel yourself tho. Shitloads of anime, lolis, porn, etc.
<2021-05-09T02:01:47.000Z> ThomasPaine: Oh god 😄
<2021-05-09T02:02:13.000Z> ThomasPaine: Is it there on phones?
<2021-05-09T16:01:31.000Z> Salty: Yes
<2021-05-09T16:05:10.000Z> Salty: Some of the fediverse will bleed into poast but, if you only want to see poast posts, hit the poast button and it will strip out the fediverse posts. https://img.poast.org/1c6d3b4799bb267ff0b70bab101447dc8266d50dd2f603cfea5201bc9f481f63.jpg
<2021-05-09T16:06:56.000Z> Salty: I've only been on here about 3 weeks so I'm just figuring a lot of this stuff now myself.
<2021-05-09T16:45:58.000Z> ThomasPaine: It's in the top left on phone I guess Yeah I had taken a look already It is full of some stuff that's for sure lol
<2021-05-09T16:46:08.000Z> ThomasPaine: How can I get my own special domain or choose one and thx
<2021-05-10T17:06:05.000Z> Salty: I thought about doing the same thing but haven't quite deciphered how to do this yet. I did find what looks like to be a pretty good resource for info though (fediverse.express/). There's different softwares & packages you can pay $10/month for and others you can get for free. This is about as far as I've gotten in my spare time 🙄. One thing I did notice is most of the resources on the fediverse all tell you to do your own research and pick which options are best for you which isn't much help.
<2021-05-10T17:12:32.000Z> Salty: Apparently your "site" is called an "instance". You can set them up as public or completely private, and you have a full range of configuration options. I'm pretty sure the free versions of this use somebody's server so you don't really own the data. The paid versions give you a dedicated server that's yours (you're renting it of course) so you own all the data. If you look back over that guy @ graf, he's a big advocate of everyone getting their own instance and has quite a lot of info on his tl/comments.
<2021-05-10T17:31:10.000Z> ThomasPaine: TYSM
<2021-05-10T21:58:03.000Z> Salty: YW
